About

University of Central Florida Knights at Spectrum Stadium

Located just northeast of downtown Orlando, Spectrum Stadium has been the Knights' home since 2007, when it took over from what was then called the Citrus Bowl. It quickly earned the nicknames "The Bounce House" and "The Trampoline," thanks to vibrations produced in the stadium whenever fans jumped in unison. While officials said the structure was sound, UCF moved quickly to take the bounce out of the stadium, spending $400,000 to add steel to the beams and girders.

UCF isn't old enough to have any hoary old traditions, but that doesn't mean there's no pageantry to the proceedings. Come out a couple hours before kickoff and greet the players during their Knight Walk from IOA Plaza. Ninety minutes before kickoff, you can join the marching band and the spirit team near Knights Plaza for the fan march to the stadium. And when "Zombie Nation" comes on the speakers at the game, be sure to bounce.

University of Central Florida Knights History

Varsity football didn't come to UCF until 1979, when the Knights joined the NCAA's Division III. In 1996, UCF ascended to the NCAA's top division, becoming the first to play at all levels of college football. In short order, the Black and Gold became an unlikely national contender. In 2004, under new coach George O'Leary, UCF went 0-11. Over his next 10 seasons in Orlando, the team went to seven bowl games. These included a 52-42 Fiesta Bowl victory over Baylor, capping a 2013 season in which the Knights went 12-1 and undefeated in conference play.

In 2017, under coach Scott Frost, the Knights swept the regular season, won their conference championship game over Memphis in double overtime, and beat No. 7 Auburn in the Peach Bowl, 34-27 — the first undefeated season in school history. Locked out of the College Football Playoff, athletic director Danny White simply proclaimed UCF the national champion. The program went so far as to hang a national championship banner and hold a victory parade. This caused a good bit of controversy within college football, which had hoped its playoff system would resolve such disputes. The following year, the Knights proved they weren't flukes, going 12-1, their only loss coming against LSU in the Fiesta Bowl. That game ended UCF's 25-game winning streak.

It was an awesome experience! It was great football weather! The crowd was rowdy as to be expected! But Security/Police did their job very well! I would definitely go to another game when the Hurricanes come back to defend their win! Go Canes!!

Bright House Networks Stadium is a great venue!

by MRGalati on 10/18/09Bright House Networks Stadium - Orlando

I just moved to Orlando and am a huge football fan. While my team is up north, I want to support the local team, so I bought tickets online for the UCF-Miami game. Although UCF fell short of the upset bid, I had a great time. Awesome college football atmosphere. Am definitely hoping that UCF gets an invite to a better conference while I still live here - they've got all the pieces to be a big time football program, they just need the BCS conference and the boost in recruiting that comes with it. I'll be back for the UCF-Marshall game.

UCF WAS NOT IN THE SAME LEAGUE AS MIAMI, BUT AS A UCF GRAD (1972 WHEN IT WAS FTU) I WOULD RECOMMEND A TRIP TO ONE OF UCF'S GAMES. TAILGATING IS AT LEAST HALF THE FUN!

    UCF Game

by Pegasuspony12 on 10/5/09Bright House Networks Stadium - Orlando

Our son is a freshman in the band, our first time there for a game. In past have been to UM games and are filled with drunken obnoxious people, note, no beer sold at UCF stadium. UCF great tailgating, civilized students, beautiful school and arena. Worst part was the hot sun - next time a night game! Leave early to get a good parking spot and be prepared to do some walking. And yes, the band is great!!

The only thing thing hot was the sun

by LightsoutKnights on 10/5/09Bright House Networks Stadium - Orlando

little or no atmospere of a college football game. Although the stadium was actually rocking (scary), not much fanfare.

We had a great time at the UCF vs Memphis game! Even though the stadium was sparse with fans, it was still rocking and bouncing (literally!).. Sat down by the student section and band (LOTS OF ENERGY) and we were surrounded by tons of Black and Gold spirit!

    UCF vs. Memphis

by mom52 on 10/4/09Bright House Networks Stadium - Orlando

Great game and great seats. I just wish the game would have been scheduled for 7:30 due to the fact that it is still in the 90's in October. I think for parents weekend and the heat that most parents would have enjoyed the game even more in the evening. Overall it was a great day with my family

Great game. Security was great , especially for allowing parents to get pictures of the band from along the railing. The long walk from the stadium to parking was difficult.

    UB Vs UCF

by silky23 on 9/24/09Bright House Networks Stadium - Orlando

THe game was awesome, parking was distant, but made it easy to get out at the end. The stadium seating was the only downfall. Steel bleacher seats for three hours = no fun. However, cant complain too much, it was college football.

    UCF First Game Experience

by Dogplumber on 9/20/09Bright House Networks Stadium - Orlando

I took my Freshman daughter to her first college football game, the UCF vs. Buffalo game, on 9/19/09. Call me nostalgic, but it was everything I hoped for: a beautiful stadium, an exciting game, and a large crowd that was really into it. I was amazed at the student body, all dressed in white, jumping up and down at every kickoff and stomping their feet on every opponent's third down. The event staff was downright cheerful, and the atmosphere was terrific. We had a wonderful time.

    First visit to Brighthouse Stadium

by Leadleg on 9/20/09Bright House Networks Stadium - Orlando

First visit to the Brighthouse Stadium at UCF. Outstanding facility, great crowds, great selection of "goodies", great scoreboard. But the game could have been better - Buffalo lost. Outstanding halftime and time out on the field presentations. Overall, a terrific evening. We will be back.

    Go Knights

by wardmagic on 9/20/09Bright House Networks Stadium - Orlando

Our team this year is alittle shakey. Our Defense is slow to the corners and we are not able to run the ball up the middle very effectively. Our new Quarterback is outstanding and was the one that really won the game for the Knights.
