University of Central Florida Knights Football History

Varsity football didn't come to UCF until 1979, when the Knights joined the NCAA's Division III. By 1996, UCF ascended to the NCAA's top division, becoming the first program to play at all levels of college football. In short order, the Black and Gold became an unlikely national contender. In 2004, under new coach George O'Leary, UCF went 0-11. Over his next 10 seasons in Orlando, the team went to seven bowl games, including a 52-42 Fiesta Bowl victory over Baylor, which capped a 2013 season in which the Knights went 12-1 and undefeated in conference play.

In 2017, under coach Scott Frost, the Knights swept the regular season, won their conference championship game over Memphis in double overtime, and beat No. 7 Auburn in the Peach Bowl, 34-27 — the first undefeated season in school history. The following year, the Knights went 12-1, their only loss coming against LSU in the Fiesta Bowl. That game ended UCF's 25-game winning streak. The Knights have made a bowl game in nearly every season under head coach Gus Malzahn up until his final season in 2024.

University of Central Florida Knights at Acrisure Bounce House

Located just northeast of downtown Orlando, Acrisure Bounce House has been the Knights' home since 2007. It quickly earned the nickname "The Bounce House" thanks to vibrations produced whenever fans jumped in unison, and the title was officially added to the stadium’s official name in 2025. Come out a couple hours before kickoff and greet the players during their Knight Walk from IOA Plaza. Ninety minutes before kickoff, you can join the marching band and the spirit team near Knights Plaza for the fan march to the stadium. And when "Kernkraft 400” by Zombie Nation comes on the speakers at the game, be sure to bounce.

We had an amazing time cheering the UCF Knights to a victory. Nothing beats the entire stands rocking to the zombie dance. Go Knights.

Nights were unstoppable against the over-matched Buccaneers of Charleston Southern. A Bigger test is this week against the Boston College Eagles.

Great stadium...excellent parking....great night. Very well organized event.

  • Great game, ticket line service was terrible.

I spent 50 minutes in a will call line that sold tickets at the same time. I will NEVER use this method to pick up my tickets again. I missed the first quarter of the game waiting in line. Some kind of warning of the wait time is warranted on the website.

Seats and the game were great! Totally enjoyable experience! Parking was great, except for the cops that rerouted us twice because we did not have the gold tag, even though we had the gold parking pass printed. We could have tail gated had we not have to drive around the campus twice.

  • AVOID Will Call

by Pganascar on 9/5/11Bright House Networks Stadium - OrlandoRating: 3 out of 5

The game was great (we have been to UCF games in the past), so that was not the problem. HOWEVER, we bought our tickets through Ticketmaster on Friday night for the game on Sat night. We decided on the Will Call option figuring that it would not be a problem and that we would be getting there around game time (thus most people should already be in the stadium). That was the mistake. We stood in the Will Call line for 35 minutes and missed the entire first quarter. There was no organization to the lines and the girls working the windows seemed to care more about socializing than working. I will NEVER use Will Call at the stadium again.

  • Going to the Liberty Bowl

by Wilz on 12/10/10Bright House Networks Stadium - OrlandoRating: 5 out of 5

UCF is my adopted school since we moved down here from Pittsburgh, 27 years ago. We have been season ticket holders for 3 years now, although we ahve averaged about 3 games per year in the other 24 years. We always buy our tickets through TicketMaster, which always provides us the best seats for any event. This was great game between two schools who really wanted the Conference-USA Title. Hard fought and our team the UCF Knights prevailed, so we on our way to the Liberty Bowl to play Georgia Bulldogs in another tough game. Go Knights! I, by the way, did my undergraduate work at Marquette University and my graduate work at the University of Pittsbugh.

  • lots of fun

by KnightinTampa on 12/6/10Bright House Networks Stadium - OrlandoRating: 4 out of 5

I brought my wife and daughter and we had a lot of fun. They didn't seem to play as many chants as usual but maybe it was because it was a conference title game and not a regular game. Our team is extrememly exciting to watch. No problems finding a spot to park.

  • UCF: A Rising Star

by Anonymous on 12/6/10Bright House Networks Stadium - OrlandoRating: 5 out of 5

The new Bright House stadium is nice and the game was terrific. We sat in the UCF student section, which was fun because the students are the ones most into the game. The football team is getting better and better and it's awesome to see, knowing that they're going to make a real name for UCF.
