About

The Ultimate Fighting Championship on Tour

The most elite fighters in mixed martial arts do battle against each other in the Ultimate Fighting Championship. In just over 25 years, MMA has grown into one of the most popular of combat sports, and UFC has grown to become the name to know in mixed martial arts. Some of the greatest fighters in history have been associated with the Ultimate Fighting Championship. While the brand has continued to grow worldwide, on pay-per-view, and with the hit reality series The Ultimate Fighter, UFC action is best experienced at the dozens of live events produced each year.

The Ultimate Fighting Championship originally started with a tournament at Denver, Colorado's McNichols Sports Arena on November 12, 1993. It was an exhibition to determine which of a multitude of combat styles were the most effective, including kickboxing, kenpo, shootfighting, and Brazilian jiu-jitsu.

Out of this evolved what is now known as mixed martial arts, where fighters combine several styles in order to knock out their opponents or drive them into submission. UFC entered the world of women's mixed martial arts in 2012 with the signing of Ronda Rousey, and has quickly become the premier organization for women's MMA as well.

UFC sanctions titles in nine weight classes, with women competing in the strawweight, flyweight, bantamweight, and featherweight classes. Men compete in the flyweight classes and beyond as well as lightweight, welterweight, middleweight, light heavyweight, and heavyweight divisions.

Ultimate Fighting Championship bouts are fought using the Unified Rules of Mixed Martial Arts, passed by the New Jersey State Athletic Commission in 2001 and adopted by North America's other governing bodies over the next decade. UFC fights are judged by the "10-point must system," for three to five rounds lasting three minutes each. Fights must end either by submission, knockout, technical knockout, decision, disqualification, forfeit, or in a no contest.

The fights were amazing but I was upset about the premature stoppage with the Nover, Bradley fight; It was unfair for the fans and for Nover. I would like to see a rematch. Also, I felt the judges unfairly called the Hughs, Serra fight. I thought Serra won 2 out of three rounds; Serra definitely won the first round.

    100 was a blast

by adamtheadoeshe on 7/12/09Mandalay Bay Resort - Las Vegas

This was an outstanding show! I went there with high expectations and UFC delivered more than that. I sat in the front row of the third level. The seats were great. The facility at Mandalay Bay is extravagant. This was my first live UFC event. I will continue to see them.

    ufc 100 was insane!

by savking on 7/12/09Mandalay Bay Resort - Las Vegas

This event was way more than what I expected, the was so much electricity in the arena. the only thing that I would change is just to have a bigger arena next time for an event as important as this one.

    UFC 98 Dream!!!

by Taek on 7/12/09MGM Grand Hotel - Las Vegas

The event was worth every penny paid for !!!! Particularly the Light Heavy weight Championship card. It has been a dream to watch UFC live and personally have been waiting for Machida match up. The crowd was very entertaining itself rather than the usual silent spectators at a movie theatre. I would say pick the event with your favorite fighters and you will thoroghly enjoy the fightnight and the entire vacation as I did. Unlike the pay per view on TV, there was enough time between the matches to take a break.

    Coldplay was unforgettable!!!

by Jamonit on 7/12/09MGM Grand Hotel - Las Vegas

Good fight. But the people seated behind us were non-MMA fan tourists. And they were ripped drunk too. Possible high on cocaine cause they wouldn't shut up but that's Vegas for you.

by Footreads on 7/12/09Radio City Music Hall - New York

Had a great time. Hamel got a lot of questions about his deafness and dealing with it fighting MMA. He gave great answers and seems to be a great guy as well. He is a credit to his sport and Edgar was interesting also. It also was the best ufc i EVER SAW AND i SAW MOST OF THEM.

    UFC 100: Making History

by SnoopRonnyRon on 7/12/09Radio City Music Hall - New York

I watched UFC 100 at Radio City Music Hall's special viewing party. The pay per view was great, highlighted by dominant performances by Dan Henderson, GSP, and Brock Lesnar. Watching on the show on the 70 x 80 foot screen with a booming sound system, you felt like you were part of the action at the Mandalay Bay. The fans at Radio City were so into the action that the crowd was loudly cheering and booing the favorites and least favorite MMA performers. The negative part of the night had to be the Q&A sesssion that preceeded the show. Lots of weak questions were asked, and the MC of the event was annoying. Despite the small negative, it was an enjoyable night, and I would definately do it again.

by Juiceboxx on 7/12/09MGM Grand Hotel - Las Vegas

I'm a huge fan of the UFC and when i got into the arena i was blown away. The energy in the place was awsome. Some of the fighters in the UFC that were not fighting that night were in attendance meeting fans and taking pictures. I can't wait to go again.

by teamhughes on 7/12/09MGM Grand Hotel - Las Vegas

First of all, much to my surprise the will call, ticket collection was a very straight forward operation. The event was our first in the U.S. and was exciting at every turn. To be amongst fans and enjoying the night was just first class.

Wasnt the real show... was just a telecast. You need to put TELECAST in the description of the event so people know what it is.

    UFC 100 MARVELOUS!

by calinurse on 7/12/09Mandalay Bay Resort - Las Vegas

Can't beat the view on your TV BUT neither can you feel your seats reverberate watching your TV!! And, the undercards were fantastic with two guillotine chokes producing complete unconsicousness. Can't see that either on your TV. Ticketmaster sent me a VM alerting me to a time change in when the door opened and the beginnng of the first event. Super service! Thanks Ticketmaster. Folks behind us missed 1st. two fights because they did not know about the time change. Tickemaster...you rock!
