    Amazing SHow

by Koch on 2/27/24The Capitol Theatre - Port Chester

Wow, what a showman Trombone Shorty is, and his band is so talented. An awesome shoe in an awesome venue the Capital Theatre. He rocked the house from start to finish with amazing solos from him and his very talented band members. We will definitely go see him again.

by Jules on 2/27/24The Capitol Theatre - Port Chester

Our first time at this venue and we will definitely be back. Not a. bad seat in the house! We have seen Shorty many times and always a pleasure to get a taste of NOLA in NY.

    An exciting musical evening.

by LPK on 2/26/24Ulster Performing Arts Center - Kingston

Trombone Shorty and his band were absolutely outstanding. He is a jazz virtuoso! And, his duet with the bass sax player remarkable. At one point, Trombone Shorty came off stage into the audience, and played a beautiful solo piece for a handicapped woman in a wheelchair. Very moving. All in all, it was one of the best concerts l've been to; a lively and amazing musical evening.

    Negative, off the charts

by rockdoctor on 2/26/24Ulster Performing Arts Center - Kingston

The opening band was fine. Trombone Shorty was terrible. Too loud for any one's eardrums. Too much spotlights on the audience for anyone's eyes. I left after 20 minutes. The performance could destroy the audio and visual health of any person who attended. I think a class action lawsuit could put them right out of business. I love good trombone music, but not the loud noises they created. My rating is ZERO STARS.

    Performance amazing; State sound stinks

by Carter on 2/25/24State Theatre - Portland

Everything about Trombone Shorty and his incredible band's performance was amazing. Everything. No weak links in the band, as musicians and overall performers. Trombone Shorty himself is a phenomenal musician, showman, and bandleader. The sound techs at the State Theater, however, are another matter: somewhere about two thirds of the way through, they turned the bass (which was already high) up sharply and left it there. I could scarcely hear the other instruments and singers. It was not quite enough to ruin the show for me, but that says more about Trombone Shorty than about the sound. Re-train them, fire them, I don't care, but fix it, State. This is not the first time.

    Disappointed

by Jazz Man on 2/24/24State Theatre - Portland

Not fun - Way too loud, Decibel level was painful and damaging! The performance was more noise than music. Not at all the New Orleans style that I expected from the hype on Mardi Gras!

    Shorty at the State

by Cantski on 2/24/24State Theatre - Portland

Trombone Shorty never fails to deliver. We have scene him three times before. All of these at outside festivals and indoors at the State didn’t do the band justice. Granted the music is phenomenal but it was so overwhelming at the theater that you couldn’t hear the vocalist who is a showstopper in her own right. We need the funk is a great set he does and we’d see him again just for that. In fact this summer we are. CLASS ACT !!!!

No More Spinning of Records as a Prelude!

by Map on 2/23/24State Theatre - Portland

The doors opened at 7 PM, the spinning of records for two hours before the headliner, Trombone Shorty, wore me and my date out. We stayed long enough to see when the spinning would stop which didn't happen until 9 PM. I wanted to discover Trombone Shorty's music and will have to rely on YouTube or one of the streaming services for that. We were not alone making a French Exit.

    Always Amazing

by Mary S on 2/23/24State Theatre - Portland

Trombone Shorty and the Orleans Avenue was amazing as usual. Two factors in the 4/5. One the lead in act - a DJ - did not entertain us or warm up the crowd. We were ready for him to be done after 10 minutes. Second factor was the sound levels - I could not understand anything anyone said into the microphone. Music and showmanship was amazing.

Shorty and his band checked all the boxes !

by Bill on 2/23/24State Theatre - Portland

Trombone Shorty and Orleans Avenue were absolutely electric. It was a high-octane performance from start to finish. He is incredibly talented, and the band was outstanding and extremely complimentary. I loved how Mr. Andrews connected with the audience. He was charismatic, engaging and genuinely thrilled to be performing. His energy was off the charts, and he had the audience from the moment he walked on stage. It was infectious. A must-see artist!

    Ouch!

Great musicianship, great showmanship…but SUPER loud.

    Fantastic but STUPID LOUD

by Meredith on 2/23/24State Theatre - Portland

I saw them at State Theater in Portland, Maine. I don’t know if the sound level is managed by the venue or the band’s own people, but it was ridiculously, painfully loud. Such a disservice to these incredible musicians because it made their voices so distorted over the mics. Female singer had a gorgeous voice, but you could only really hear her among the din if you pressed your ears closed, as i did, or were smart enough to remember earplugs. There is just NO EXCUSE for assaulting audiences with that kind of volume in an enclosed space. It really spoiled the experience. Otherwise, the band gets 6 stars if i could!!! Phenomenal.

    Family excursion

by Kat and Buff on 2/23/24State Theatre - Portland

I wasn’t familiar but my dad (75) is a music Buff and had wanted to see them a couple years ago. It was a great show, all ages in attendance. The people at the State were helpful and kind as always. The music was phenomenal. If we could have been down on the floor dancing we would have been. I was very pleasantly surprised.

    Warm up DJ

by tbop on 2/23/24State Theatre - Portland

Don't even have a warm up band if it's going to be a DJ waste of my time nobody liked him. Just play the main event earlier.
