Trombone Shorty has amazing energy. Singer and Trombone player. Center Stage was a great venue for them. A mix of people who wanted to sit and enjoy and those who wanted to dance in front of the stage and be up close. It was a great date for my husband and I. Trombone Shorty came out and signed cd's too which is always nice.
Nonstop energy and irresistible beats from this multitalented brass phenom made for an evening of pure delight. He sings and entertains almost as well as he plays that slide, and his slide playing is some of the best ever. His exuberance is understandable -- with that much talent, you gotta show it off. The band is fantastic, and when they all switch instruments, the sound is still on point. Catch this guy, if you can. He is going to be legendary. And don't try to resist the dance beat. You can't. You'll still be smiling a day later!
Tons of energy!! Trombone Shorty knows puts on a great show!
What a great crowd and two incredible shows! I hope Shorty comes back soon and I know i will be going to see Soulphonics & Ruby next chance I get.
I'm 52 years old and this was the best jazz concert I have ever attended.
3rd time I've seen him. Absolutely fabulous. I've taken 6 different friends to different shows and it's unanimous...we love Shorty!!
One of the best shows I've seen in a long time. A packed House of Blues kicked off this year's Jazz Fest with a memorable performance.
I was unfamiliar with Trombone Shorty before this show; and can not stop telling everyone I know about this amazing performance. The entire band is awesome, however Trombone Shorty jumps out as maybe the premier horn player of this generation. Undoubtedly this is a world-class performer that every person should see and enjoy!
This was nothing short of an amazing show. The music was fantastic and with Troy's energy it was unbelievable! I brought a few friends who are not even big jazz fans and they were thrilled.
For some reason, the Jazz Arts Group and their sound people decided that instead of good jazz, we should all be subjected to a rock concert. The noise was intolerable. Rock concerts may be supposed to be like that, but not jazz. We came home and checked out Trombone Shorty on line. Such a beautiful sound! The Jazz Arts Group refused to let us hear it and ruined it for Columbus.
WOW!!! I could go see this band every week. Absolutely loved the show!
AWESOME! Loved the show. The theater got a little hot, but the show itself was amazing!
I've been following Los Amigos Invisibles for almost 20 years, they are definitely one of the best acts coming from Venezuela. I had heard about Trombone Shorty, but never bothered to research about him. I was surprised with the talent of this guy and his band. Excellent performance and sound. A show worth every penny!
I went to see Los Amigos and was pleasantly surprised by Trombone Shorty. Los Amigo was wonderful as always but what happen after made me a shorty fan fo sho! The cd doesn't do this guy justice, live is the only way to experience this amazingly talented artist.
Trombone Shorty stands alone amongst great young jazz musicians.
Trou Trombone Shorty is an awesome showman, you totally get your monies worth and then some. Would love to see him rock it out on his home turf. Love ya TS.
Both bands were just incredible - great sets and great crowd! Trombone Shorty played a long time and really had everyone rocking.
Go see Trombone Shorty whenever you have the opportunity! Sensational, accessible, rockin' jazz. Shorty is a virtuoso on both trombone and trumpet, and his band is terrific together (very, very tight - they've obviously played together for some time) and individually. Los Amigos (his opening act) are fine but nothing really special, but Shorty is the best!
Trombone Shorty is awesome. His rendition of On the Sunny Side of the Street was incredible.
