University of Central Florida Knights Football History

Varsity football didn't come to UCF until 1979, when the Knights joined the NCAA's Division III. By 1996, UCF ascended to the NCAA's top division, becoming the first program to play at all levels of college football. In short order, the Black and Gold became an unlikely national contender. In 2004, under new coach George O'Leary, UCF went 0-11. Over his next 10 seasons in Orlando, the team went to seven bowl games, including a 52-42 Fiesta Bowl victory over Baylor, which capped a 2013 season in which the Knights went 12-1 and undefeated in conference play.

In 2017, under coach Scott Frost, the Knights swept the regular season, won their conference championship game over Memphis in double overtime, and beat No. 7 Auburn in the Peach Bowl, 34-27 — the first undefeated season in school history. The following year, the Knights went 12-1, their only loss coming against LSU in the Fiesta Bowl. That game ended UCF's 25-game winning streak. The Knights have made a bowl game in nearly every season under head coach Gus Malzahn up until his final season in 2024.

University of Central Florida Knights at Acrisure Bounce House

Located just northeast of downtown Orlando, Acrisure Bounce House has been the Knights' home since 2007. It quickly earned the nickname "The Bounce House" thanks to vibrations produced whenever fans jumped in unison, and the title was officially added to the stadium’s official name in 2025. Come out a couple hours before kickoff and greet the players during their Knight Walk from IOA Plaza. Ninety minutes before kickoff, you can join the marching band and the spirit team near Knights Plaza for the fan march to the stadium. And when "Kernkraft 400” by Zombie Nation comes on the speakers at the game, be sure to bounce.

    We had the most annoying ghetto talking rude punks sitting behind us, who thought it was cute to scream annoying comments at the top of their lungs the whole time.We had to walk over 1 hour from the parking garage with no directions to the stadium the entire way. Midway on our jornrney my 81 year old father and boys were interrupted by sveral very drunk students. When we got to the stadium we had to throw away our 3 umbrellas, football, gatorade, water bottles and a subway sandwich. It was a relief to get away from the annoying idiots behind us, leaving early in the 4th quarter. It probably took us over 90 minutes to get back to our garage as stated above their were no signs for our particular garage. Then getting out of the campus took forever.

    Event was good. Seats were horrible.they wernt event I the student section which is wher we wanted to be. The seats were actually they opposite side right under the score board. Like I said regardeless of the seats, any UCF home game is a good game

    This game was my first college football game that I've attended and it was a lot of fun. However, the ticket price of $50 was a bit harsh. I wish that there was some sort of discount for students from other surrounding colleges or maybe an option for Military Discounts.

    UCF vs Boston College was a great experience for me. My son attends UCF and it was family weekend. I was able to visit with my son and watch my first college game. I have already bought tickets to another game.

    Great game for a rising college football program in the football-rich state of Florida that nobody is really talking about. Seeing/hearing the student section get involved in the game was amazing.

    It was powerful and wonderful to be in the stands for this event as the Knights proved themselves on a national stage, having a top-quality tough game against the Boston College Eagles! And the day before 9/11? The university rolled out appropriate honor moments for the 9/11/01 victims.

    The game was amazing. It would be nice to get details on stadium rules before attending the event. I didn't find out until arriving that my backpack was not permitted. I had to wait 30 minutes at the gate for my husband to run the bag to my car. The attendant suggested I toss my bag in the bushes. Yeah right! Then we also found out that none of the vendors take credit cards. We had to spend another 30 minutes in line to use an ATM. Only to spend another 30 mins in line to buy food. 1.5 hours passed before we actually got to sit down and enjoy the game. It was definitely a lesson learned but it would have been great to be alerted ahead of time.

    Loved every moment, especially since it was our first time EVER being at a tailgate event and game. It is our first year as parent of a freshmen attending UCF. WHAT a WAY TO embrace the school spirit!!! We loved everything from seeing the kids yellling out for their team to the team beating Boston. My son left that game wanting more and planning to come back with his friends!!!!

    Great game! Brighthouse is amazing! Loved watching my Knights win so big! It was also amazing to see all the UCF fans wearing red bandanas for BC alum Welles C. Proud to be a Knight!!

    The stadium is beautiful, the crowd was lively and the team was fantastic. It's an excellent college football experience from top to bottom.

    The game was great but what I enjoyed most was the Marching Knights Band. They sounded and looked great! you should definitely rent the seat backs for $6 per game.
