We Will Rock You

Queen fans, rejoice that this grand production of Queen hits has finally arrived in North America (although it has played in Las Vegas). Don't miss your chance. Seriously. It's funny and makes a great point about music and where it's heading. And to have the opportunity to hear all those fantastic songs thumping in your chest is extraordinary. I've seen the London and Toronto productions and this one holds its own. I like that it's altered based on the country and time period. The cast is wonderful. I was unsure about Ruby Lewis at first. I was afraid she seemed quiet and timid for the role of Scaramouche. Then, she burst into "Somebody to Love" and I was put in my place! Her voice is amazing and strong. I'm a huge fan! All the leads have rich, strong voices that really do Freddie justice. They give it all they've got. I had the added bonus of seeing it on opening night in Baltimore and seeing Brian May, my favorite rock guitarist perform onstage with the cast to Bohemian Rhapsody. I've only had the chance to see him perform with the Queen + Paul Rodgers tour, so this was a real (and rare) treat. Every single person in that theatre was singing at the top of their lungs. Great experience. I've never written a review before, but I felt I had to share my excitement. I'm still reeling from the adrenaline rush I got from shaking Dr. May's hand after the performance. I'm not usually so emotional days after a show, but this was once-in-a-lifetime for me, I'm afraid. Please go see it!!! I will be back again on Sunday :-)
