    Great Artists but...

    by A. M. on 7/13/21The HiFi Dallas - Dallas

Vintage Culture put on a great set at this brand new venue, the HI-FI. This venue has Mark Cuban's name to it so we expected nothing but top-notch. No complaints about the show itself or the artist but it was apparent that the sound was off. It was so high that the high notes were distorting. Someone has got to do better sound checks. The place was full of security and staff that were helpful. However, when I went to the VIP bar, they told me I had to leave my tab open w/ credit card when I told them to close it after my first purchase. They said they couldnt open & close it, yada yada whatever reason. So I left my ard with them reluctantly. When I came back to order a couple more drinks, they had a hard time finding my card and I am almost lost it. They kept my credit card in a cup with a dozen other credit cards. Definitely not doing that again, that was unprofessional. Finally, the venue itself was clean and new but the stage was lacking for the artist. The DJ booth was extremely small & plain. I was really shocked when he came out using the same booth/stage set up as the opener. And, I also expected a bump up in lighting and effects... but nothing changed. There were no lasers. just some house lights above that moved around with different colors and a small stage pressure air pumps. I feel like there is plenty room for improvement in the venue. They spent a lot of time on the design for seating and bars but they skipped out on the stage and lighting area big time. Sad, when I think Mark Cuban, I think much bigger than this. Kind of a let down.
