    Good discussion

by Tanya on 2/26/22UB Center for the Arts - Mainstage Theatre - Buffalo

The event was great. The conversation & discussion was thought provoking. The seating was a little tight but the view and acoustics were perfect.

Sound was poor in the auditorium,

by Janet on 2/19/22UB Center for the Arts - Mainstage Theatre - Buffalo

The sound was poor in the auditorium.. Many of the points of the speaker was missed especially when she moved or turned her head in a certain manner. Patrons should not need to strain to hear what the speaker is saying. Please train the sound technicians to turn the sound up when it is low. I asked the persons next to me if they thought the sound was low and they agreed that someone should have turned the sound up.

    Perhaps the Best…

by WFB on 2/19/22UB Center for the Arts - Mainstage Theatre - Buffalo

Nicole Hanna Cole was perhaps on of the best speakers I have ever seen at the UB Speakers Series. She provided a well researched and point presentation on race in this country and how we need to approach it.

    Insightful and energizing!

by Thembi on 2/19/22UB Center for the Arts - Mainstage Theatre - Buffalo

I'd been eagerly anticipating this event for weeks, and I was happy to brave a cold rain to get there. Ms. Hannah-Jones was direct, thought-provoking, and inspiring in her remarks, and the hour went by much too fast. I would have loved two more hours of her answers to our questions. Of course I didn't expect her to be signing books, but I had to ask, jussssst in case there'd be a chance to thank her directly for being such a FORCE in history, scholarship, civil discourse, and Black Girl Magic!

    Great speaker too little time

by Kathleen on 2/19/22UB Center for the Arts - Mainstage Theatre - Buffalo

Nikole Hannah Jones was so inspirational. But I felt cheated that her part of the program was only about a half hour. I really wanted to hear more from her.

    NHJ

by Buffalonian on 2/19/22UB Center for the Arts - Mainstage Theatre - Buffalo

It was wonderful to be at UB Center for the Arts. Appreciated the large screen as we were sitting in the balcony. Enjoyed the preacher that spoke so eloquently about MLK. Nikole Hannah Jones was an excellent choice for a distinguished speaker. Would have liked her portion of the program to be longer. Would have liked a better moderator, ideally a black woman

I loved the intimate onstage conversation. The moderator, Dr. Williams was professional and knowledgeable.

    Can you say disorganized!!

by Tr on 11/20/21UB Center for the Arts - Mainstage Theatre - Buffalo

Incredible line to check vaccine and ID. ONLY 2 or 3 people checking. My group made it in a few minutes after 7 but many people still were coming in at 7.30. Started late but still over by 8??? Liked the speaker but UB needs to learn how to do this.

    Short but meaningful talk.

by BBB on 11/19/21UB Center for the Arts - Mainstage Theatre - Buffalo

Miss Raisman only spoke for an hour, but what she had to say was so important and meaningful for my 16 year old daughter. A pleasure to listen to someone who has such insight at such a young age, and gets her points across in a well-spoken and eloquent way, directing her thoughts to vulnerable young women who need to hear them. She is an amazingly positive role model, and I’m glad we were able to hear her. The venue, on the other hand, was disappointing. They were obviously ill-prepared to check both covid cards and photo IDs, and many people were not able to take their seats before the event began, due to the long line for vaccination verification.

Speaker was Great, Venue Not So Much

by Cec on 11/19/21UB Center for the Arts - Mainstage Theatre - Buffalo

Given the Covid protocols the line to get in was huge and initially there were only two people checking IDs and vaccination status. As 7:00 approached more people were brought in to help but it was chaotic and the event started before everyone was in the hall. I think it would have been more effective if the Covid checkers moved through the line and then the ticket scanners could stay at the entrance. Splitting in to more lines near the entrance would have moved the line faster.

    Ally Raisman

by Sue on 11/19/21UB Center for the Arts - Mainstage Theatre - Buffalo

Not very long, she didn’t answer the questions. Said basically the same thing over and over. Very disappointing

Poor communication on the part of UB.

by Stacy on 11/7/21UB Center for the Arts - Mainstage Theatre - Buffalo

The speaker was canceled twice, the first time an email was sent with reschedule information and the second time a flyer was posted on the location of the event saying it was canceled. I drive all the way there to find out it was canceled again. Poor communication!
