This was a great low-key festival on a beautiful Saturday afternoon by the water in rhode island. The acts were all great, especially noting that it was real Jamaican and carribean groups (rather than California reggae rock). Kabaka Pyramid was amazing (though unfortunately his live band couldn't play due to tech difficulties. The food (i.e. jerk chicken) from local restaurants in RI was dope. Only recommendation would be to move it back to India point park in providence next year because there is more grass and better accessibility from providence (would also lead to a higher turnout probably).
The whole show was a great experience starting with the music, the food and the view from the park. Everyone in attendance was having a great time. Overall a great day.
Always an amazing time this is literally one of my favorite days of the year. I am already looking forward to next year!
Anthony B was by far the best this year. Always a great time with good people and food
I was disappointed because the sound checks too so long that the artist sets where cut short !! It was my first time there and I wasn't too impressed. I thought there would be more vendors. The vendors that were there were expensive. The port a potties ran out of toilet paper halfway through the day. The best part of the day was when the Wailees came on. Although it was 45 min later than scheduled !!!
The tickets were $51 which is way to expensive for an event like this because it didnt offer anything that justifies the cost. Most of the music I heard was covers from songs we already heard. For that price there should have been a big headliner there. This event should cost about $25. I would never recommend anyone to go to this.
Great vibes, felt safe, attentiveness at bar. Would recommend more shops next year.
Had an awesome time, loved the venue. Drink prices were very reasonable but the food was expensive. Paid $20 for a plate of food from Tina's Caribbean Restaurant that should have been $12 at the most. The food was good and the customer service was good but thought that was way too expensive. The atmosphere was very pleasant and I made new friends. I will be there next year!
Great Line up. Well managed venue. People / Crowd were great, fun and well behaved. Excelent food and merchandise vendors.
We did not stay the entire day as it was very hot, but the event was really well organized. The park space worked well for an outdoor concert venue, with a sloped hill for great views of the stage, and a decent amount of trees for shade. There was a good food selection, and high quality performances. Lots of friendly people too!
On a 99 degree day the last thing I wanted to do was listen to 2 1/2 hours of Omega Sound trying to pull it together and get the artists up and going. The Ravers were scheduled for 12:30 but didnt start til almost 3. There set was cut by 2/3 as well as the next band The Cornerstone. It seemed like hours in between bands. Jesse Royal finished his whole set despite being told to shut it down. It was amateur hour for sure on the soundboard and transition between acts. Also Omega sound had an announcer who couldnt have been more corny and out of touch. Communiaction back to audience was horrible they just pretended it wasnt an issue. Maxi Priest yelled to the soundman "please pull your stuff together, we trying to have a party!" Artsits seemed annoyed at situation and it showed throughout their sets. Alot of annoying feedback on monitors ect. Artists were good but sound took away for sure.
I had a wonderful time cant wait for next year. the location was the best!
Venue was great and the bands were fire. One thing they should work on is getting more food vendors. One vendor ran out of food (no names mentioned) and the other 2 had lines not worth waiting. I ended up starving until the concert was over to get food on the other side of Providence. It sucks when you can't get Caribbean food at a practically all Caribbean event.
I had the most awesome time with family and friends! The music was so fun! I loved the shops and stands. Mighty Mystic was my favorite!
I was a little skeptical of it being at India Point Park because the past 3 years I have been going to Newport & enjoyed it but I have to say who ever put this event together they did a fantastic job, the music line-up was great & Yellowman was a beast, all the workers of this event where friendly & helpful, can't wait until next years Reggae Fest
Fabulous time...great music, crowd etc. Much better location than in Newport
The lineup was 0n point and the 1st 3 bands were good, but the last 3 were great--Yellowman was like a youngster on stage for his age running and high stepping the whole time while up there. His band was great and he fired the place up. Third world was next and they played some house favorites and also mixed it up with some jazzy tunes. They saved the best for last,,,Steel Pulse was superb, awesome, they laid down the tracks and brought the funk with the message from lead vocalist David Hinds,,,,the crowd couldn't get enough of the Pulse,,,we quite simply had a wonderful time. The only downer was there should have been more food trucks,,,the lines were too long and one of the venders ran out of food early in the afternoon (Half tree). they should have been more prepared.
The whole show was amazing! Yellow Man was fabulous! Thanks for filling in for Barrington Levy! Third World was up next and they were great! But, Steel Pulse killed it! They had everyone on their feet! Thanks everyone for a great show! Much love!
India Point Park was the perfect venue for this event! There was plenty of space for chairs and blankets as well as dancing. The crowd was respectful of your "space" as well. The sound was good with a nice view of the water. It was nice that you could leave the venue and come back later in the day with your hand stamped. Steel Pulse put on an excellent performance. The other bands were good, too. The only complaint was with the lines for the food vendors. There weren't enough vendors to support the 1,000+ crowd. We waited 2 hours in line for food at the vendor, Tina's Restaurant. We missed the entire Yellowman show. There should have more employees at the stand and more than one smoker. Other than that, I'd definitely attend another show at India Point Park and hope that reggae fest will be held there instead of in Newport going forth.
