    Skatalites

by ticketholderguy on 3/1/13Howard Theatre - Washington

Great show, great music, lots of brass, nice crowd of people, dancing, and Doreen Shaffer's singing made it a perfect outing. Wife and I danced the whole show. Much needed relief during the work week. Nice chill crowd and vibe. Thank you Skatalites!

    Phenomenal!

by Brjoro on 3/1/13Howard Theatre - Washington

Went to see The Skatalites with a friend. Honestly it was a combination of a chance to hang with a friend, a chance to see a show at the beautiful new Howard Theater, and we both were aware of and dug The Skatalites. Now the band touring in 2013 is NOT really The Skatalites, there is only one remaining original member. BUT, he has assembled an absolutely phenomenal band that puts on a dynamic and exciting 2-hour show of amazing ska/reggae. Can't recommend this highly enough!!

Great show by the grandfathers of reggae. Great mood, and gets you dancing if you want to or not! Ball of Fire is one of the greatest albums of all time and they were every bit as tight live as recorded. Special guest singers were also great, one felt the passion even after all these years. They played all the classics: Freedom sound, Occupation, Eastern Standard Time, Guns of Navarone, ect these songs have been ringing in my head for a long time and will last an eternity. Simple and full of life, yet jazzy and complex. It was an honor to see them live and up close in a small venue. A real treat.
