Underoath has been a seminal voice in progressive, heavy rock for almost two decades. When you look at the long list of bands that would be considered their contemporaries, very few can match Underoath when it comes to consistently pushing the envelope or the ability to evolve creatively without losing sight of what made them such a special band in the first place. This far into their storied career, the band has unsurprisingly faced their fair share of adversity. But through the trials and tribulations, a commitment to their craft and a sense of accountability rooted in mutual respect for each other has ensured that each new chapter for Underoath continues to shape their legacy in a positive fashion.

 

In 2020, as a global pandemic shook the foundation of the music industry, Underoath once again blazed a new path forward with their critically-acclaimed Observatory livestream. As interest in the digital consumption of live music seemed to be waning, the band breathed new life into the realm with a complete overhaul of the process – creating something equal parts intimate and monumental. It carried the weight of a sold out arena show translated through vessels consumable in fan’s living rooms. What made it all the more impactful was the fact that the entire initiative was dreamt up and brought to fruition largely by the band’s internal team. Thus, providing another shining reminder of the innovation that the six members on Underoath are capable of pulling together.

 

On the band’s 2018 Fearless Records debut, Erase Me, we saw a new side of Underoath. Having already established themselves both as melodic songwriters (2004’s RIAA-Certified Gold record They’re Only Chasing Safety) and as ambitious power merchants (2006’s gold-selling Define The Great Line and the majestic follow-up Lost In The Sound of Separation in 2008), the evolution detailed on Erase Me found Underoath using meticulously crafted sonic dialects that painted a vivid picture of how the band had grown artistically in the long layoff since their previous record.

 

With their shared history of remarkable accolades and trying hardships continuing to shape who the individual members are as people, Underoath is still just scratching the surface of what they can accomplish as a band. There are few acts in the annals of rock history that can say their best work is still ahead of them almost two decades into their career. Fortunately, Underoath falls into that category. As the world opens back up in 2021, the band is deeply committed to living up to the high expectations that fans (and themselves) have come to expect for anything associated with the project. It will undoubtedly be something special to witness as this next chapter in the Underoath story manifests.

    Enjoyed it as a newcomer

    I visited HOB Anaheim to see Periphery and was pleasantly surprised with Underoath, knowing almost nothing about them. They were energetic and engaged, blistering and tight. I had VIP seats but at certain times wished I was down in the pit!

    Venue good but maybe not for this particular tour

    Not much visual going on for this tour, maybe just wasn’t translated to hard rock Wheatland stage. GA floor space was nice, entry/rentry very nice and easy and drink lines were short.

    Loathe was Insane

    To be honest I came for my favorite band Periphery and they were pretty good but I think Loath stole the show. So much energy and raw talent in that group, their guitar tones were insanely fuzzy, and the vocalist sounded impeccable. Underoath was amazing as always

    UnderOath was amazing

    The show was electrifying, captivating and energetic! The crowd was easy to deal with, however the alcohol prices were kinda ridiculous, however, I, for one, will always keep coming back to Live Nation events bc of the great venues and experiences I have with friends every time. Ticketmaster is the way to go for ticket sales, and live nation supported venues rock! Keep the hard work!

    Insane

    I saw Underoath when they were touring with Loathe and Periphery. Loathe and Periphery were good, but Underoath was insane. The vocals and instrumentals were all fantastic. They played a lot too, I think about 13 or 14 songs total. Spencer even came into the audience that was in the pit and finished the last song and crowdsurfer back to the front. It was amazing!

    10/10 recommend getting a VIP experience if you ever see Underoath live. They’re the coolest dudes and in addition to putting on a great show, kicking it with them is an experience in itself.

    While the venue was great and accommodating in some parts, the sound quality was lacking. Imo it was too loud for the size of the room and not balanced well for such a close to the stage performance

    Great theatre, good show, lots of energy

    Loath was Awesome, this theatre is a great venue, free parking nearby, showed up 30 min prior to opening and walked in the door a few minutes after 6pm after brief wait in line. Clean restrooms, friendly staff at the bar and snack stand accessible to general admission. Don’t bother paying for upgrades like “fast pass or VIP lounge”, NOT needed. The other bands were good as well. Good acoustics in the theater.

    Not all it was hyped to be

    Bands were amazing, and put on great sets. Alcohol was way over priced and tasted bad. Spent $100 in the night for a total of 6 jack and cokes which I drink on the regular and these tasted like pure rubbing alcohol. They had tables open but wouldn’t sell or let guest sit at them the whole night. I understand if one is sold but if nobody is showing up resell or give a time limit. Not sure I’ll be back to the Fillmore.
