    Wanda was a trooper

by MJLawe on 2/26/11Bowery Ballroom - NEW YORK

I was excited to see Wanda Jackson for the first time, so it's unfortunate that she had laryngitis, which limited her performance. I would gladly see her again, and I am under the impression that we can use our ticket stubs to see her for free next time she's in town, which many be in a couple of months.

    Wanda Rocked!

by BarbaraJN on 2/26/11Bowery Ballroom - NEW YORK

Rocks harder at 73 than most 20 year olds! Can't wait to see her again!

    looking for Jack White

by JohnnyPanic on 2/26/11Bowery Ballroom - NEW YORK

I may be mistaken; but this was originally billed as featuring Jack White, but he was notably absent. This was a big disappointment. That said, Wanda was feisty and engaged well with the audience. Her voical range was limited due to being under the weather, but she managed to rock the place.

    Outstanding

by Usarik on 2/26/11Royale Boston - Boston

Wanda Jackson was amazing! She was late because of traffic issues, but still performed an excellent set even though she was not feeling well . She promised to come back in a couple of months when she feels better and will honor all tickets from this show. I don't know of any current performer who would have even gone on stage feeling like Wanda did let alone promise to come back and honor tickets. The Lustre Kings were amazing as her opening act and as her back up band. I can not wait to see Wanda at full strength!

    Wanda Needs a Watch

by RocketJSquirrel on 2/26/11Royale Boston - Boston

She would've been better if she hadn't started two hours late. Definitely not the right venue to keep patrons waiting, standing. The old Wanda was better - before Jack White took over.

Could of been a Great Show

by Dannobikes on 2/26/11Royale Boston - Boston

There I was expecting one of the best concerts of my life seeing a legend on stage. The wait between the opening band and the headliner was almost 2 hours, completely unacceptable. Then she could barely sing any of the songs having laryngitis. They should of canceled the show and refunded our money. Also the venue was overpriced for drinks, 9 bucks almost all ice, and in the smallest cups I've ever been given a drink in. I felt ripped off.

    wanada jackson is the queen

    by njki7 on 2/25/11royale, boston - boston

this show was absolutely fantastic! although being a little late and feeling under the weather, she was well worth the wait and 3 hour drive! i love her voice and her stories from her past. her songs are amazing and even better live. hearing some people complaining was upsetting, guess it was too late for them. wanda was kind enough to sign autographs and shake our little hands!

    Royale should have offered refunds!

by Bastress on 2/25/11Royale Boston - Boston

After making everyone wait until 10:30 pm for a 7 pm show, Wanda Jackson finally showed up onstage to announce she had laryngitis. Everyone seems to want to say they saw a legend and don't really care about the music. I wanted the music and was hugely disappointed. It seemed really unprofessional on every level and I don't think much of the Royale as a venue because of how they handled this.

    Such a disappointment!

by BuckarooGal on 2/25/11Royale Boston - Boston

I jumped on these tickets the minute they went on sale - Wanda Jackson's such an icon of women in rockabilly and "outlaw" country music. On the night of the show, however -- a weeknight (read: work tomorrow) -- my friend and I had to throw in the towel, after waiting and waiting for her to take the stage. Ninety minutes after the opener went off, she *still* wasn't there! The venue made no announcement while everyone milled around awkwardly, yawning ... Informal word from the staff was that she wasn't even in the building yet! Many of us, in a largely over-40 crowd, gave up and went home, disappointed. I waited 'til the last possible minute to leave - needing to catch one of the last available trains home. She did eventually arrive, according to the venue (when they declined my request for a refund) and apparently played a set, but many of us who love her music never got to hear her. These things happen, but at the price of tickets, I'd think twice about both Ms. Jackson and the venue before making another purchase. Very sad .... and a lot of lost time and money ...

Coolest show in a long time!

by Macoule30 on 1/28/11El Rey Theatre - Los Angeles

Remember that scene in Back To The Future where Marty McFly blows everyone at the dance away with his amped up (albeit horribly lip synched) version of Johnny B. Goode? That's what this show was like. This is what it would have been like to go see a fantastic R&B band in the late fifties/early sixties where the musicians were really allowed to let loose and play beyond conventions. Can't believe Wanda is still kicking after all these years. It was great hearing all those great old songs. Throughout the show Jack White seemed a little distracted or in a hurry to get through the numbers. Or he at least looked like he had heard Wanda tell the same jokes night after night and it wasn't fresh for him anymore. But his guitar work proved he wasn't sleepwalking. First time I've seen him live and I am a believer. There was much more soul in the music than there was rockabilly or country. The guy on pedal steel KILLED!

Wanda the Queen & Jack the Human Volcano

by Remain on 1/27/11El Rey Theatre - Los Angeles

Wanda Jackson at age 73 is just as electrifying as the day she started. Her voice was so beautiful when she was singing her ballads, but super gritty when she was doing some faster tunes. Jack White & the Third man house band backed her, and watching Jack play is like seeing an active volcano erupting. He had full control of the stage the entire time and all you could do was wait in anticipation for the next solo to happen. The band was also amazing. Rich Gilbert (pedal steel), Ruby Amanfu, Ashley Monroe (vocals), Dominic Davis (bass), Justin Carpenter (trombone), Leif Shires (trumpet), Craig Swift (saxophone), Olivia Jean (guitar), Joey Waronker (drums), and Joe Gillis (keys).

    Wanda Jackson was breathtaking!!!!!!

by Kittys66 on 1/27/11El Rey Theatre - Los Angeles

Wanda Jackson was unbelievably amazing, incredible, and totally unforgettable! Jack White and the band were awesome too! It was one of the most unforgettable shows I have ever been to! I feel extremely lucky to have been able to see her! I wish only she had played longer. I also wish she had more shows. At one point I closed my eyes and Wanda totally took me back in time with her beautiful and amazing voice. I only hope and wish she comes back to L.A. one more time at the end of her tour. I will surely go to another show. Wanda is a delight and her chemistry with Jack and the whole band was outstanding. I thank her and Jack for giving and sharing the gift of such beautiful music. Thank you Wanda and Jack!!!

    A Legend

by LaCindy on 1/26/11El Rey Theatre - Los Angeles

I am so glad that I have seen the legend Wanda Jackson and a future legend Jack White. I enjoyed how she interacted with the crowd and worked alongside her band to make the night be so natural. I have seen her performances on YouTube and never thought I would see her in person because I thought her moment in music was already in history, and this is why I appreciate Jack White and his interest in reviving her musical talents. She has soul and so does he, what a great match. I got goose bumps when her voice rumbled and reminded everyone that no one else can sing it like her.

    Wanda Jackson

by MNK1 on 1/26/11El Rey Theatre - Los Angeles

Ms. Jackson was a hoot. Her squeaky southern voice and her 1950s ethos were perfect for a Monday night show at the grand old El Rey theatre. Jack White is undoubtedly a rock star. As a product of all the great 1970s rock shows, I'm greatful to know that my teenage daughters have a true rock star for their generation in Mr. White. I would recommend Ms. Jackson to everyone. I would further recommend that whatever incarnation (White Stripes, Dead Weather, ect) Mr. White chooses next but your ticket, you will not be disappointed.

Wanda and Jack are born to play together

by DanaP on 1/26/11El Rey Theatre - Los Angeles

From the moment the stage lit up you could feel the pulsating energy from musicians. Just one lick of Jack's guitar and you knew the evening was going to be electric. This was a great intro for the Queen of Rockabilly... Wanda's voice was as pure and precise as a fine tuned instrument. Her instrument is timeless and she can still bring down the house. People will remember this evening for years to come!!!

WANDA JACKSON ,EL REY LOS ANGELES CA

by Anonymous on 1/26/11El Rey Theatre - Los Angeles

The day of the event I was looking forward to see wanda jackson I was very disapointed to see that the entire show revolved around Mr jack white, The music coming from the band was overpowering wanda's voice and the streaming of mr white's guitar were exagerated for the style of the music I would not recommend anybody attending this show it was a waste of money. lesson learned there is music such as of wanda jackson's that should remain unchanged for generations to enjoy.....
