Legendary 4x-Blues Music Award-Winning Guitarist, Singer & Songwriter WALTER TROUT is one of the greatest Blues Rock Guitarists - ever! Most recently, his song 'Just Out of Tears' won the 2021 Blues Music Award "Song of the Year". Walter has been Nominated 12 times for "Blues Rock Album of the Year" - winning the award in 2016 ('Battle Scars') and 2018 ('We're All In This Together'). Trout also won "Song of the Year" in 2016.
Walter Trout has been nothing short of prolific over the course of his seven decades on this Earth. He’s released 30 solo albums over a career that has spanned the globe, and delivered notoriety as one of the great purveyors of the blues and blues rock. Trout's history is equal parts thriller, romance, suspense and horror. There are musical fireworks, critical acclaim and fists-aloft triumph, offset by wilderness years, brushes with the jaws of narcotic oblivion, and the survival of an organ transplant few come back from.
When Trout walked away from the John Mayall & The Bluesbreakers, he embarked on a solo career that has yielded a catalogue that has established a deep legacy in the world of Blues, Americana, and the realm of revered singer-songwriters. While many would slow down as they get older, Trout continues to deliver inspired recordings, performances, and a voice that articulates relevant ideology and insights in to The World that inspires his deep perspective. There’s no autopilot emanating from Walter Trout, but a true a sense of growing momentum, elements of surprise, and repertoire that continues to be more compelling with each new creation.
as usual - trout never puts on a bad show...he's just tooooo awesome !
Walter and the band were clearly thrilled to play to a full house at a great venue (Showcase Live). The energy level of the band and the room was over the top.
While Walter Trout is clearly a gifted guitarist, his show last night suffered on several levels. Like many frontmen in the blues world, his vocals are average at best. During several songs, he bought on stage Andrew Eld for back up and he clearly was the better singer. His band was also average. I was convinced that the keyboardist only knew how to play with one hand as he played the same top of the board riffs over and over. Trout would do well to makeover this band.
Walter is one of the most high energy blues performers I have ever seen. 2nd time was even better than the first. Puts on a fabulous show - every member of his band is a virtuoso. Even the opening act, Delta Generators, was incredible! The lead singer and the lead guitar were great! One of the best shows I've ever seen.
Just an amazing show! Opening act was the Delta Generators, who were a pleasant surprise. I had heard of them, but this was my first time seeing them. They were a tight professional band. Their first song sounded amazingly like George Thoroughgood, they got that "Delware slide" sound down pat. Good lead guitar player, nice vocalist who played some great blues harp. Very nice percussionist. I brought one of their CD's in the lobby afterwards. The band members were very personable and friendly. I enjoyed talking with them. Walter and his band were simply amazing. Walter came out and complimented the lead guitarist for the Delta Generators. Then Walter began playing and soared to new heights! He got hotter and hotter as the night went on. A very pleasant surprise was Sammy, on the keyboards. He was amazing. It was clear he was really enjoying himself, he had a shit eatting grin on his face most of the night. Walter introduced him, and told us Sammy was going to sing a blues song he wrote. Sammy really had a voice for the blues. I can't say enough about Walter's playing, he just blistered that guitar. I met Walter after the show in the lobby where he signed autographs for fans. He was very down to earth and friendly, just one of us earth people. A very nice man, not arrogant and stuck up like some performers. This was my second time seeing Walter. I would highly recommend his show for those who have not checked him out. He just keeps getting better, and clearly enjoys playing, and entertaining the audience.
Walter engages the crowd and then lets them have it with his quintessential guitar playing. He's master, no doubt about and mixing his blues with rock let him blow up the Traf. His band is great, featuring Sammy on the keyboard, and the road manger showed vocal ranges only a few mortals can do.
Walter Trout and the Radicals never fail to deliver because every member gives a full measure to their performance. The extent to which Trout can bring life to his guitar, to include a "vocabulary" of sounds, is a treat for the ears. He plays to and interacts with his audience, and that's what makes him appeal to his fans.
This makes my 4th Walter Trout show and it was by far the best. He is a great showman. The crowd was really into it and the bands' enthusiasm showed through. I brought a young, 1st time blues witness with me. I think he's a complete convert from whatever he was into before... It's true what they say; an artist appears to respond to the smaller venues with great energy... You could not possibly have left the Tralf without being a fan...
1st things 1st, the Tralf is a very cool, yet intimate setting for a show. Recent remodel at the Tralf made it even more enjoyable. Now to the shows review...Walter Trout is probably one of the most understated "electric blues" guitarists of this era. As a blues-rock musician for over 30 years, all I can say is Walter Trout comes out with "guns a blazin'" from song one. Not too many players that can do that, but he puts so much heart and soul into his playing that no one wants him to stop playing...and guess what? He doesn't stop playing. He plays long, lenghty solos that take you to another place, who'd want to stop that? He plays well into the crowd and comes out after what must have been an exhausting show and signs CD's and autographs for fans. Walter, you're my hero!!!
Excellant, high energy, would definately see again
Never seen Trout before and only herd two songs on Sirrus radio. Trout was FLIPPIN AMAZING!!!
Walter Trout came out and looked to be having fun most of the night. Can't say enough when a band enjoys themselves it seaps into the room and effected the entire room. The audiences was right there going through the emotions his songs projected. The entire band was on their game last night including the bass player, drummer, and keyboardist. Its a show I would recommended to any blues rock lover!
Walter Trout is simply himself. With talent abounding, he comes across as a regular guy with a heart and soul for music. His abilities as a guitarist can be matched by few. He plays to the crowd and does not let ego get in the way. The band backing him were exceptionally tight. Each band member seemed to be enjoying themselves as they showcased their talents. Not a lot of flashy showmanship, but pure musical genius.
WALTER WAS SMOKEN ON FRIDAY. FORST TIME SEEING HIM BUT HAVE ALL DISC'S HOOKER WAS ALSO GREAT
the opening act, john nemeth blues band was great.
I have never seen a guitar player that close up that was that good. Unbelievable. Every member of the group was top rate. The organist was also one of the best I have ever seen
AFTER WAITING FOR MONTHS TO SEE ONE OF MY FAVORITE BLUES GUITARISTS, WALTER TROUT,....HE PLAYED FOR ABOUT AN HOUR AND THAT INCLUDED THE ENCORE........THE SET WAS WAY TO SHORT.......HE COULD HAVE DONE A FEW MORE SONGS......SOMEWHAT DISSAPPOINTED..............
Trout is a guitar God!!!!!!!! It was well worth the 20 dollar ticket. Can't wait till he comes back to Phoenix.
