About

Train are a Grammy Award-winning rock band who have released 11 studio albums, selling over 10 million copies worldwide. Formed in San Francisco in 1993, Train released their self-titled debut in 1998, but they broke through to the mainstream with their 2001 follow-up, Drops of Jupiter, which became their first of six Top 10 albums behind their seven-time platinum single of the same name. To date, Train have logged six Top 20 singles on the Billboard Hot 100 and four No. 1 songs on the Adult Pop Airplay chart, including 2003’s “Calling All Angels” and 2009’s “Hey, Soul Sister.” The group has embraced various genres through collaborations with leading country artists like Martina McBride, Ashley Monroe and Tenille Townes, rapper Travie McCoy and pop singers such as Sofía Reyes and Cam. Train have gone on tour nearly every year since 1996, playing in over 25 countries and sharing the bill with the likes of Hall & Oates, Goo Goo Dolls and Jewel. As of 2024, the band is made up of founding frontman Pat Monahan, Taylor Locke (guitar and vocals), Hector Maldonado (bass and vocals), Jerry Becker (keyboards and guitar), and Matt Musty (drums).

    Everyone was awesome!

by sweatinbyanoldie on 9/27/09Discovery Park - Sacramento

Except for it being 800 degrees, the concert was great - might think about holding it at a shadier place next year - Howie Day was amazing!

    Hoobastank Cranked!!! Train exploded!!

by RockinWillie on 9/27/09Discovery Park - Sacramento

Hoobastank sweated through a 100 degree afternoon and turned up the heat to the boiling level. Outstanding versions of "Out of Control" , "Moving in the Same Direction", and songs from the last three CD's. The audience was fired up, sang along and responded well to the tremendous stage energy Train rocked the house, got the audience involved in the show and put on a great show. The lead vocalist was engaging and showed a lighter side bringing some younger kids on stage to sing along. A true showman, he brought the audience into the music and laid his heart out for all to share in his love of the music. A highligt of the show was a cover of the Led Zeppelin tune "Ramble On", that brought tremendous energy and revved up the audience. Again they braved the soaring 100 degree heat and were gracious and professional musicianship with excellent sound mixing kept the vibration high throughout the afternoon.

    Train was great!

by BAFord on 9/27/09Discovery Park - Sacramento

I really liked hearing Train's "new" title track, "Save Me, San Francisco". I thought they sounded great and Pat and the band put on a great performance even though it was extremely hot looking into the sun from 4-5pm.

    Colbie Caillat Sole the Show

    by Rosebud823 on 9/27/09Discovery Park - Sacramento

Howie Day led the program with a great performance. Even though it was an extremely hot day the music and atmosphere was even hotter. Colbie came out in the basket of a Sacramento Fire Ladder Truck and Sang her first number "I Won't". She then came down to the stage and then sang at least 7 more songs. She kept the crowd on their feet in the sun the whole performance. Hoobastank did well and the beach balls were flying! Train brought the crowd back to their feet for the final act. It was a long day in the sun, but enjoyable. The crowd had the chance to cool off under the showers from a water cannon of the fire engine. All in all another great event.

    HOT concert in the park

by gigglyB on 9/27/09Discovery Park - Sacramento

This was my first time attending "A Day in the Zone". Had a good time. Great line up - loved Train and Hoobastank! Extremely HOT weather - definitely need to bring something to keep cool (ice, water bottles, etc), no shade near the stage area. Love the beer garden setup (it was the coolest place in that area of the park). Depending on next years lineup, I may attend this event again next year.

    TRAIN is NUMBER ONE!!

by FOLSOMMITCH on 9/27/09Discovery Park - Sacramento

Never a dull show. As always do a great Zeppelin cover song. Monohan is one of the greatest song writers of today. HE IS THE BEST FRONT MAN in the biz. GIves the fans so much for the money and leaves you wanting more. This is the second time I have seen him bring kids on stage to sing with him. He is a class act. Jimmy his best friend knows how to rock the house with his guitar. I see them any time I can. Dont miss seeing one of the greatest most entertaining bands of our day!! Thanks for the great show!!

    Day in The Zone 2009

by Casami on 9/27/09Discovery Park - Sacramento

Howie Day was amazing starting the show and bringing us in. Colbie Caillat was sweet sounding. Hoobastank rocked the house and could have kept me baking in the sun all time as we were entranced by their great music. Meeting Jon Brockman one of the new rookie Kings was a nice sweet perk.

    Train was epic.

by PabloPicasso on 9/27/09Discovery Park - Sacramento

The show was good. Needs more vendors/ people advertising giving stuff away. It was a good show, and for the price unbeatable.

    Hoobastank was AWESOME!

by AngCrys on 9/27/09Discovery Park - Sacramento

This concert would have been so much better without Howie Day and Colbie Caillat. It was sooooooo hot and those 2 brought the mood down. Hoobastank and Train were awesome!!! But by the time they came on it was the hottest part of the day and everyone was drenched in sweat! Next year the concert should start at about 5pm instead of 12 due to the heat. It would be much more enjoyable w/ out the sun beating down on you.

    Nicely done!

    by Hobbes20 on 9/27/09Discovery Park - Sacramento

Discovery Park is a good venue that's comfortable enough and easy to get to and park in. Despite 100 degree Sacto heat, the afternoon was almost tolerable due to the availability of shaded areas within the venue. VIP and vendor booths blocked the view of the stage from much of the shaded areas but, if willing to be in the sun, there was ample space from which to view the stage. Appreciated the family-friendly atmosphere. More seating in the beer garden area would have been nice though. Food/beverage choices were plentiful and good, although quite pricey! Oh yea, the music was great! Really fun to see these top-notch performers in a more casual and intimate setting than a big arena.

    Train was amazing!

by Trainette on 9/27/09Discovery Park - Sacramento

Except for the day being 100+ degrees, it was AWESOME! Front man for Train was hilarious & they sounded amazing! If they are ever in our area again - we will be there. The bounce houses for the kids was great too. We will definitely be going back to a Day in the Zone!

by lovenmusic on 9/27/09Discovery Park - Sacramento

It was HOT! But worth it. All the bands were amazing. I would see any of them again and plan too. My second year going and each year is better then the last. If you get the chance you have to go next year. THANKS 100.5.

    Worth the heat!

by MeiQueen on 9/27/09Discovery Park - Sacramento

Even though the heat was blazing around 101 degrees (and many of us were directly out there in it), all the artists put on a great show! I was really excited to see Colbie Caillat and Train, who both had incredible energy and enthusiasm while performing. Hoobastank and Howie Day were both fantastic, too :)

    Awesome

    by Jenn3203 on 8/9/09Jordan Park - Arlington

I have been a huge fan of Train for years and I got the opportunity to see them last night at a local festival and they put on an amazing show! Played old stuff, new stuff and even a little bit of some other artists' music. Pat Monahan and the rest of the band, they are truely talented!! I was excited to learn they have a new album coming out, and that they will be in Seattle on October 20th at the Moore. I'll be buying my tickets as soon as they're available. Welcom Back guys. we've missed you!!
