Whoopi Goldberg on Tour
For all her achievements in theater, movies and television, Whoopi Goldberg has never lost her reverence for the connections she forges with audiences at her reliably outrageous stand-up performances.
Her appearance in November, 2019 at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Atlantic City marked another milestone for a performer who first came to wider attention with Whoopi Goldberg, the one-woman stage show she brought to Broadway with the help of director Mike Nichols in 1984. The acclaim for her skills drew the notice of Steven Spielberg, who cast her in the lead role of The Color Purple. Goldberg's Academy Award nomination led to her successful run in a huge variety of dramas and comedies, including such smash hits as Ghost in 1990 and Sister Act two years later.
Her forays into television include her Emmy-winning run as executive producer and resident "center square" personality on her revival of the game show Hollywood Squares. Never afraid to share her views, Goldberg continues to elicit laughs and provoke thoughts as the moderator of ABC's The View.
In March of 2019, she appeared at New York's Beacon Theatre as cohost for Love Rocks NYC, the star-studded annual benefit for the nonprofit organization God's Love We Deliver.
Whoopi Goldberg Background
Born and raised in New York, Whoopi Goldberg caught the performing bug at an early age. Her first audiences were the relatives who gave Goldberg her distinctive nickname, comparing the aspiring comedian to a whoopee cushion.
Her years studying comedy and theater in California and New York led to the development of the characters who filled her first stage hit, which was named The Spook Show before she and director Mike Nichols brought it to Broadway as Whoopi Goldberg in 1984. In 1985, she earned an Academy Award nomination for her first major screen role, in Steven Spielberg's The Color Purple. That launched a movie career that has included such beloved films as Ghost, Sister Act and The Lion King.
Among her television credits are her groundbreaking talk show The Whoopi Goldberg Show and the Emmy-nominated NBC sitcom Whoopi. Her Emmy-winning revival of Hollywood Squares ran from 1998 to 2004. In 2007, she joined Barbara Walters on ABC's The View as the show's new moderator.
One of America's most decorated performers, Goldberg is among the few to win an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar and a Tony. Her other honors include two Golden Globes, a Drama Desk Award, two American Comedy Awards, the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor and a star on Hollywood's Walk of Fame.

I just adore her. Show was great.. she was endearing! I just adore her!
She's so brilliant, witty, wise and overall wonderful! This certainly was a check on my bucket list....
I live payday to payday so this was a treat to get to go see someone that I love. She was great for the little time she was doing her standup. I was disappointed that I paid $80 to see 45 minutes worth of stand up and 30 minutes of Q&A.
I left after seeing Ms Goldberg feeling something was lacking! She wasn't what I expected nor as funny as past routines! I admire her courage to speak out about tough subjects, but will not pay the money to see her again!
First part of show was funny at times. Last half hour of Q & Q was a waste of time. Felt I didn't get my monies worth. Don't need to listen to audience telling her she' all that.
I would recommend this show to a friend as long as they understand that Whoopi does her comedy for only about an hour then there is 1/2 hour of Q & A (a lot of which are questions from misinformed people and a big waste of time). We were mistakenly thinking we would be seeing approximately a 2 hour show. The Comedy part of this show was awesome because Whoopi is a truly talented comedian and actor!
Whoopi has always been a favorite comedian and actor of mine. When I found out she was still doing stand-up I jumped at the chance to see her in person and add a check to my "bucket list". She was amazing! Down to earth comedy and lots of laughter at the everyday things we do and experience in life. Would have loved the opportunity to get a photo and/or autograph. Whoopi Goldberg fan to the end!
language was a little off color for my wife our age(60's).
We regularly watch the View and have seen Whoopi several times over the years. Her candidness, humor and personality only improve with age. Thoroughly enjoyable performance. The only less than stellar time was at the end when Whoopi took questions, comments from the audience. Few of the questions or comments were interesting and many were clearly self serving of the questioner. Clearly not Whoopi's responsibility. Whoopi, quite properly, did cut it off when someone asked her to sign two books.
I have never seen Whoopi in person but this show was Awesome. I laughed most of the time. I would go see her again at any place. I would recommend this show to anyone who likes true stand up comedy.
Hysterical! Whoopi is highly entertaining and makes you laugh at everyday life things that happen.
Whoopi did not do any characters-period. I understand she said that was long ago but I may as well have been watching The View with a lot of swearing. The comedy portion lasted about 1:15 and then there was an hour of Q&A from the audience. There were some funny moments but not what I expected.
Her performance was a comedy filled speech. She starts with an opening line. She gave numerous jokes about anything related to opening joke. She concludes performance with jokes that makes show go full circle. She allowed questions and comments from audience at the end of show.
Best comedy act ever. I would pay to see her again! I had the best seats in the house!
Whoopie was great, sound system sucked! I had to watch the screen and lip read!!
This was not the View - Whoopi was......from Sex to smoking Pot
I really enjoyed Whoopi Goldberg. She was funny, entertaining, and very enjoyable. She was everything and more that I thought she would be. I loved her rawness. I expecially love how she shared her family and personal experiences which were hilarious and relatable. It was truly an awesome show!!!
I laughed so hard I cried. She let it be known that this wasn't TheView and she had us laughing the entire time.
What a great way to spend an evening. Whoopee Goldberg was great! I laughed for 2 hours straight. The venue at Motor City a Casino was an excellent theater for this event. I can't wait for her to come back again.
