Trans-Siberian Orchestra On Tour

The holidays rock a whole lot harder than they ever have thanks to Trans-Siberian Orchestra. By infusing seasonal classics with rock flamboyance, a symphonic sense of scope, and an eye-popping visual presentation complete with lasers and pyrotechnics, what began as a side project for a veteran group of American hard rockers has grown into one of today's top-selling acts, with over 10 million concert tickets sold since 1999.

Now, to celebrate the band's 20th year on the road, Trans-Siberian Orchestra is mounting an all-new production of the show that first turned them into an arena-rock phenomenon. First performed in 1999 and recorded for a TV special – which became just as much of a holiday staple as ‘The Sound of Music' – ‘The Ghosts of Christmas Eve' was conceived by Paul O'Neill, TSO's original mastermind. A veteran producer for acts like Aerosmith and Savatage, O'Neill was inspired by the rock operas of The Who and the grandly theatrical concerts of Pink Floyd to create something that was even more spectacular. Together with Savatage members Jon Oliva, Bob Kinkel, and Al Pitrelli, O'Neill developed a unique project that married the spirit of the season with all the exhilarating sounds, operatic grandeur, and visual bravura that fans had come to expect of rock gods. After the massive success of TSO's first two albums, ‘Christmas Eve and Other Stories' and ‘The Christmas Attic,' O'Neill and his team took it on the road (and TV screens) with similarly blockbuster results.

Though TSO's repertoire would extend far beyond holiday songs to encompass the greats of classical music on ‘Beethoven's Last Night' and O'Neill's own original rock operas like ‘Night Castle,' their thrilling and highly singular take on seasonal music remains their trademark. Tragically, O'Neill's passing in 2017 robbed the music world of a true visionary. But his team of friends and collaborators in the Trans-Siberian Orchestra honor his legacy with a new production of ‘The Ghosts of Christmas Past' that both preserves and revitalizes a landmark merger of music, theatrics, storytelling, and seasonal cheer that yielded an international phenomenon.

  • Always fun to go see!

by CFan on 12/31/24American Airlines Center - DallasRating: 4 out of 5

I've been many times and always enjoy the performance. I gave it 4 stars, instead of 5, because I would like to hear more of just the band and a little less of the Christmas story and the added singers.

  • Wonderful End to Christmas Season

This was my third show ever. I am still amazed by the performance. Great music and visuals.

  • Not Impressed

Our second time to this event. This year I was a little disappointed. But I guess after you've seen them you expect more. We were really excited about going. Our first event was spectacular.

TSO never disappoints. They rock and are a blast to see. If you haven't been, find a show and go to it!

  • Not to be missed

by Canada Dan on 12/31/24Little Caesars Arena - DetroitRating: 5 out of 5

Absolutely outstanding performance that was appropriate for all ages with the exception of very young children. The staging was magnificent and we were simply blown away by the talent level...experience was beyond our expectations.

  • Good show but 200 level audio NOT great.

by Lee on 12/31/24Little Caesars Arena - DetroitRating: 3 out of 5

The bad: By no fault of the artist's, we couldn't understand any words. Section 228 high up to the side of the stage had terrible audio. The good: The show was spectacular as expected. The performers were amazing, the singers, musician's, light & lasers, and pyrotechnics were awesome. Bottom line: Pay for good seats in lower bowl or main floor out from the front of stage for the best experience. Don't take the cheap seats.

  • Dallas, Texas appearance of TSO 2024

by Doug on 12/31/24American Airlines Center - DallasRating: 4 out of 5

I do jump at the chance to attend each year TSO comes to town. My close friend, Kevin, is a huge fan and supporter and he always makes sure I have at least one ticket for me. This year things seemed out of sorts most likely because of the new story line and the "out of sequence"order of the songs we all enjoy hearing. The production was however outstanding and the use of the hydraulic arms to lift over the crowd was OK. It is a treat when Angus and Asha suddenly appear out in the audience. I really liked last year's set up, song list sequence, story line, and "blow stuff up"ending. And PS....tell Chloe she is adorable!!! ;-)

  • Great show

  • Sound was awful!

by Very Frustrated on 12/31/24Little Caesars Arena - DetroitRating: 1 out of 5

First and last time seeing TSO. We saw them in Detroit, show was to start at 3:00, production was delayed setting up so doors didn't even open until 3:00. The show started at 3:15 and people were still filing in, by the time we got through security and to our seats it was 3:25. Getting to our seats, 2nd level, 5th row just to the left of the stage we could not hear or understand anything that was being said or sung, the sound was projected straight, to the back of the arena and was muffled from where we sat. Others around us were also complaining and a few even got up and left. We stayed until the end, but were considering leaving 10 minutes after we got to our seats. The only highlight of the show was when an amazing female performer sang, for some reason were able to hear her and I'm glad we could. Very lackluster performance, the sound was atrocious and if you asked me anything about what the show was about I couldn't tell you. Very disappointed.

  • Not as good as last time

by dave on 12/31/24Little Caesars Arena - DetroitRating: 3 out of 5

This performance was disappointing. Could not hear the storyteller that well over the microphone. The first 2/3 had a slow storyline. Only recognized a few of the songs. Grade for this portion: C+. Last 1/3 was better; at least, I recognized the songs. Grade for this portion B. Overall grade: B-.

  • They always deliver

by Dan the Man on 12/31/24American Airlines Center - DallasRating: 5 out of 5

This is our third year in a row, last year 2023 we saw them at Dickies arena in Fort Worth, my wife mentioned they didn't sound as loud, Dickies is a smaller venue so yes it will be louder but AAC I think is the best place for TSO. Like my review title said, they delivered! The only thing I could say the middle of set was a little slow but still great. Thanks again TSO, see you next year!

  • Great show, but sad story.

by Rich S on 12/31/24Wells Fargo Center - PhiladelphiaRating: 5 out of 5

The overall show was excellent. The story in part 1 was really sad. Part 1 was over an hour. Part 2 was all music. The light, laser and pyrotechnics were the best I've ever seen. I highly recommend seeing them at least once in a lifetime. The venue on the other hand had an ecsulator going up to club level, but didn't reverse it after the show. My handicapped wife and I had to walk all the way to one side of the stadium for an elevator, then all the way to the other end to where we parked.

  • Awesome!

by Grannie Annie on 12/31/24American Airlines Center - DallasRating: 5 out of 5

From the first note I’m loving it! The energy from everyone on stage was great! I really loved the stairs and the setup on the stage! The story was so moving. I love the keyboard and watching that part is always my favorite! I’m the kind of person that if I pay to see something I’m going to sit there and watch it all. I wanted to scream at the people who was constantly up and down to sit down and watch! 😉 Thank you for such a wonderful time!

  • Christmas Rock at it's finest
