About

Vampire Weekend is a two-time Grammy-winning alternative rock band currently composed of frontman Ezra Koenig, bassist Chris Baio and drummer Chris Tomson. Emerging from the mid-aughts indie rock scene in New York City out of Columbia University, Vampire Weekend released their self-titled debut to immediate critical and commercial success in 2008, with the album debuting at No. 17 on the Billboard 200 and its breakout single “A-Punk” earning an RIAA platinum certification. The band’s 2010 follow-up Contra confirmed their ascent after debuting atop the Billboard 200, while the single “Cousins” became their first song to hit the Hot Rock & Alternative Songs chart. The band’s 2013’s effort Modern Vampires of the City similarly topped the Billboard 200 and garnered the band’s first Grammy Award. 2019’s Father of the Bride became their third album to debut at No. 1, and the album’s high watermark came from lead single “Harmony Hall,” which reached a career-best No. 5 on the Hot Rock & Alternative Songs chart. The album netted the band its second Grammy, and Vampire Weekend’s 2019 North American tour saw the band perform some of their biggest shows to date, including Madison Square Garden in New York.

    sharp short set

by e8e8e on 12/11/09McMenamins Crystal Ballroom - Portland

vampire weekend are what they are. i like that they keep with their basic sound, while mixing in new influences or styles. they didn't play everything i wanted to hear but i enjoyed hearing faves off their self-titled, new tracks i have heard online, and some others i wasn't familiar with. ezra's banter was funny and cute. one downside was the crowd was wayyy less energetic than i would've thought.

    best Christmas present ever!

by pdxparent on 12/11/09McMenamins Crystal Ballroom - Portland

Took my 13 year-old to his first Crystal Ballroom performance, to see one of his (and my) new favorite bands. In his words, the show was AWESOME. Vampire Weekend did a great job---perfect venue for them, they seemed really happy to be there, and their energy was terrific. We had a blast!

    Vampire Weekend, harmonious brillance.

by Lynn3 on 12/11/09McMenamins Crystal Ballroom - Portland

The White Rabbits, who opened first, were pretty fantastic. They have a melodiously heavy sound, & all worked well with & trusted one another. Their rhythms are the best I've heard from any up & coming band. & Vampire Weekend, WOW! Anyone who's ever enjoyed hearing their album needs to see the band play live. Experiencing their music in a live performance, you'll never listen to them the same again. You'll be better for it! They trust each other &, perhaps even more beautifully, trust the audience. One can tell by the smiles on their faces they're having a brilliant time. The joy & music they feel inside themselves translates into their playing, which then transcends into the bodies & souls of the audience. Energy was everywhere & one couldn't have helped but feel wonderously connected to every being in the room. I believe music can heal heavy hearts & lonely aches, Vampire Weekend's music does just that.

Vampire was awesome! Even if the rest were not.

by Ericrules42 on 12/11/09McMenamins Crystal Ballroom - Portland

The White Rabbits played some all right psychedelia at times, but overall, if it were not for their second drummer, I may have fallen asleep a few times. The chick who played two songs in the middle was so average I wont even use her name here. But..... Vampire Weekend was awesome! A good mix of old faves and new tracks, sing-alongs, and just a really great vibe throughout!

This was the last concert I'm seeing for my 4 shows in 8 days spend money on myself concert series... if you haven't seen VW in concert you are missing out is all I cna say. It is obvious from the moment they arrive on stage that they love fans and you are about to have a really good time. This show reaffirmed for me for another year of my life why I go to live shows.

    I LOVE Vampire Weekend!

by fitz505 on 11/12/09The Catalyst - Santa Cruz

Vampire Weekend was so amazing at the Catalyst in Santa Cruz! Yes, I have heard that the show was really short, but that is just because their songs are short. Their first cd is less than 40 minutes long. I really loved their show and they played every song I wanted to hear. They had great energy and I loved how they talked to the crowd! It was exciting to get a shout out to Santa Cruz since The Lost Boys helped inspire their name.

    Mosh Pit Shocker!

by Jenx42 on 11/10/09The Catalyst - Santa Cruz

This band is absolutely awesome live. They sound impeccable! They also have a happy vibe that I love. Everything about them was great. I just so happened to be in the worst possible place in the crowed though, cuz a mosh pit broke out on top of me, I think it was during A-Punk. I don't go to metal shows for a reason!! It's one thing if your at a show where people fully know that this might happen and would even like to participate, but at Vampire Weekend it's fricken ridiculous! So if you see an even sorta upbeat band in Santa Cruz and don't want to get crushed, stand further back or sit in a balcony.

Do not miss out on this if you live in California!

by marketrl87 on 11/10/09The Catalyst - Santa Cruz

To begin with, This was the greatest show I've been to in my whole life. Vampire Weekend is now officially my favorite band. I was a little bit anxious to hear the songs from their new album because I was afraid of being disappointed. However, Vampire Weekend did not let me down. What also surprised me was that the two songs I usually don't listen to from the old album, sounded really-really sensational live. By the end of the show they had everyone dancing (even in the upstairs VIP area). I plan on going to see them again before they finish up this California tour. It is that much worth it. Honestly, this group is amazing live. A funny thing that caught my eye was that Rostam looked so bored while he played the keyboard. But, what the heck was up with the opening band?
