About

Underoath has been a seminal voice in progressive, heavy rock for almost two decades. When you look at the long list of bands that would be considered their contemporaries, very few can match Underoath when it comes to consistently pushing the envelope or the ability to evolve creatively without losing sight of what made them such a special band in the first place. This far into their storied career, the band has unsurprisingly faced their fair share of adversity. But through the trials and tribulations, a commitment to their craft and a sense of accountability rooted in mutual respect for each other has ensured that each new chapter for Underoath continues to shape their legacy in a positive fashion.

In 2020, as a global pandemic shook the foundation of the music industry, Underoath once again blazed a new path forward with their critically-acclaimed Observatory livestream. As interest in the digital consumption of live music seemed to be waning, the band breathed new life into the realm with a complete overhaul of the process – creating something equal parts intimate and monumental. It carried the weight of a sold out arena show translated through vessels consumable in fan’s living rooms. What made it all the more impactful was the fact that the entire initiative was dreamt up and brought to fruition largely by the band’s internal team. Thus, providing another shining reminder of the innovation that the six members on Underoath are capable of pulling together.

On the band’s 2018 Fearless Records debut, Erase Me, we saw a new side of Underoath. Having already established themselves both as melodic songwriters (2004’s RIAA-Certified Gold record They’re Only Chasing Safety) and as ambitious power merchants (2006’s gold-selling Define The Great Line and the majestic follow-up Lost In The Sound of Separation in 2008), the evolution detailed on Erase Me found Underoath using meticulously crafted sonic dialects that painted a vivid picture of how the band had grown artistically in the long layoff since their previous record.

With their shared history of remarkable accolades and trying hardships continuing to shape who the individual members are as people, Underoath is still just scratching the surface of what they can accomplish as a band. There are few acts in the annals of rock history that can say their best work is still ahead of them almost two decades into their career. Fortunately, Underoath falls into that category. As the world opens back up in 2021, the band is deeply committed to living up to the high expectations that fans (and themselves) have come to expect for anything associated with the project. It will undoubtedly be something special to witness as this next chapter in the Underoath story manifests.

    Amazing

    by MissyP on 8/8/23

Show and venue exceeded expectations! Only criticism would be no cash accepted anywhere. Maybe just one bar accepting cash would be better. Other than that it was amazing!!

    Louder is better

    by BillyWong on 8/8/23

I felt that the music was ok but it was so loud that it made it uncomfortable to listen to. But we came as Roman’s and the ghost inside was amazing!

    Great show, bad venue change

    by Cam on 8/6/23

Was a great show but solely bought the ticket because it had seats and i can’t stand for long periods of time. What could’ve been an amazing show at the Yungling Center ended up being an overcrowded GA show with too many meat heads. Please don’t change venues until you have no other choice.

A few words to sum up my review

    by SKELEBAT on 8/4/23

It’s not a phase 🖤🤘🏾 When you realize you’ve been a fan for 19 years, the title #elderemo really hits home. Last night I got to experience @hobmyrtlebeach for the first time, it’s a beautiful, art-filled, well run, and adequately air-conditioned venue, well worth the drive from Wilmington. A lifelong fan of @underoathband, I am grateful I got the see them a second time (the 1st being some years ago in Charlotte) - they really bring the energy and are true to their sound. Although I’ve retired from crowd surfing and circle pits, this genre will always be my go-to and I’ll always think “this is what makes you feel alive” . 🎵 Bravo. #underoath #spencerchamberlain #metalcore #emo #hobmyrtlebeach

    Great show, absurd prices

    by erikwct on 8/1/23

All the bands were great, and I had an amazing time. But man, whoever set the prices for this show needs a serious reality check. During the initial release, pit tickets were over $100 each after fees. If this was for a much bigger artist, I'd get it, but this was for a bunch of bands we all grew up seeing for $25 general admission, and they aren't any bigger than they were back then. Also, $18 for a Bud Light is insane. Pier Six and Livenation need to stop preying on and taking advantage of people.

Besides getting sucker punched, it was great

    by Zamir on 8/1/23

Underoath always but on a amazing live show, and all the other bands delivered too. Better Lovers, new band but with the long standing Dillinger Escape Plan frontman Greg Puciato, backed my members of Every Time I Die, you know your going to get something exciting. Was not very familiar with We Came as Romans, but they were solid, lots of energy and crowd was great during their set, briefly lost my phone due crowd surfer knocking it out my hand, but crowd around me helped me retrieve it quickly. Then co-headliner Underoath, I've seen them over years, and no matter how much they've changed (members, sound, etc) they still but on a great show and amazing to see that newer material gets awesome reception from crowd. It's always great to see a band evolved and for it's fanbase to enjoy it. And last but not least The Ghost Inside, I haven't seen this band 7 plus years, and not since the accident, The band even mentioned this was first NYC show in 7 plus years. Only downside to this was getting sucker punched for no describable reason, and probably being concuss, because 'm pretty sure I also hit me head on the floor going to down, since the floor was wet. But even with that it was still a great experience, made some new friends at the venue, and everything went smoothly getting in and out of the venue.

    Good not great!

    by PhillyMeg29 on 7/31/23

I wish the Ghost Inside setlist was better. Underoath was mediocre. I don’t care for We Came As Romans. It was a good show but didn’t blow me away. I wish there were better bands that played with The Ghost Inside but you can’t have it all! I would’ve loved to see Gideon headline along with TGI

    I came for Better Lovers

    by Travis on 7/31/23

I was specifically there to see Better Lovers, and they were absolutely incredible. Greg, Jordan, Will, Stephen, and Goose did an amazing job performing. I would give them a solid 11/10. Greg's vocals are amazing and his presence grabbed everyone in the room and didnt let them go till the end. Jordan and Will crushed every lick. Jordan also made prints for the tour that you could grab at the merch stand, and I highly recommend you try to grab one if your at the show. Goose's drums pounded out every beat with ferocity, and Stephen's bass had me grooving, experiencing the chaotic harmony being unleashed on everyone. Greg closed out the performance diving into the crowd. I loved every second of this band, and if you go see them, you will too.
