expected Gaffigan to do substantial "stand up"

by htgguy on 11/24/13Fitzgerald Theater - St Paul

My fault for buying tickets hastily without investigating format. However, show was not what I expected i.e. kinda knockoff of "Prarie Home Companion" format. Well done -once again- not what I expected.

Jim Gaffigan was awesome. Bus driver was not good.

    What a fantastic show!

by girlyoureallygotmenow on 11/11/13Fitzgerald Theater - St Paul

This far exceeded my expectations. I was already a Scott Auckerman fan at the beginning of the night but by the end I was also a fan of The Witnesses, Eugene Mirman and of couse, Kathleen Edwards. I cannot wait for my next Wits show!

    bummer

by BirdieMMn on 11/10/13Fitzgerald Theater - St Paul

I am a big fan of Wits and have attended numerous events over the past few years. The format is engaging , and the collaboration between the guests makes for an original show. However, this show missed the mark. The musical guest, Kathleen Edwards, performed her music beautifully and with intention. But when she tried to spar with the comedians she only exuded what can be called tenage angst. She was crude, rude and immature. The comedians semed to enjoy their time on the show but sadly they were weighed down by host John Moe's shoddy attempts at having some sort of meaningful dialogue. It was evident to all that the comedians wanted to make the audience laugh, not listen to their dull conversation. Finally, the show length was about 45 minutes to long.

One of a kind variety show

by PodcastJunkie on 11/10/13Fitzgerald Theater - St Paul

Really cool podcast taping I was familiar with but hadn't been to a taping til this one. Lots of fun and some behind the scenes stuff which I really like, but others might grow impatient for. (re-do's and stuff. The Podcast is heavily edited) An incredibly cool crowd and the band is incomprable for what they do. Listen to the podcast to see if it's for you. If so, you can't lose going to the live taping. Guests usually available after show for pictures and autographs.

    Fantastic

by JohnandMary on 11/4/13Fitzgerald Theater - St Paul

It was simply fantastic! Aisha and Loudon were great, the band was great, the skits were so well written, clever, and funny. John Moe was awesome. We heartily recommend the WITS series to all.

    Rhett Miller is so cute!!

by DM51 on 10/28/13Fitzgerald Theater - St Paul

came for the show, after hearing it on MPR. fell in love with the music. You could see how much Rhett Miller just must live to sing -- the music just seemed a part of his soul. He looked as if he simply could not help but sing along to harmonize with the Wits band (who were also great. They could play with anyone that might be on the show!) and his own music was a great new discovery for me. Loved the "Amazon" one star book reviews.

Slow start then heated up in all ways⭐

by Igetaroundtown on 6/16/13Fitzgerald Theater - St Paul

Would prefer a few minutes of comic standup before getting into the group mode. The musical artists perform, why not the comedians? Koechner needed some time to get into the rhythm of the format. Metric was excellent and very sharp and witty as well! They could have ripped out a more kickin song or two with the Multi talented house band and got people up and movin. Venue got sweaty.

    Missed the great voices!

by Rfem on 5/12/13Fitzgerald Theater - St Paul

I must have missed something but was excited to be able to hear the great voices of Neko Case and Kelly Hogan. They only did a couple songs which was a big waste.

    Wonderful!

by Squzzles on 5/8/13Fitzgerald Theater - St Paul

LOVED this event. It was really interesting watching a radio broadcast be taped, and it was an honor to get to see Patton Oswalt and Ben Lee perform live. The theatre is wonderfully laid out. Comfortable seats. The sound was a perfect level to hear what was happening on stage. Loved the live twitter feed on the screen before the show and during intermission. Very enjoyable experience!

Wife and I had a blast at the Wits show. We hope to go to one of these every year as long as possible. Last year we saw Paul F Tompkins. This year Oswalt. The show is highly entertaining.

    W. Kamau Bell is so funny

by Infophreak42 on 3/31/13Fitzgerald Theater - St Paul

Great cast with the inclusion of W. Kamau Bell! W. Kamau Bell is a very funny comic whom I've seen before. The show Wits is a fresh new show with great writing.

    Go to Wits!

by Anonymous on 3/31/13Fitzgerald Theater - St Paul

John Moe is very funny and quick with his wit. Good thing since the show is called Wits! Went to see W. Kamau Bell because we are fans of Totally Biased. He came out after the show and was taking photos and signing autographs. Classy!

    Humor falls short

by Fishbert on 3/31/13Fitzgerald Theater - St Paul

Be sure to take advantage of the special drink pricing, because the skits in the show don't provide many laughs unless you've indulged beforehand. We won't be going back.

This 64-year old felt hip at WIts

by Copasqueen on 3/17/13Fitzgerald Theater - St Paul

A very stimulating and hilarious evening! It was the most fun I've had for a long time. Such high energy and creativity. I was enthralled. Have wanted to see Paula Poundstone live, and she didn't disappoint. Robyn was dynamite too. John Moe's introduction hit the mark and set a good tone. But the big surprise was Jan the Janitor. She's the jewel in the crown!
