Utah Mammoth History
The Utah Mammoth (are a professional hockey franchise in the NHL that debuted as an expansion team ahead of the 2024-25 season. In its inaugural season, the team debuted with the temporary name Utah Hockey Club while a permanent name could be determined. Utah inherited the roster, organizational staff and assets of the Arizona Coyotes, who were suspended after failing to locate a new home arena at the end of the 2023-24 season, after an agreement between the NHL and Utah Jazz owner Ryan Smith. Utah also assumed the Coyotes’ place in the Central Division of the Western Conference, while entering the league as an entirely separate and new franchise. In May 2025, it was announced that the Utah Hockey Club would permanently be known as the Utah Mammoth.

The Utah Mammoth play at Delta Center(Opens in new tab) in downtown Salt Lake City, Utah. The team’s inaugural 2024-25 season featured their first home game in the preseason against the LA Kings on September 23, with their regular season debut against the Chicago Blackhawks taking place on October 8 and the season finale at home against the St. Louis Blues on April 15. Delta Center has previously hosted several preseason matches for the NHL since 2021, and served as the home rink for hockey games during the 2002 Winter Olympics.
