Charming production with lots of adorable children.
I absolutely loved this performance! The choreography was so beautiful and everything well put together. I usually am a little bored with the beginning but was very entertained and enjoyed the extra efforts put into the details. The dancers and costumes were lovely! The Burnsville Performing Arts Center is really a wonderful place to see a ballet as it is very intimate and I don't imagine there is a bad seat in the house. I will definitely be back next year!
This Nutcracker performance was good for bouying Christmas spirit, but as far as great ballet...not so much. I might be tainted having seen the Moscow ballet and Bolshoi ballet, but it just seemed like they had trouble finding boys/men for their parts--lots of girls and women. The sets and costumes, although fine, could have been more. When I pay that kind of money, I guess I'm hoping to be wowed by everything--the dancing, the costumes, the sets--and I wasn't. Like my stepdaughter said (it was her first ballet), "It was ok." Next year, I think I'll stick to Loyce Houlton's Nutcracker ballet.
This was our 1st ever ballet. My 8 1/2 yr old daughters love the Nutcracker story, so they were over joyed with being able to see this in person. The children in the show were adorable, and the dance was amazing. And the Fairy costumes were beautiful! I would recommend taking your children to this show if they can sit still for 2 hours. There was an intermission at mid point, but the child behind us was a little too young to understand the story & couldn't sit still, so that was a bit of a distraction for us. Our seats at the Burnsville Performing Arts Center were in the 3rd row from the stage, & off to the left. There was only two times that the performers were out of sight, so they did a good job keeping it where everyone could see what was going on. This was also our 1st time at the Burnsville Performing Arts Center. I was pleased at how easy it was to access, how close and easy the free parking was, and how cozy of an atmosphere it was. We will definitely be back for another show there! Great show...something my daughters & I will remember for sure!
I brought my 4 year old granddaughter, we both enjoyed it a lot. My granddaughter was captivated by the dancers and her favorite was the nutcracker who came to life. Will probably do it again next year. The theater was perfect for viewing, we sat in the balcony and we could see quite well. Seeing all the little girls in their holiday dresses was fun too!
We attended the Nutcracker during the first winter storm of the season. It was worth the trip! Loved all the dances and the set was beautiful - very colorful. The kids loved it!
Canned music and second act dancing that felt more like a recital than anything. Hard to stay awake.
They did a great job, dancers were very strong! Sets were great as well
The dancers were very good! For me though it is also about the music and I found the canned music not as engaging as live music. That said it was an enjoyable event.
The Twin Cities Ballet was just wonderful! Each year there is a new flavor to the Nutcracker program that a person can see it year after year and not get bored of it! Wonderful dancers bring their own talents to the stage floor it was amazing!
The Nutcracker was a beautiful production, but next year I'll make sure to buy my seats earlier. We were in the balcony and my kids found it hard to see, even though we were in the second row. This was my first time at the BPAC and I had no idea the balcony was so high above the first floor -- it felt like we were a full 2 stories above the stage. We were at such a high angle, we were looking down on the performers' heads the entire time. We could also see all the marks on the stage that showed the dancers where to stand. It wouldn't be a big deal at a concert or comedy performance, but at a ballet, the view was disappointing. We've attended shows all over the Twin Cities (and in New York, Chicago, etc.) and never ran into this problem before. The BPAC is a beautiful facility, but the architect goofed on the balcony design. I won't buy balcony tickets there again.
I thought this was Ballet company that was puting this on, a limited number of real ballet dancers, more like a local theatre company, a number of the cast were not dancers. was more like a dance recital put on with a few real dancer thrown in, I lot of cute young kids Was not what I expected
The show was superior compared to the Nutcracker we seen last year in Rochester. The dancers where graceful and talented which showd the many hours of practice. Thank you for the start of a memorable Christmas!
this ballet performance was not was I was expecting. It seemed like a family dance recital. Although the performance was average, it got progressively better as it went on. Not sure I would have paid $70 for this. I went into the show with a more mature mindframe, so my expectation influenced my opinion of the show.
Great production....family oriented.....some amazing soloists! love that the first section, the beginning of the story got so much attention! We will come back for Cinderella and the wizard of oz!
Entertaining but was essentially a student production. Venue was very nice. Price was a little high for the production type.
We really enjoyed seeing such a classic story in the beautiful traditional format. The dancers as well as back stage did a fantastic job. Thank you for the fun evening.
This production has charm, it has high-level dancing, it is personable and has a great mix of children, professional dancers and great staging. We loved the mix of approachability with excellence in performance. It is rare to find both. The facilities were very nice. The sound system, recording of the Nutcracker and the sound technician's use of volume were perfect. We will be back next year.
The performance was wonderful. It was a joy to watch. Too bad the audience members did not respect other audience members by staying quite during the performance. I am assuming there are matinee performances for the younger audience members. I am not sure I will attend again because I was distracted by the distraction of disrespectful audience members; From the constant talking and noise of food packages being emptied during the performance.
The costumes and dancers are amazing. My 7 year old daughter was speechless. She loved it. I would recommend it to every family.
