About

UB40 Featuring Ali Campbell is an off-shoot of UB40, the reggae-pop band from Birmingham, England. Best known for their No. 1 hits “Red Red Wine” and “Can’t Help Falling in Love,” the original incarnation of UB40 formed in 1978 led by frontman Ali Campbell, but was splintered when Campbell and Mickey Virtue left in 2008 over a management dispute. Fellow band member Astro then exited in 2013 and soon after, the trio began recording new music starting with their 2014 single “Reggae Music.” Multiple albums followed, but Virtue eventually left the new iteration of the group in late 2018. Astro sadly passed away in November 2021 after he and Campbell had completed recording of their fourth album, Unprecedented.

    Room for improvement

by Kaui on 1/23/24Neal S Blaisdell Arena - Honolulu

House speakers weren’t being used, which was a real bummer, because it didn’t seem loud enough. The band played many songs that weren’t their popular songs and the audience showed its disappointment respectfully, by not dancing or cheering. Also, the performance ended 15 min earlier than it was supposed to (which was 9:45pm). It seems they did this because in Hawai’i the audience will yell, asking for a “Hana hou” (similar to encore!), so they did this at 9:45 and ended at 10:00pm. However, it is culturally understood that a hana hou is a give on behalf of the entertainer. This was a faked give by the band, and it was lame. Our family will not attend a UB40 concert again. LAME.

    Awesome

by A fan on 1/23/24Neal S Blaisdell Arena - Honolulu

The concert was so good. Ekolu was solid as an opening act and really got the culture going. UB40 sounded so clean , which isn’t always the case live concerts. They also really got the crowd involved. I would see them again in a heartbeat.. My two sons also have a new found love for both groups.
