About

Singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Vince Gill has become one of the most celebrated country artists of all-time, selling over 24 million albums throughout his career and winning 20 Grammy Awards, more than any other male country artist in history. In 2013, he played for ticket holders in concert across North America and the U.K. and is scheduled to tour with George Strait in 2014. Born in 1957 in Oklahoma, he learned how to play several instruments including banjo and guitar as a child and played in a bluegrass band in high school. He joined the country band Pure Prairie League in the late 1970s before leaving the group in 1982 to pursue his solo career. He put out four solo albums in the 1980s, including 1984’s Turn Me Loose and 1989’s When I Call Your Name, before releasing the double platinum 1991 album Pocket Full of Gold. His next album, 1992’s I Still Believe in You, reached No. 10 on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart and sold over three million copies with hit singles “What the Cowgirls Do” and “Whenever You Come Around.” Gill’s 1993 Christmas album Let There Be Peace on Earth also went platinum, and 1994’s When Love Finds You peaked at No. 6 on the Billboard chart, his most successful album selling over four million copies. More commercial and critical success followed with 1996’s High Lonesome Sound and 1998’s The Key, and his next five solo albums reached the country top five, including 2000’s Let's Make Sure We Kiss Goodbye and 2006’s These Days. The Country Music Association has bestowed Gill with a total of 18 CMA Awards including two Entertainer of the Year awards and five Male Vocalist Awards, and in 2007, he was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame.

  • Vince was Awesome

    by Charlie S on 8/4/25Ovens Auditorium - CharlotteRating: 5 out of 5

The concert had to be 3 hours of music. The crowd was mellow , so not sure if that’s the way it is at a Vince Gill event? He told a lot of jokes and stories about life and music. Very engaging. Sound was crisp and we loved that steel guitar.

  • One of the most entertaining shows we’ve ever attended.

Vince Gill is one of the most incredible entertainers. A master of his instrument, funny and tireless. And that band and vocal backup singers were the icing on the cake!!

  • A fantastic evening with Vince Gill

by SM on 8/3/25Ovens Auditorium - CharlotteRating: 5 out of 5

For over 3 hours we were blessed with the smooth voice of Vince Gill, his amazing guitar skills, and humorous stories! His band is awesome and he seemed to be enjoying every minute while he performed. What a wonderful evening; wish I could see it again.

  • Vince has still got it!

by Lar on 8/3/25Ovens Auditorium - CharlotteRating: 5 out of 5

Vince Gill put on the best show I have seen in years. As a vocalist and a musician, he is still at the top of his game . He played for three hours and twenty minutes, sandwiching some excellent new material between most of the songs that made him famous, intermingled with the down home Oklahoma goodness that makes him seem like everyone’s best friend. I had tickets for the show a couple of years back that he had to cancel when his wife had her bicycle crash, so I absolutely wasn’t going to miss this one. The ticketing process was seamless, the venue was perfect and the sound was superb. It was absolutely a memorable evening.

  • A night with Vince Gill

by Leroy on 8/3/25Ovens Auditorium - CharlotteRating: 5 out of 5

A wonderful experience! Your life experiences will be reflected in song and they will make you smile the biggest smile with joy in your heart and take you to the darkest of times and bring a sadness that will make you cry! You will walk away thinking about how glad you are to have made the journey to hear the voice of a man that can bring out such emotions in his music. Also a shout out to a wonderful, best in class group of musicians and back up singer accompanying him to make the night so wonderful!

  • Still one of the best

by JennyB on 8/3/25Ovens Auditorium - CharlotteRating: 5 out of 5

Such a fantastic concert. Loved his stories about the songs and times. It felt like you were in his living room telling us old stories. 3 hours of nonstop great performances. Only “complaint” was on the venue itself. As the floors were so sticky everyone’s shoes were sticking to them. Heard many complaints around us about it.

  • Amazing Show!

by Vanessa on 8/3/25Ovens Auditorium - CharlotteRating: 5 out of 5

Vince still has it! He played for over 3 hours. It played all his old stuff & sprinkled in some new stuff.

  • Without a doubt, the best concert I have ever seen!

by Helen on 8/3/25Ovens Auditorium - CharlotteRating: 5 out of 5

Unbelievable! His ability to play the guitar; I have never seen/heard anything better. The piano player was soooo goo - reminded me of Bruce Hornsby, the steel guitar player was awesome....and the female vocalist who sang "Ode to Billy Joe"was gorgeous...... And of course, Vince Gill's voice has still got it! Very entertaining and awe-inspiring (especially at his age). All I could say leaving the concert was "WOW". When he comes back to Charlotte, I am there!

The venue was clean, the seats were great, the staff was amazing. They promptly removed a guest that was tipsy and rowdy, so that the rest of us could enjoy the show. Vince Gill and the band were awesome as always. I really enjoyed the evening.

  • Best show ever! Vince is the BEST!!!

by Muzette on 8/3/25Ovens Auditorium - CharlotteRating: 5 out of 5

This is a lovely venue with not a bad seat in the house!! They even pipe the sound out into the lobby and the restrooms, so you don’t miss anything. I could go on for a while about Vince Gill himself, but Vince was stellar as usual…absolute perfection and a voice beyond compare to any other artist. He played for over 3 hours, which was such a special treat!!! I’ve seen him so many times I don’t even remember but he’s never played a 3 hour + show…how generous!!! I’d recommend anyone for a show at this venue and especially to see Vince Gill…he’s a national treasure!❤️ I love him!!
