University of Central Florida Knights Football History

Varsity football didn't come to UCF until 1979, when the Knights joined the NCAA's Division III. By 1996, UCF ascended to the NCAA's top division, becoming the first program to play at all levels of college football. In short order, the Black and Gold became an unlikely national contender. In 2004, under new coach George O'Leary, UCF went 0-11. Over his next 10 seasons in Orlando, the team went to seven bowl games, including a 52-42 Fiesta Bowl victory over Baylor, which capped a 2013 season in which the Knights went 12-1 and undefeated in conference play.

In 2017, under coach Scott Frost, the Knights swept the regular season, won their conference championship game over Memphis in double overtime, and beat No. 7 Auburn in the Peach Bowl, 34-27 — the first undefeated season in school history. The following year, the Knights went 12-1, their only loss coming against LSU in the Fiesta Bowl. That game ended UCF's 25-game winning streak. The Knights have made a bowl game in nearly every season under head coach Gus Malzahn up until his final season in 2024.

University of Central Florida Knights at Acrisure Bounce House

Located just northeast of downtown Orlando, Acrisure Bounce House has been the Knights' home since 2007. It quickly earned the nickname "The Bounce House" thanks to vibrations produced whenever fans jumped in unison, and the title was officially added to the stadium’s official name in 2025. Come out a couple hours before kickoff and greet the players during their Knight Walk from IOA Plaza. Ninety minutes before kickoff, you can join the marching band and the spirit team near Knights Plaza for the fan march to the stadium. And when "Kernkraft 400” by Zombie Nation comes on the speakers at the game, be sure to bounce.

  • ECF gameday

by woodstead on 11/15/10Bright House Networks Stadium - OrlandoRating: 4 out of 5

My first visit, modern clean campus, easy acess to parking. The staduim was very clean, had great access to restrooms and vendors. The seats had backs , we sat in row J on the 35 yard line and the view of the game was great. I took my eight year old and he loved all the music and crowd! I would definitely go back and hope more people in Orlando who went to school out of state will adopt the Golden Knights, I beleive this is a up and coming program.

  • Nice early Game

I like the ucf vs usm game I'm a usm fan and got the fan pack which had free food. My only problem is there is no smoking at these games which they should make an area for those fans. I don't smoke but my friend did so I had to help him find a place to smoke and if He got kicked out I was his ride this is not cool. Other than that everything was good I will come back without a smoker lol. Oh Yeah ! The will call is to long I will pay to get my tickets fast next time.

The game was great and we had really good seats. I would definitely go to see them again. The Stadium was clean and I felt safe. The weather was perfect and although UCF didn't win, it was still a very good game.

Great stadium! Great seats! But UCF did not win. :(

  • Best Kept Secret!

by jupiternurse on 11/7/10BRIGHTHOUSE NETWORK STADIUM - ORLANDORating: 5 out of 5

The Knights are looking like the 2005 Champs! Attending a game at Brighthouse Stadium is always a great experience! Listening to commentators during televised games from BrightHouse is always entertaining, because they are incredulous that there is this 'hidden jewel' of a stadium and this kick-butt, underrated, often disrespected team that plays there......you may have heard? THE KNIGHTS!

  • by amk10 on 11/2/10Bright House Networks Stadium - OrlandoRating: 5 out of 5

Game was awesome...I thought the seats were going to be further up because the row letter but even so I felt super close to the game!

  • The Knights look like the best team in Florida!!!

by UCFarris on 11/1/10Bright House Networks Stadium - OrlandoRating: 4 out of 5

The Knights are playing great football at mid-season. The defense is the dominant staple that we have come to expect from O'Leary teams and the offense is clicking, like never before. Godfrey adds another dimension to the team but its not just him. The O-line is working well together and while it was disappointing that they don't have Harvey in line up, Weaver is doing a great job. He is running downhill and looks stronger each week. If you haven't seen this team play, you are missing out on a special UCF squad. Looking forward to going back to BHNS for the C-USA Championship!!!

No lines at the restrooms, clean stadium and winning team! Goooo Knights!

  • Fun Game

by UCFMom on 11/1/10Bright House Networks Stadium - OrlandoRating: 4 out of 5

I should have paid more attention to seat orientation. Sun was in our eyes for a big part of game. Fun crowd for the most part (booing EC fans wasn't nice-but only a few immature did that). Crowds of all ages. Nice stadium, smart move for UCF.

  • UCF Game was good!

by mikeo1234 on 11/1/10Bright House Networks Stadium - OrlandoRating: 5 out of 5

The UCF vs Pirates game was really good. The games would be better if more people were there, but it was still good. Now we are ranked 34!!!!!

  • Good Event

by Mutterhead on 11/1/10Bright House Networks Stadium - OrlandoRating: 5 out of 5

Sitting behind the end-zone definitely challenges one depth perception but at least we have the score board!

  • UCF v ECU 10,20.2010

by Anonymous on 11/1/10Bright House Networks Stadium - OrlandoRating: 3 out of 5

The two teams showed up, the band showed up, where were the students and community? There are 50,000 +/- students, 10,000 +/- faculty and staff, yet the stadium was only half full... The school's support is disappointing.

  • good knight carolina
