  • Best VNV show I've seen

by ExileJedi on 7/13/09Peabody's Downunder - ClevelandRating: 5 out of 5

Frontman/leader Ronan Harris is nursing a knee injury, but you'd hardly know it from the intense energy he brought to last night's show; he barely stopped bouncing around long enough for concertgoers to snap photos. In an especially small and intimate venue, they didn't actually have space to set up their trademark projection/video setup, so to make up for it we were treated to a special extended setlist full of (relative) rarities. The new material is solid and very enjoyable, and the older selections were all favorites--I was completely happy to lose myself for a couple of hours in a sea of infectious energy. There's a genuine connection between the band and audience during the show that I've never seen with other acts; Ronan and company clearly find incredible joy in making the audience feel special. Highly, highly, highly recommended.

  • Vnv Nation--so worth it.

This concert was unbelievable. I recommend this band to everyone, period.

  • VNV Nation Was Fantastic, Again!

by gothgirl on 7/13/09Peabody's Downunder - ClevelandRating: 5 out of 5

This is the second time I've seen VNV Nation at Peabody's in Cleveland, and again the show was great. Ronan Harris is entertaining, talks in between songs, gives background on main songs, and picked a great set list. They played several new songs, plus older ones like Standing, and recent ones like Chrome. Really great time.

by Revielle on 7/13/09Peabody's Downunder - ClevelandRating: 5 out of 5

It was... completely amazing. A fantastic performance. The crowd was good and we got good spots on the floor....and a personal dedication of the song, "Illusion." :^D Incredible.

  • Astounding!

by ScottAlan on 7/13/09Peabody's Downunder - ClevelandRating: 5 out of 5

The band was full of energy as usual, but seemed to be in even a better mood than usual and sang extra songs. All the music was impeccably belted out to the great delight of the crowd which sat mesmerized through the entire show. Both new tracks from the lastest CD and classic tracks were played. The band is coming back in November, I will DEFINITELY be there. Ronan talked more than usual and I really enjoyed that too.

  • VNV Nation, incredible

by Flone on 7/13/09Peabody's Downunder - ClevelandRating: 5 out of 5

Was the most uplifting concert I have ever been to. Ronan and Mark are masters of their work. Peaboy's was cool too, no confusion at the ticket counter, security was good and effective when telling drunk idiots to calm down, was all in all an awesome show. The city itself, Cleveland, sucks and I would of never of gone there if it wasn't for this show, And I probably will never go back unless VNV is playing there again. Nothing against Peabody's at all, but the city itself sucks.

  • Cleveland Rocked

by Ereviz on 7/13/09Peabody's Downunder - ClevelandRating: 5 out of 5

Ronan said he injured his leg at the Portland show so he took extra time between songs and was hilarious as he kept the crowd entertained with his jokes and comments. Not only does VNV Nation play great music but they are also great entertainers. They create a great vibe and get the crowd to participate and dance the whole time.

  • VNV was amazing House of Blues was upsetting

by Gremlinz on 7/13/09House of Blues Chicago - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

VNV Nation played an amazing set that was a mix of their older and newer music. Ronan was much more engaged with the audience then I have seen in the past which made the show 5 stars. The only thing I did not like was that House of Blues staff shut down the merchandise table while there was still 30 people in line. This make the only VNV Nation show I got no T-Shirt/ Worker shirt from.

  • VNV NATION forever! GREAT SHOW!!!

I loved everything about that show. Very energetic, and very fun. Really gets you going.

  • Great show!

by Jaison on 7/11/09House of Blues Chicago - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

The show opened up with Ayria, which is one of my favorite bands. Jennifer Parkin seemed very tired, though, and so their set lacked a lot of the usual energy. They played some songs from "Hearts for Bullets" and finished off with "My Revenge Against the World". Lackluster, if only for Ms. Parkin's lack of punch. Followed with War Tapes, which was a surprisingly decent band. Reminded me a lot of a combination of Muse and the Misfits (before Glenn Danzig got an attitude). A pleasant surprise. VNV Nation came on, and they were unbelievable. I'd enjoyed their music for a long time now, but had never seen them live. From the second the electronic pulse that preceded the show began, the crowd was wired. Ronan Harris (who bears a striking resemblance to actor Michael Chiklis) came out and electrified the room. Majority of the songs were from "Of Faith, Power and Glory" but they also did some classics from "Empires" and "Judgment" as well. Overall, an excellent show and well worth the price of admission. DO NOT MISS THIS TOUR.

  • Awesome energy at VNV Nation!

by solidsnake on 7/11/09House of Blues Chicago - ChicagoRating: 4 out of 5

This was my first VNV show and they really get the crowd going. It was good to hear some music from their newer stuff, like Sentinel, but it's always good to get down to Chrome. Actually, I came to see Ayria in the first place, and I was disappointed that their set was so short! Only about 5 songs. War Tapes I didn't care for, but I suppose some guitars served to mix things up a bit. If not for those 2 things, I would have given 5 stars.

  • VNV Nation Excellent As Always

by Damaia on 7/11/09House of Blues Chicago - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

Ronan and company put on another great show. I highly recommend them to all fans of electronica and industrial rock. Their energy and stage presence are not to be missed.

  • VNV Nation puts on one heck of a show

by MuzAshen on 7/11/09House of Blues Chicago - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

Ronan Harris and Mark Jackson of VNV nation pull out the stops in their concerts, that much can be seen from any of the videos online of on their dvds. What you don't learn about without going yourself is the very old-school celtic attitude they bring to their performance. Ronan engages the audience, talks to us, interacts heavily, tells us stories between songs, and genuinely cares enough to make sure that we are all having a good time. His high energy comes through and his lyrics and singing are full of emotion, and it looks like he has as much fun performing as we do in the audience. They did two encores, and the lead singer from one of the opening acts was running around on stage at one point, filming the audience. The acoustics of the House of Blues are awesome. Ayria was awesome as an opening act, and War Tapes was good, even if the genre wasn't exactly what we were expecting.

  • Absolutely the best concert I have ever seen!

by Deven on 7/11/09House of Blues Chicago - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

Not only was the music amazing and the show effects fantastic, Ronan is actually very amusing when he's working the crowd. His self deprecating humor was a blast.

  • Beautiful yet exciting!

by Chris87 on 7/11/09House of Blues Chicago - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

The opening acts were incredible and helped set the mood for the concert. VNV Nation came out and brought excitement to the crowd, getting them riled up to move and dance. Everyone participated, danced and jumped wildly. It was an amazing feeling. For one song, Ronan was not sure for the second verse and took out his lyrics but only glanced at it (even said it before the song started) and that brought respect for me because he was honest about it but still kept the crowd going, better than trying to lip sync or make up verses. Between every couple songs, he will take a break and start talking to the crowd which got them to laugh and cheer at him. Overall, VNV Nation was amazing yet moving.

  • VNV Nation House of Blues - Chicago

Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant as always. Everyone I ever take to see VNV becomes a convert.

  • VNV was all you Could have Hoped for, and More.

    by artangst on 7/9/09Station 4 - Saint PaulRating: 5 out of 5

A fantastic show. Even though I went into it well aware that Ronon and Mark were highly charismatic musicians, I was still blown away by how enthusiastic and mind-melting the show ended up being. Both openers, Ayria and War Tapes, were excellent, although War Tapes' style seemed perhaps a little bit out of place with the headliner. The lightshows were excellent, and the bass was loud enough you could feel your hair vibrating; exactly what I want from this sort of show. Ronon and Mark were funny and, of course, musically superb. If they tour near you, go. It is well worth any money spent. And please, cheer your ass off! The shows only get better when the audience gets more enthusiastic!

  • VNV Nation was worth it enough, but Ayria too!?

    by Chemiker on 7/9/09Station 4 - Saint PaulRating: 5 out of 5

at 30 dollars for a printed out ticket with taxes and convenience, this show was amazing and worth more than 30 dollars. We were garenteed War Tapes (which i was not excited for) and VNV Nation last...but when we got there, Ayria showed up as a surprise guest (which they are now finishing up the VNV Nation tour with them). Jennifer did a better job on the vocals than she did on the newest album themselves, and after VNV Nation we got to hang out PERSONALLY with Jennifer and Jeff (keyboardist) which was a NICE plus. on top of that, Ronin's personality REALLY showed in between songs and during, friendly asking for help when singing songs and getting the crowd truely involved. he'll allow you even to capture pictures and footage of the show (though, not the whole thing, after all you ARE there to enjoy and interact). merch was low priced and high quality. just a little tip though: dont be shy, really show the bands how amazing they are, especially Ayria, they did an amazing job and they were offered to play, theyre heavier kicking than VNV Nation but no one really showed support for them, dont let it happen again. and on that note, enjoy one of the perhaps best concerts you will ever experience, and if you think it wont be...Ronin and VNV Nation will make SURE it is. (also, we got to celebrate and sing to the birthday of Gabe-VNV Nation's keyboardist) if youre given the opportunity to go to this show, dont pass it up, even if you do not like the genre.

  • awesome

Very exciting. Couldn't keep still. I had to move. The accoustics were amazing and the lights were interesting. I would defitely reccomend VNV Nation to anyone looking for something new.

  • VNV Nation live - best concert experience ever!

    by VNVCitizen on 7/9/09Station 4 - Saint PaulRating: 5 out of 5

VNV Nation concerts have an energy I've not seen at other concerts. It is an evening where strangers are dancing, singing, laughing, crying, and celebrating together as one big knotted mess of humanity. Ronin and Mark make the event an unforgetable moment. In a word, awsome!
