About

WISHFUL DRINKING, Carrie Fisher's autobiographical solo show, follows Fisher's life. Born to celebrity parents, Fisher lands among the stars when she's picked to play a princess in a little movie called ‘Star Wars.' But her story isn't all sweetness and light sabers. As a single mom, she also battles addiction, depression, mental institutions, and that awful hyperspace hairdo. It's an incredible tale-from having her father leave her mother for Elizabeth Taylor to marrying and divorcing singer/songwriter Paul Simon, from having the father of her baby leave her for a man to waking up one morning and finding a friend dead beside her in bed. Don't miss this opportunity to see Carrie Fisher's hit Broadway show.

Slow start but standing ovation at the end

by TopherInChicago on 10/10/11Bank of America Theatre - Chicago

Carrie brings a true character to life, herself, through a very honest telling or her family history. She has a way of luring us into her world and giving us all the drama, without feeling like a Jerry Springer show. I was delighted and surprised at how open and direct she was with all the normally taboo topics, such as mental illness or addiction. Ultimately, her message came through loud and clear that she was able to claim everything that has plagued her in the past and therefore, none of that claims her. I connected on may levels with her and hope to see more of her again. Highly recommended to anyone who wants to see a real 'princess' on stage.

Carrie Fisher Puts on a Great Show!!

by chicagofan1111 on 10/10/11Bank of America Theatre - Chicago

I took my wife to Carrie Fisher's Wishful Drinking show as a gift (she is a huge Star Wars and Carrie Fisher fan). I didn't have a lot of expectations either way, but I ended up being extremely impressed with the show. Carrie is truly funny and was able to get the crowd into the program as she moves her story along. She is honest and playful about the experiences in her life and brings a refreshing attitude to the show. At the end of the day she entertained us, made us laugh, and was effective in enlightening the audience on issues that many people experience every day. Well done Carrie. I would definitely recommend this to friends. Man, Women, Star Wars Fan or Not (but definitely leave the kids at home).

    Carrie fisher was ok

by Loulle on 10/10/11Bank of America Theatre - Chicago

Carrie Fisher was entertaining but the story line was not that exciting or funny for that matter. There were a few good lines but I would not recommend this. I saw Billy Crystal's one man show a few years back and thought that was outstanding.

My wife wanted to attend this show and I was skeptical as to whether it would be something I would enjoy. I can honestly say that it was one of the most enjoyable evenings I have ever spent attending a play comedy or otherwise. It was funny and totally entertaining from beginning to end. As a matter of fact I was hoping it would not end. I suggest if there are any men out there hesitating to buy tickets, please buy them and go, you will have an outstanding time.

Carrie Fisher is excellent, funny, and times her lines like an expert She and moves across the stage like she is at home in her living room. Carrie is a remarkable lady. Having left the princess behind a long long time ago. I may have to go again. The audience loved being in Carrie Fishers universe. The audience becomes a part of the show. We all had fun.

    Witty

by AZLolly on 10/10/11Bank of America Theatre - Chicago

Carrie has put together a well written show with many ad-libbed moments. She touches on all the subjects that are interesting to the audience and is quite candid and witty which results in laugh out loud stories. The second half doesn't live up to the first and when she interjects her political views she shows only half of her great wit. Otherwise it's highly recommended if you have any interest in her life at all.

    Wishful Drinking (Chicago)

by kathyabby on 10/9/11Bank of America Theatre - Chicago

Carrie Fisher is so clever, so original and the perfect tour guide to her crazy quilt genealogy that reads like a sixties movie fan magazine. An unforgettable evening all about her and her show biz movieland experiences. The set and projections are so perfect. All in all it is a richly entertaining evening providing more than a glimpse into Carrie Fisher's topsy turvey life so far. Can't wait for a sequel.

Awful, possibly the worst show i have ever seen. I would rather let a nest of red ants slowly eat my crown jewels than sit through this show again. My advice is Don't waste your money.
