UIL Boys State Basketball Tickets

Once again after attending for 30 plus years it was GREAT!

UIL must do something as the fan experience was not good at all. The venue is not conducive for basketball. The scoreboard showed the game going the opposite way from the court. There is no replays for fans to enjoy exciting plays. The attendance was sparse.

Plano East Basketball made their first final four since our kids started school here. They completed an historic run of 40-0 to claim the 6A state championship title. The Alamo Dome is where UIL holds the championship games. My guess is they hold them there due to the facility being available and seating size. The seating is decent. More than enough to go around. Will never be sold out. Side line views are the best. Anywhere between the baskets. Once you get to the ends, the views get worse. So many seats in fact that they sell tickets to two championship games as one seat for both. And don't run out. Once the first championship game ended, their fans left and opened up some great sideline seats for our fans to fill in. We purchase some not so great seats, but moved to great seats around the top of the three point line. It was a great experience and the arena is pretty good.

This was a great event from start to finish. It was a first time experience for us, and I loved everything about it.

I needs to be out of the Alamodome in San Antonio. It is not a good venue to watch High School Basketball

Great tournament, wish the parking prices were a bit lower but very enjoyable and well run. Glad that the tournament is still in san antonio and hoping that it does not ever move to austin.

Sad about the way they allowed to foul us all of the time.

Overall, everything was really good with the tournament. The only gripe I have is the seating when purchasing tickets. I don't think they should be assigned. I think they should sell as general admission.

Although I enjoy the alamodome and had a good time. Basketball should not be played there for any level. Just the depth perception for the players creates issues. And as a fan the venue is less than ideal. I believe it should be held in a bball arena. Or moved back centrally to austin. But still it is a nice place.

Some of the games I actually wondered how they got to the finals???. Players were sub-par. Out of seeing 6 games Friday & Sat, only 1 game was worth seeing. Ticket buying was horrible. Having to wait to purchase was a nuisance. I did not have a problem buying tickets the last 3 -4 yrs of coming. I understand the schools should get 1st preference, but think about others who would like a decent seat as well, without having to buy the entire pkg deal for ALL days. Sitting on the upper corners were not a good choice for us. We chose to come even thought we don't know not 1 player! It's a nice getaway and glad to support the kids. Next year we will contemplate if we choose to do it again, if ticket sales are the same way.

Sold us tickets in a section that was not available then relocated us to seats that were among the competing schools!!

This was my third or fourth time to the championships. With all the fantastic venues for basketball scattered throughout the state, there is simply no reason to hold the championships in this giant barn. The parking is horrific. Most people, except for the anointed few, have to walk from 1/2 mile to 3/4 mile just to get to one of the doors and hope it’s one they decided to unlock. Once inside be prepared to walk a lot more to get to your seat. Concession prices are very high and choices limited. After the games are over, you are rushed out of the facility like there’s a fire or some other emergency. Security after the games is some of the rudest I have ever encountered. Getting back to you vehicle is another challenge. The Alamodome is located in a very sketchy part of downtown. You will likely come across several undesirables on your way. Surely the UIL can do better than this!

I didn’t like the “partial” event center. I think high school boys that made it all the way to state deserve a “full gym”. Austin was MUCH more suited to this event in my opinion

Facility is fine. Better signage is need to understand how seating is divided.

I’ve collected these over the last 20 years. Bring back the damn programs and increase the price if you have to.

The state tournament would be better held in a basketball arena. The Alamodome is a terrible place to play the state tournament. Literally anywhere else with a basketball arena would work. If the UIL could work, something out with the Spurs, or just move it back to Austin. The environment hasn’t been the same the last 10 years. Other options would be Waco, Abilene, Dallas, or Houston just as long as it was in a basketball arena instead of a football stadium.

Grate all around games, really wish it could be moved backed to Austin, Tx

I never was impressed by the Alamo Dome. I truly believe it’s time to bring the State Tournament back to Austin where it belongs. They can’t say anymore about not having enough hotels because they are building hotels left and right. The tournament in San Antonio is not the same and I’m not saying they haven’t did a good job but the atmosphere is not the same. I have talked with coaches, fans and they would like to see the tournament back in Austin.

This was such a fun experience! The only thing I wish different was to have a dedicated student section. We had many students travel 4.5 hrs to come see LHHS play and there wasn’t a dedicated place for them to stand and cheer without other spectators being upset or bothered from the standing or noise.

Enjoyed the tournament and experience. I think its time to move the tournament to a different venue. The seat were not sturdy, expensive parking and had to walk to far to seating.
