  • Not the Classic Ballet

by Ballet Mom on 9/27/25F.M. Kirby Center - Wilkes BarreRating: 1 out of 5

I was excited to see the classic ballet Cinderella with the music from the composer Prokofiev. The trailer shown on this venue's website uses this beautiful melody which drew me to spend $72 to reserve my seat in the Orchestra Section! This was a huge deception! There was no overture which was a huge red flag that music was not going to be what I expected. The music used was mostly a compilation of walz’s from various other composers and not Prokofiev! What a disappointment!! I couldn’t wait till it was over! The backdrops and costumes were wonderful except the very tall wigs worn by the dancers in some scenes were a distraction and exaggerated. The dancing was professional especially the male leads. The mother and stepsisters were too animated and cartoonish. Overall, I did not enjoy this production and I felt misled with the trailer.

  • Absolutely joyful performance!

by George Cervenka on 9/27/25F.M. Kirby Center - Wilkes BarreRating: 5 out of 5

The World Ballet Company performed “Cinderella” at the F.M. Kirby theater in the heart of Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. Both the theatre and downtown Wilkes-Barre make for the perfect venue. The theatre is in wonderful condition, and downtown Wilkes-Barre is safe, and ample, inexpensive indoor parking is available. There are many restaurants at which to dine. The performance of “Cinderella” was magnificent. I was seated in the front row, and the dancers and their costumes were beautiful! At the entrance to the theatre, one could have his picture taken with one of the dancers dressed as Cinderella! I first saw the World Ballet Company at the same venue last Fall, when they performed “Swan Lake”. It, too was wonderful!

Two years ago, I saw this ballet Cinderella and it was absolutely amazing - pure magic from start to finish! I just found out it’s coming back to California, and I truly believe everyone should go see it and bring their kids too. It’s such a beautiful, unforgettable experience - you won’t regret it!

What a treat! This ballet was beautifully choreographed and the story was a little different from the Cinderella that I know. The dancing was superb and the costumes were breathtaking! I am sorry that I could only see it once!

  • Great performers on stage

by Steve on 11/15/23Balboa Theatre - San DiegoRating: 3 out of 5

I loved the ballet dancers. They really brought the story to life. However, the lack of a life orchestra took away the magic. I wish I had known about it ahead of time. However, since I did not, I felt disappointed.

  • Mesmerizing

by AAmusiclover on 11/14/23Balboa Theatre - San DiegoRating: 5 out of 5

This was my first time seeing World Ballet. Wonderful dancers - from the corps, the principals and especially Cinderella and the prince. The Fairy Godmother was wonderful, as were the mean sisters and the mother. So engaging. Beautiful costumes. Wonderful acting. Superb. Flawless. I can't wait for Nutcracker and Swan Lake. I am a lifetime fan.

  • Enjoyable

by Big Fan on 11/9/23Fred Kavli Theatre- B of A Performing Arts Center,Thousand Oaks - Thousand OaksRating: 4 out of 5

The ballet itself was enjoyable. The seats were very uncomfortable....too hard and rigid backs and there's no leg room for a tall person.

  • A very fun ballet

by TheCount on 11/8/23Fred Kavli Theatre- B of A Performing Arts Center,Thousand Oaks - Thousand OaksRating: 5 out of 5

The Cinderella ballet was the most fun ballet that I have watched, because the dancers portraying the evil stepsisters and evil stepmother danced and performed in an amusing way to ridicule those characters. The other dancers were good, too.
