About The U.S. Women's National Soccer Team

The United States is home to one of the greatest teams in international soccer, an inspiration for girls, women, and fans everywhere. Millions of soccer fans in the United States and across the world were created when Brandi Chastain led the U.S. Women's National Soccer Team (USWNT) to victory with her penalty kick against China in the 1999 FIFA Women's World Cup final.

In the two decades since, the USWNT has continued its dominance in women's soccer and influenced a robust college and pro circuit in the United States. The USWNT also has made household names out of Michelle Akers, Mia Hamm, Julie Foudy, Abby Wambach, and Megan Rapinoe, among others, and inspired new generations of women's amateur, college, and professional soccer stars as well as women athletes in all sports.

The United States Women's National Soccer Team has won three FIFA Women's World Cup championships (including the first tournament in 1991) and four Olympic gold medals — in 1996, 2004, 2008, and 2012. The U.S. also has hosted the 1999 and 2003 FIFA Women's World Cup, the 1996 tournament at the Summer Olympics in Atlanta, and it will host the Olympic soccer tournament again when the games come to Los Angeles in 2028.

The USWNT has grown exponentially with the game over the last 35 years. The first game for the United States Women's National Team took place in 1985, and ever since they have been consistently among the top teams worldwide in women's soccer.

That success has continued under the English-born Jill Ellis, who took over as head coach in 2014 and led the team to the 2015 Women's World Cup title. After winning their eighth CONCACAF Women's Championship in 2018, the U.S. Women's National Soccer Team will look to take home their fourth FIFA Women's World Cup when France hosts the tournament in 2019.

Setup for getting to stadium stinks

by Stevie D on 11/10/19MAPFRE Stadium - Columbus

We missed the first 22 minutes thanks to only two lanes coming into parking lot at the stadium. Watching the game was awesome. Not sure what happened to our offense in the second half

    Parking Nightmare

by Jessica on 11/10/19MAPFRE Stadium - Columbus

Not sure why it took so long to find a parking place. We go to matches and events at Mapfre all the time and this was the absolute worst! Had a great time at the match, left a little early to avoid long lines getting out.

Good game, blah arena, overloud drumming all game long

    by P. F. on 11/10/19MAPFRE Stadium - Columbus

Arena access poor — stayed a mile away and walked. 2 guys drummed the entire game in what I guess was a “spirit” section. Annoying.

Game was great! Getting there? No so

by Cathy on 11/10/19MAPFRE Stadium - Columbus

We live in Powell which is normally a 28 min drive to Mapfre stadium. Event started at 7:30 and we left our home at 6:15 thinking this would be plenty of time. 71 S was completely backed up, and the exit to Mapfre was blocked off by police sending people away because of back up. We had to pass Mapfre and maneuver our way back through a neighborhood to get back to the stadium parking. Huge problems with management of traffic into the stadium. By the time we parked and got to the stadium it was ner half time. (8pm). Huge disappointment, tickets were not cheap.

    Parking problems

by Tnert on 11/10/19MAPFRE Stadium - Columbus

Once we got to Mapfre the match was good. The lines at the concessions wore terrible though. Getting into the parking lot was the worst that I have ever seen. Traffic was backed up for miles. We found out why when we finally got to the one booth to pay for parking. Should have had at least four booths. When parking costs twenty dollars a car they can afford more than one money taker. Once we got to the lot we assumed it was prettyfull and parked in one of the first spots we saw. Many others were doing the same thing. There were a ton of spots much closer but no one was directing cars.

We missed 20 minutes of the game because parking was a mess.

by BusyB on 11/10/19MAPFRE Stadium - Columbus

The facility did not seem ready to handle that kind of traffic outside the stadium. It was beyond disappointing to be late. Once in the venue the experience was amazing, thankfully. I have been to many major sporting events and never heard so many people complaining about the traffic and parking. People were leaving their cars and walking.

    Great venue, great team

by Soccer fan on 11/10/19MAPFRE Stadium - Columbus

MAPFRE was easy to find, staff was super helpful, parking was only $20! The game was amazing. If you haven’t seen this team play yet, you’ve gotta make it a priority before the roster changes too much!!

    Great game!!

    by K S on 11/10/19MAPFRE Stadium - Columbus

Great game, so glad Columbus hosted the friendly. I hope to see more events like this. Hopefully Mapfre recognize the need for traffic management. I was really surprised that the usual local law enforcement was not there to manage traffic. People missed a lot of the first half, sitting on I71. And getting out after the game was even more ridiculous. Seeing license plates in the parking lot from VA, WV & IN, probably did not leave a good impression for our guests. Great game tho!

    Cold and FUN!!

    by D. S. on 11/10/19MAPFRE Stadium - Columbus

Parking SUCKED!! Security check was slow and unorganized. Young staff seem like they did not know what to do... Scanning e-tickets was quick and easy. Atmosphere and game was great! Thanks!!

    USWNT V Sweden

    by R. on 11/10/19MAPFRE Stadium - Columbus

An absolutely wonderful time at MAPFRE Stadium in Columbus, OH. Our seats were surprisingly incredible. I know locals call the stadium old and outdated, but for an out of town-er, it lended to a wonderful intimacy. Great value!

    Love the team

    by S. M. on 10/10/19Soldier Field - Chicago

I love the team, and seeing a game is always fun. No complaints about that, I always go whenever I can. Don't like the venue: don't personally care to support the NFL, don't like the no-bag/clear bag policy, don't like the increased parking prices. Luckily my phone was able to connect, but I think mobile-entry only is a mistake.

    Disappointment

    by S. on 10/9/19Soldier Field - Chicago

The vendor lost power at popcorn stand so couldn’t process credit or cash transaction. Prices were outrageous, certainly not family friendly.

    Great venue for soccer.

    by R. B. on 10/9/19Soldier Field - Chicago

Soldier Field was a surprise, turned out to be a great place to see the game. Beautiful day which of course helped. Seats in section 234 under the third deck were perfect for us. Will return. US Women's soccer is worth the trip to see them live!

    USWNT

by Felicia on 10/9/19Soldier Field - Chicago

The experience seeing the USWNT is always a great experience, however this time at soldier field, it felt off. It was difficult to connect with the atmosphere they had created, it almost seemed like this event was put together last minute.
