About

Five time Grammy Award winner Victor Wooten has been heralded as "the Michael Jordan of the bass" and "one of the most fearless musicians on the planet." His talent has led to invitations to record and perform with such luminaries as Bootsy Collins, Branford Marsalis, Keb Mo, Chic Corea, The Dave Matthews Band and the legendary Moroccan group Nass El Ghiwane, to name just a few.  He is also a founding member of the super-group Béla Fleck and the Flecktones.

Gerrard Allman Presents is proud to announce the return of Victor Wooten to Australia for a run of headline shows in May and June 2023.  In an Australian first, Victor will be performing with his band of (literal) brothers – The Wooten Brothers. Joseph (keys / vocals), Roy (percussion/vocals) and Regi (guitar/vocals).

For over four decades The Wooten Brothers have been recognised as some of the most innovative musicians in existence and are collectively known as one of the most talented and dynamic band of brothers the world has ever known. Since they were young, the five brothers (Rudy – a saxophonist, sadly passed away in 2010) have been a musical tour-de-force redefining the limits of jazz, funk, soul, R&B, rock and bluegrass.  Sons of military parents, the boys early years were spent living in Hawaii, California and Virginia – where they shared the stages with the likes of Curtis Mayfield, The Temptations, and many others.  In the mid-1980s, the brothers released an album as The Wootens for Clive Davis’ Arista Records.

Kicking off with 2 shows at Melbourne’s Memo Music Hall on Wednesday 24 and Thursday 25 May, the tour also takes in Adelaide’s The Gov on May 26, Freo Social Club in WA on May 27, Sydney’s Manning Bar on May 30 and Lizotte’s Newcastle on May 31 before finishing up at Brisbane’s Princess Theatre on June 1.  Tickets to all shows are on sale now.  Don’t miss.

  • An amazing amount of talent on one stage!!

    by Michele Gear-Cole on 5/16/22The Cabot - BeverlyRating: 5 out of 5

Bass Extremes was incredible! Such musicianship on one stage blows the mind! They are also nice guys! Loved Zoe Sparks as well! We brought our other band members with us, one of which have never seen these guys, and when sitting next to my drummer and Victor was playing solo, I heard him say, "What is happening?". Any show that any of these musicians are in, you can count on a spectacular show! Thank you Victor, Steve, Greg and Zoe! We got waaaaaay more than our money's worth! The only bad thing I have to say is about the Cabot balcony. The seats are way too small. My husband is 6ft tall and his legs were practically up to his chest. I felt the seats were even small for me, and I am small.

by SentimentalJourneyman on 4/14/18Berks Jazz Fest - ReadingRating: 5 out of 5

An absolute master of his craft. This concert was a vacation for my soul. First saw him with Bela Fleck in '94 and have enjoyed his work ever since. Words can't describe what a great performer he is - what a treat! Loved his interaction with and gratitude towards the audience and live music lovers everywhere. This guy is a class act - you won't be dissapointed. Great compliment with Dennis on drums and Bob on sax - sweet, sweet sounds; I'm still chill one week later thanks to this most excellent trio.

From the opening strains of Teen Town’s performance to Victor Wooten’s scintillating encore, the entire show was great! Even when Teen Town’s bass rig toppled, the show went off with great energy and musicianship. A pleasure to see Dennis Chambers live once again and Victor Wooten is always engaging and impressive!

  • Amazing energy

My first Victor Wooten concert but not my last. Music is playful and interesting. Teen Town (amazing teenage fusion jazz band)opened and Victor recognized them and gave props several times. That made me a fan.

  • Wow! Musicianship out of this world!

In awe of Teen Town's opening-youngster's rocking out jazz like the pro's! Amazing talent. Then Wooten wow's us with amazing magic! Can't believe how good his team is. Really shocked at how these musicians can make such magic!

  • Wooten for the WIN!!

by HippieSoul on 4/6/18Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts - RaleighRating: 5 out of 5

Victor Wooten is an amazing performer. He's seriously a genius on the bass guitar. His music reaches people of all ages, sexes, religions and races! He was so entertaining and the trio did a wonderful job. We'll definitely be back to see him again once he's back in town. The venue was clean and it seemed that any seat in the building was a great seat. LOVED the show.. can't wait to see him again soon.
