Washington Mystics History
The Washington Mystics are a professional women's basketball team in the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). Since their introduction in 1998 as one of the WNBA’s first expansion franchises, the Mystics have topped the Eastern Conference twice and won the WNBA Finals in 2019. The team was led in their early seasons by multi-season rebounding champion Chamique Holdsclaw and four-time All-Star Alana Beard. The Mystics reached their first Finals in 2018 behind the play of two-time WNBA MVP Elena Delle Donne. Washington returned to the Finals in 2019, winning a thrilling 3-2 series against the Connecticut Sun and delivering D.C. its first professional basketball title since 1978. Delle Donne won her second career MVP in 2019 while shooting the WNBA’s only 50-40-90 season, and teammate Natasha Cloud was named the WNBA Defensive Player of the Year in 2022.

Mystics
by Birds on 8/21/11Verizon Center - WashingtonRating: 3 out of 5It was fun to watch our first WNBA game at the Verizon Center. The "Family Fun" pack was a disappointing misunderstanding. It is advertised as four tix and two pizzas. The "pizzas" were vouchers for pizza from a Papa John's at another time, not at the game.
UGLY, UGLY, UGLY!!!
by JDKLpa on 8/21/11Verizon Center - WashingtonRating: 1 out of 5While my family absolutely loves the women's game and we consider ourselves loyal Mystics fans and we try to get to at least a couple home games a year (traveling from PA), this may be the so-called "ugliest" basketball I've ever seen. Poor defensive rebounding...seemingly zero desire to get out and "RUN the floor" on fast-breaks...standing around on offense - near zero movement!!! Again, ugly, ugly, ugly, especially when you are with your daughter and she is trying to learn the game. At least it gave us an opportunity to show her what not to do and how to lose a game. In fact, one of the Mystics players after the game even addressed the crowd via the sound system and appoligized for the lose and said they would try harder next time- it was that ugly! I've been attending live basketball games for 35+ years and I never recall a player or organization doing such immediately following the end of a game...Maybe we'll try again next year?

Awesome game! I'm a huge fan of the WNBA and love rooting for my home team. They've got great talent and I'm excited for what the future holds for this team.
Great experience
by NYLibfan on 8/8/11Verizon Center - WashingtonRating: 4 out of 5To start it was really convenient picking my seats, since the friends I went with already had tickets, we were able to get seats close together. The arena was great! Easy to maneuver, and the view of the game was spectacular!

Great Atmosphere
by tryto on 8/8/11Verizon Center - WashingtonRating: 4 out of 5Went to watch the Mystics vs. NY Liberty with a friend from out of town. This was her first time visiting DC. She had a wonderful time and was impressed with the Verizon Center. Great seats and great service!
The Girls are HOT
by Josieyxxxx on 8/3/11Verizon Center - WashingtonRating: 5 out of 5What a game! Even though the Mystics missed many shots and appeared they couldn't even buy one, the score was very close, in fact it was tied up until the final shot---AT the buzzer. Even though they lost it was an exciting game and had the crowd hollering amd standing on their feet. If only they could of made one of the many missed 3 pointers....but then again that is basketball. I'll definitley be back to cheer them on again.
Fever won!
by ksdfever1 on 8/1/11Verizon Center - WashingtonRating: 4 out of 5Good game. Mystics are definitely better than their record. I'm Fever fan in Baltimore for a while. Had to see my Fever. I root for Mystics if not playing Fever. Can't wait for Mystics to gel and show everyone what they can really do. Fans were involved but noone gave me grief for my Fever shirt.
Great game right up to the end
by PerfectAngel9 on 7/31/11Verizon Center - WashingtonRating: 4 out of 5If the Mystics had won (and it looked like they would up until 10 seconds) I would have rated this excellent. It was a well played game on both sides. I'll be back!
Mystics Efforts
by Dov47 on 7/31/11Verizon Center - WashingtonRating: 3 out of 5This was a well played game. The Mystics played hard .They came back to tie and go ahead of the Indiana Fever. They need to make more of their shots count, especially when in the paint. I would definitely attend more games.
Mystics and Verizon Center Delivered
by ShckByte on 7/28/11Verizon Center - WashingtonRating: 4 out of 5My daughter and I attended the Mystics game for her 15th birthday and we had a great time. The entertainment before and during the show was fun. We had great seats and the crowd was respectful as well as the staff. Need to do it again!
