Trans-Siberian Orchestra On Tour

The holidays rock a whole lot harder than they ever have thanks to Trans-Siberian Orchestra. By infusing seasonal classics with rock flamboyance, a symphonic sense of scope, and an eye-popping visual presentation complete with lasers and pyrotechnics, what began as a side project for a veteran group of American hard rockers has grown into one of today's top-selling acts, with over 10 million concert tickets sold since 1999.

Now, to celebrate the band's 20th year on the road, Trans-Siberian Orchestra is mounting an all-new production of the show that first turned them into an arena-rock phenomenon. First performed in 1999 and recorded for a TV special – which became just as much of a holiday staple as ‘The Sound of Music' – ‘The Ghosts of Christmas Eve' was conceived by Paul O'Neill, TSO's original mastermind. A veteran producer for acts like Aerosmith and Savatage, O'Neill was inspired by the rock operas of The Who and the grandly theatrical concerts of Pink Floyd to create something that was even more spectacular. Together with Savatage members Jon Oliva, Bob Kinkel, and Al Pitrelli, O'Neill developed a unique project that married the spirit of the season with all the exhilarating sounds, operatic grandeur, and visual bravura that fans had come to expect of rock gods. After the massive success of TSO's first two albums, ‘Christmas Eve and Other Stories' and ‘The Christmas Attic,' O'Neill and his team took it on the road (and TV screens) with similarly blockbuster results.

Though TSO's repertoire would extend far beyond holiday songs to encompass the greats of classical music on ‘Beethoven's Last Night' and O'Neill's own original rock operas like ‘Night Castle,' their thrilling and highly singular take on seasonal music remains their trademark. Tragically, O'Neill's passing in 2017 robbed the music world of a true visionary. But his team of friends and collaborators in the Trans-Siberian Orchestra honor his legacy with a new production of ‘The Ghosts of Christmas Past' that both preserves and revitalizes a landmark merger of music, theatrics, storytelling, and seasonal cheer that yielded an international phenomenon.

    Awesome

by Mrs. Stokes on 1/2/24Nationwide Arena - Columbus

Nothing like I thought it would be. Great singers, choice of music, the guitars, violin player. Got the audience involved with the show. Lots of planning, organization went into this show and of the best light show ever. Great family show.

Great concert to end the year

by LADJ on 1/2/24Xcel Energy Center - Saint Paul

First time attending TSO concert. As a family we discussed our experience. Sitting near the back (opposite) the stage. We found music was very loud, leaned heavily on the 'hard rock' side. Would have enjoyed a few more mellow selections interspersed throughout the concert, as was done during the second half. Enjoyed the storyline. Thought the lighting special effects were amazing! Guitars were also amazing, but so overpowering, it was difficult to distinguish the sound of the violin or the rest of the orchestra. The overall experience was great and would consider attending again.

    Ok, not what I expected

by Sandy on 1/2/24Xcel Energy Center - Saint Paul

Too much singing, not enough orchestra. Was expecting more light show and orchestra. Not all the singing solos.

    Terrific

by none on 1/2/24Allstate Arena - Rosemont

Seen the show multiple times and just love it. Getting tired of the Christmas Eve story with Ozzie Davis and seemed a bit more of a downer show than usual. Lasers and effects were awesome as were the voices and the musicians. Maybe I just need to give a rest for a couple of years. Still, highly recommend the show to anyone interested!

Once again, the TSO group out did themselves. The show was great. The snow globe they did this year was spectacular. The music was fantastic. The performance was outstanding. I have been to numerous concerts of theirs and they just seem to get better each year. I love their music and shows.

    Done it once, that’s enough

by First and Last on 1/2/24Xcel Energy Center - Saint Paul

While the light show and lasers were amazing, for me they were too much. I guess I was expecting a bit more orchestral sound than driving electric guitars, too. Their name is deceiving. Lots of energy and really good staging still could not keep me from wondering when it was going to end. Glad I went so I now know I don’t need to go again.

    Amazing Show!

by AK on 1/2/24Xcel Energy Center - Saint Paul

We LOVED this show! The music itself is fabulous, professional, and truly so impressive. The level of musical talent is off the charts. Add in the amazing light show and special effects and it's better than we could have ever imagined. We loved every minute of it! Just a side note, the musicians also seemed to love every minute of it. They were so engaging and seemed truly happy to be in our city and performing for us. It was a great vibe and experience all around.
