Washington Wizards History

Founded in 1961, the Washington Wizards franchise has called Chicago, Baltimore, Landover, Maryland. and Washington, D.C. home. Known earlier as the Packers, Zephyrs and Bullets, the franchise changed its name to the Wizards in 1997.

After earning two playoff appearances in their first five seasons in Baltimore, the team started a formidable run of postseason success starting in the 1968–69 season. Led by Hall of Famers Earl Monroe and Wes Unseld (and later Elvin Hayes), the Bullets went to the playoffs 12 seasons in a row, including four trips to the Finals and a championship in 1978. Behind an MVP performance from Unseld, Washington defeated Seattle in a decisive Game 7 to clinch the title.

Five consecutive postseason appearances highlighted the Bullets’ 80s. The franchise bounced back in the early 2000s, built around the core of Gilbert Arenas, Antawn Jamison and Caron Butler. That trio led Washington to four straight playoff appearances from 2005–2008. Since then, the Wizards have qualified for the postseason five times behind All-Stars John Wall and Bradley Beal, the latter of which became one of six players in NBA history to average 30-plus points per game in back-to-back seasons.

There is a room for a gift to every fan who entering like a small towel and even a t shirt at your chair Another thought is when a lot of empty chairs to give the fans a chance to come closer

Bar stools should not be be first come first serve if tickets are being sold by assigned seats

  • good game

Well organized The only issue is the limitation of bags. Have to pay $17 to rent a storage. Kind of expensive.

  • A+ Experience

by RVATray on 3/24/22Capital One Arena - WashingtonRating: 5 out of 5

Had a great time at last Saturday's Wizards game vs. the Lakers. It seemed like the crowd was 50% Washington and 50% LA which made for a great atmosphere. The game itself was entertaining with a very competitive 4th quarter. Enjoyed my first time in the Capital Center -- section 202 was great. I am short and was worried that someone tall in front of me would block my view but the stadium seating is steep enough so that was not a problem at all.

i was in section 211. Perfect view. I'm satisfied, wanna back

  • 400 section seats

    by 400 on 3/22/22Capital One Arena - WashingtonRating: 3 out of 5

We were in section 401; these seats are narrower than the 200 section. The view was fine, but the seats were tight. There is not enough room for people to put there drinks in the cup holders if someone is sitting next to you.

I decided to take my son as an early birthday gift. He loves Lebron as an athlete. It was our first live NBA game, and it was so much fun. We truly enjoyed ourselves. It made my son's day...and that's priceless.

First off, the website is super user friendly and easy to navigate. It was so easy to find the tickets I wanted and complete the payment. Then they sent enough emails to keep me updated on what I had to do. They didn’t overload my inbox. I will definitely use ticket master again!

  • Wonderful

by Jiddabug on 2/28/22Capital One Arena - WashingtonRating: 5 out of 5

This was a great experience. It was nice to see the players, coaches and both teams played well. The fact it was double overtime was even great. Wish I can get courtside seats. Still overall experience was great, food was great and the service was great.

  • Rules that don't make sense & way overpriced food.

by DC fan on 2/28/22Capital One Arena - WashingtonRating: 1 out of 5

Like to come to games in person after such a long pandemic. But some rules are outright crazy. For example, can't take water in reusable bottles from home (not commercial bottled water). Really !! so much for trying to save the planet from plastic bottles !! Also, when you buy water there, they remove the cap before handing it to you !! Why?? I understand opening beer tins so you don't take it out of the arena (supposed to consumed in house). But water ... why remove caps on water bottles? And everything is way overpriced !! I guess I should just watch games from home !!

  • Way.too.loud.

    by M on 2/15/22Capital One Arena - WashingtonRating: 2 out of 5

Watching hoops is always a good time. But it was almost hard to enjoy with the volume up as high as it was. With fingers in my ears, I could understand everything more than clearly. And the music never stopped so it was distracting in terms of keeping track of the starting and stopping of the real action on the court.

  • The overall gane experience was good.

by KT on 2/10/22Capital One Arena - WashingtonRating: 4 out of 5

Staff interactions were excellent, food great and seat location was good but at six foot four my $300.00 dollar seats were the worse.

  • Good experience!

by Wizards vs Phoenix on 2/8/22Capital One Arena - WashingtonRating: 4 out of 5

First NBA game of the year. Ok game but Bradley Beal didn’t play. The arena was nice and lively. The seats on the lower level were small in comparison to other nba arenas I have been to especially at lower level pricing. Parking was good and available around the arena. Food was good. Greeters were nice. Easy in and out.

  • Wizards Game

by Brandon on 2/8/22Capital One Arena - WashingtonRating: 5 out of 5

I had a great time at the game. The staff was excellent. Even post Covid-19 the way they handle screening people before the game awesome…. Can’t wait till my next game.

  • Amazing Experience

    by T on 2/8/22Capital One Arena - WashingtonRating: 5 out of 5

We had such a great time the staff was awesome.Great seats our kids enjoyed everything!!!

  • Bad team.... bad accoustics

by Steve M on 2/8/22Capital One Arena - WashingtonRating: 3 out of 5

The team is bad! but that has nothing to do with the arena. There was actually a fairly large lively crowd but the sound system and DJ were too loud and the sound was distorted. Music was fine but it was cranked up to 11 and was difficult to hear the PA announcer.

  • Anybody can have a career night on us

by Perro on 1/26/22Capital One Arena - WashingtonRating: 1 out of 5

It was sad to see Tatum got off like that and kuz or Dani doesn’t accept the Challenge to guard! Fast forward to the next game we up 30 points and cough that lead away what’s going on

  • Great Experience

by JEM on 1/22/22Capital One Arena - WashingtonRating: 5 out of 5

The game was great. Our team won and great seats. We were able to see all the excitement

  • Great game, too much focus on betting and alcohol

    by J-NC on 1/22/22Capital One Arena - WashingtonRating: 4 out of 5

Capital one arena staff were great but we felt unsafe outside. There are too many people with loud speakers set up singing and performing outside of the arena. There are people harassing you for money as you walk around before the arena opens. We wished there were more kid friendly food items like ice cream. They seem to push alcohol and gambling mainly which is not family- friendly. Sad for a sporting event. Felt more like Vegas than a professional sports event.
