Went to one symphony concert and after the experience I had to go to ALL of them. They were spectacular. We are forever fans.
I think this was my favorite VSO concert to date. The Mariachis together with the VSO was a treat, and the performance of Carmen made me want to start singing from the top of my lungs!
Excellent crisp, clear music by all musicians! Conductor was amusing at times but Great Job! First time attending. Con: people making noise with their purchased goods during the performance. No regard for others around them. Why is food allowed???
The music was good. But the experience was lacking. Parking was not clearly advertised so it was confusing. During the performance there was cell phones out recording the entire time, very annoying, (no attendants in sight). Someone was waving light sabers, others put on helmets (Darth Vader) it seemed more of a Comic-Con atmosphere then a symphony. To top it off, it seemed about 60% of the patrons around us were drinking Bud beers, "the stench was strong at this one". I supposed due it being music of Star Wars, the bar was lowered way down. I expected it to be a bit more casual and relaxed but a bar atmosphere was not at all what we expected.
The event was nothing short of a masterpiece. It was serene and exciting and every minute had me enthralled in the melodious scores.
The theme was Star Wars, yet they started with some pieces completely unrelated to the Saga, then when they finally got to the music about the movie, their performance wasn't the greatest, was a horrible mistake on one of the solo themes that completely ruined the performance. I made a sacrifice to pay 360.00 dollars to purchase 2 ticket on resale because there was no more in Ticketmaster, I understand people who buys multiple tickets with the sole interest in making some extra money is ok, but the tickets on the Ticketmaster site were 60.00, I would ask Ticketmaster to limit the resale price to be no more than 15%.
My family and I had a great time. The music was great. The venue is beautiful. But my favorite part of the evening is watching my little girl's eyes light up. Here's to another 70 years.
No intro to event and very short. Very disappointed for being the 70tj
It was a great experience, the sound and visuals were amazing.
The Valley Symphony was outstanding. Did not like the noise associated with items purchased at the concession stand. Too much of a distraction. I expect that at a movie house, certainly never at a symphony.
I enjoyed the experience immensely, listening to a great work of art live is much better than digital.
It was excellent!!! We enjoyed it from beginning to the end.
I really enjoyed the Symphony on October 25th at the McAllen PAC. I especially enjoyed and appreciated the Maestro taking the time to explain what we were going to hear after intermission when they performed the Brahms Symphony. His explanation and the symphony playing short snippets of each movement was reminiscent of Leonard Bernstein's "Young People's Concerts" so long ago. I learned a great deal and I'm clear that the audience became a little more educated about what they / we ere going to hear. I do hope that he continues to do this kind of "education" during future concerts. Well done!
I took my grandson who is 19 years of age, he likes the string instruments. My grandson does not leave the house unless it is something that he likes. He loved it as I did, especially he commented when the choir was added to the venue. My grandson and his family had been abroad for his entire life, they lived in Japan, England and Spain. He in fact was made in Japan. He felt safe and excited about the symphony and commented that he would do it again.
Beautiful venue. Great music. What a pleasant way to spend a family evening.
The Hollywood tunes last week was excellent! Enjoyed every minute.
We got these tickets so we could take our daughter in law and grandson to this performance. A wonderful time, the music was great and the entire staff was accommodating; our 11 year old grandson is confined to a wheelchair and he had a wonderful experience.
Excellent selections Rhapsody in Blue was stirring!
Beautiful music. Recommended for everyone to go experience in person.
I loved the first concert of the season. The guest artist was a joy to listen to. I am looking forward to the rest of the season.
