    Music of Michael Jackson

by MeowMama on 4/25/11Chrysler Hall - Norfolk

My husband and I didn't know what to expect from this show as we had never heard of it before nor the main performer. We are both big fans of Michael Jackson's music, however, so we decided to take the risk. It was so totally worth it. From start to finish we were highly entertained by James Delisco as he performed many of Jackson's more well known selections. Not that he looked anything like Michael Jackson to us, but his voice and mannerisms, complete with moonwalking were as close to Jackson's as we've seen in a long time. From the high notes of "Ben" to the somber vocal of "Out of my Life," Delisco managed to make each song his own while at the same time giving the audience a way to imagine that Michael Jackson is still alive and well. Given the opportunity, we'd definitely see this show again. And hats off the the Virginia Symphony! Combined with the voice of Delisco, these performers came together in a perfect combination.

    Bell rocks the Chrysler

by kidlong on 4/25/11Chrysler Hall - Norfolk

It doesn't matter if you've never been to a classical concert. Joshua Bell, Joann Falletta and the Virginia Symphony gave a rock concert called The Violin Concerto in D major by Tchaikovsky. The artists were psyched, the musicians were psyched. Bell attacked the violin like Pete Townsend, then played so soft you could hear a pin drop in Chrysler Hall. Don't miss these folks while they're in their prime!! Unforgettable, amazing, Tchaikovsky Rules!

Michael's Music Is Still Very Much Alive

    by Lynnwhite729 on 4/25/11Chrysler Hall - Norfolk

The Virginia Symphony and the featured vocalists did an amazing job tributing the music of the King of Pop. I wish the show had a longer run, because I highly recommend it to any MJ fan and I would go again. I can't say enough about the symphony. Amazing!!

Joshua Bell and the VA symphony were fantastic! I've waited years to see Joshua Bell in person and it was worth it! The performance could not have been bettered. 4 bows and an encore! What a genius!

Joshua Bell and the VSO were amazing

by Navystud on 4/25/11Chrysler Hall - Norfolk

First off, the VSO did a wonderful job with the Cinderella Suite. The percussionists were spot on and the whole orchestra sounded amazing. Add JoAnn Falleta's dynamic, acrobatic conducting and you had a rollicking, moving experience. That moving experience carried into the violin concerto of the second half. Falleta and Bell, two physical musicians brought life, energy and intensity to the performance. I had read about Bell, seen pictures and you tube videos. To see him play in person was a wonderful experience. He makes it sound so easy!

Joshua Bell at the top of his game

by JDavey on 4/25/11Chrysler Hall - Norfolk

The whole evening performance, Virginia Symphony, and Joshua Bell was outstanding. The symphony showed off many talents in the Cinderella Suite by Prokokiev, and accompanied Bell to perfection. Joshua Bell is not only a top virtuoso violinist, but an excellent performer as well. The complete package, not to be missed! Have seen him twice, both amazing experiences.

    Cleve encore!

by TeeTom on 4/25/11Chrysler Hall - Norfolk

Extraordinary evening enjoying the Shostakovich Overture and absolutely the Joshua Bell performance. What a talented man! Loved all the dynamics and passion presented in his pieces and goes without saying that an encore was in order. Wonder on what basis he chose his encore theme? Very clever and delightfully performed! Bravo to Virginia Symphony accompaniment.

    Joshua Bell and Virginia Symphony

by nasturtium on 4/25/11Chrysler Hall - Norfolk

The entire concert was splendid. Well-played and a well-chosed program. Of course, the highlight was the magnificent Tchaikovsky concerto with the incomparable soloist, Joshua Bell. I'm so glad we got to be there, and thanks to VAF for making tickets so affordable.

    An A for effort!

by Normn on 4/24/11Chrysler Hall - Norfolk

The energy of the lead singer was terrific, as was the Symphony. Chrysler Hall is a wonderful venue and my experience with its acoustics has always been memorabl - I recall in particular when Joan Baez appeared here and sang arpeggio, it was truly amazing. Unfortunately on this occaision the sound left more than something to be desired. It could not have been the theater itself, but perhaps the engineering - nevertheless it marred the evening for us to a certain extent. Perhaps the sound engineer could comment......

by CLAYTOR on 4/24/11Chrysler Hall - Norfolk

I would recommend this show for all ages, especially families. James Delisco backed by the VSO and our local girl Felecia Barton had the folks dancing in their seats...Everyone involved with this production gave all they had to entertain you.

    Symphony and MJ was awesome!!!

by TrumpetMusiciansWife on 4/24/11Chrysler Hall - Norfolk

The concert was one of the best concerts that I have ever seen! The Symphony was extraordinary and the Michael Jackson impersonator was wonderful! The entire concert was full of energy and the performers did a great job of including the audience. The guys that did the light show were great too! Everything individually was great but when you put it all together, it was SPECTACULAR! BEST SHOW! I wish I had known it was gonna be that good and I would have brought more friends and family.

    Pure Michael Jackson Experience!

by Myndrunner on 4/24/11Chrysler Hall - Norfolk

I had a blast watching this show, Delisco truly embodies Michael's essence in voice and dance. The Virginia Symphony added to a fantastic ensemble of artists, including Felicia Barton who was also able to showcase her own vocal talents in a few featured songs. If you ever have been a fan of Michael's music, particularly his early works, then this concert is a MUST SEE!
