About The U.S. Women's National Soccer Team

The United States is home to one of the greatest teams in international soccer, an inspiration for girls, women, and fans everywhere. Millions of soccer fans in the United States and across the world were created when Brandi Chastain led the U.S. Women's National Soccer Team (USWNT) to victory with her penalty kick against China in the 1999 FIFA Women's World Cup final.

In the two decades since, the USWNT has continued its dominance in women's soccer and influenced a robust college and pro circuit in the United States. The USWNT also has made household names out of Michelle Akers, Mia Hamm, Julie Foudy, Abby Wambach, and Megan Rapinoe, among others, and inspired new generations of women's amateur, college, and professional soccer stars as well as women athletes in all sports.

The United States Women's National Soccer Team has won three FIFA Women's World Cup championships (including the first tournament in 1991) and four Olympic gold medals — in 1996, 2004, 2008, and 2012. The U.S. also has hosted the 1999 and 2003 FIFA Women's World Cup, the 1996 tournament at the Summer Olympics in Atlanta, and it will host the Olympic soccer tournament again when the games come to Los Angeles in 2028.

The USWNT has grown exponentially with the game over the last 35 years. The first game for the United States Women's National Team took place in 1985, and ever since they have been consistently among the top teams worldwide in women's soccer.

That success has continued under the English-born Jill Ellis, who took over as head coach in 2014 and led the team to the 2015 Women's World Cup title. After winning their eighth CONCACAF Women's Championship in 2018, the U.S. Women's National Soccer Team will look to take home their fourth FIFA Women's World Cup when France hosts the tournament in 2019.

    Amazing women! Worst lines ever.

    by T. on 10/9/19Soldier Field - Chicago

Stood in line for over an hour to get into Soldier Field. Screening process was terrible and not enough people scanning tickets. The food and drink lines were long and moved very very slow. The 90 mins spent watching the game was unforgettable!

    Could have been better

by Hotmessmom on 10/9/19Soldier Field - Chicago

My Ticketmaster app wouldn’t work, got locked out of the account and was kept on hold for over 30 minutes (and that was when I actually got through after 20 minutes of busy signals). Luckily, we were able to go to the box office and have them print our tickets. Then, not all of the concessions were open and menu items were limited. I had to walk halfway around the stadium for a cocktail. Super annoying.

    USWNT @ Soldier Field

    by C.Kal on 10/9/19Soldier Field - Chicago

Only negative was the venue congestion. Crowd congestion during intermission was not well managed. I have not previously attended an event at Soldier Field, but I find it hard to believe that it is always that terrible. Concession lines were backed up to the area where everyone files out of the stands. USWNT was great! Beautiful day and beautiful field.

    Amazing

by Emily on 10/9/19Soldier Field - Chicago

First time I have ever been to a US Women’s soccer game and I loved it. We had amazing seats right on the center line for a good price. Would totally go again if given the chance.

Great event need to get more details

    by S. on 10/9/19Soldier Field - Chicago

It was a great event and we had a great time. However, I wish we would have known more about the fan interactive experiences. We had no idea where they were located and nothing was at the North Gate where we entered as our seats were in the North end zone. We missed out on a lot of cool things my kids could have done and photo opportunities.

The Atmosphere and fellow fans made this a day we will never forget. Beautiful weather just added to the excellence of this day. Watching these women in action was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!

    Outstanding USWNT Game

by The Coach on 10/9/19Soldier Field - Chicago

Final game of the victory tour, best team in the world...entertaining soccer. They seemed tired and rightly so, but it was an excellent game, very fun, venue was great!

    Long lines

by EmcK on 10/9/19Soldier Field - Chicago

The event was understaffed. We waited in long lines to get in. Then we missed out on watching huge chunks of playing time because we had to wait in long lines to get refreshments.

    by B. on 10/9/19Soldier Field - Chicago

Seeing the uswnt is one of the best experiences you could ever have. The community that supports them and the players themselves are outstanding. Definitely would recommend and if you can't make a uswnt go to a nwsl game. We won't stop watching

She was not in the offsides position. I was disappointed in the officiating of this match.

    Once in a lifetime experience

by Erin on 10/9/19Soldier Field - Chicago

Amazing team, amazing experience, amazing seats... nothing short of amazing. Would have preferred a win but a draw is better than a loss. I flew in from CO to watch the game. My recommendation is that if you have an opportunity to watch this team now, do it, you won’t be sorry!

    Great Game. Logistical issues.

    by j. on 10/9/19Soldier Field - Chicago

We had a great time at the game but had issues with a couple logistics. The first was that my wife had a purse and the stadium had a policy to not allow in bags. We had to walk 15 minutes to a long locker line and wait 20 minutes for a Locker only to hurry back to the game. Missed the first 15 minutes. Then not enough food and drink vendors opened. Waited in line for 40 minutes while their were closed food stands next door. Loved our seats and had a great time but way too much time wasted waiting.

    Total Magic

    by M. R. on 10/9/19Soldier Field - Chicago

This is the most fun I have ever had at a sporting event in my entire life. If you're wondering if you should go to a game, trust me, you should. These women are supremely talented and put on a fantastic display of entertainment and athleticism. I can't wait to go to my next game in Columbus in November! Thanks for everything, USWNT!

Parking took 30 minutes from th time I arrived to park.

    by B. B. on 10/9/19Soldier Field - Chicago

Even though the event was half full south parking was closed while still having spots available! We were sent very slowly through soldier field and all the way out to the planetarium then northernly island. 15 minute walk from there and $50! Just insane. We missed opening at 1:00 and sat down after kickoff at 1:20 despite being at parking lot at 12:30. Wrong.

    Great experience

by W. on 10/8/19Bank of America Stadium - Charlotte

The women's National Team is excellent. The pregame show was super. It was a most excellent experience to have been a part. Only thing that could have made it better would have been a chance to get autographs from the players.

This was a historic summer for USA Women's Soccer, so seeing them in my hometown was epic!
