About

Train are a Grammy Award-winning rock band who have released 11 studio albums, selling over 10 million copies worldwide. Formed in San Francisco in 1993, Train released their self-titled debut in 1998, but they broke through to the mainstream with their 2001 follow-up, Drops of Jupiter, which became their first of six Top 10 albums behind their seven-time platinum single of the same name. To date, Train have logged six Top 20 singles on the Billboard Hot 100 and four No. 1 songs on the Adult Pop Airplay chart, including 2003’s “Calling All Angels” and 2009’s “Hey, Soul Sister.” The group has embraced various genres through collaborations with leading country artists like Martina McBride, Ashley Monroe and Tenille Townes, rapper Travie McCoy and pop singers such as Sofía Reyes and Cam. Train have gone on tour nearly every year since 1996, playing in over 25 countries and sharing the bill with the likes of Hall & Oates, Goo Goo Dolls and Jewel. As of 2024, the band is made up of founding frontman Pat Monahan, Taylor Locke (guitar and vocals), Hector Maldonado (bass and vocals), Jerry Becker (keyboards and guitar), and Matt Musty (drums).

  • Great Show - but hot, hot, hot!

by Trisha on 9/14/24Talking Stick Resort Amphitheatre - PhoenixRating: 4 out of 5

Concert was supposed to be Yacht Rock Review, REO Speedwagon, and Train. Due to an illness, REO Speedwagon did not perform solo...the band members were on stage with Yacht Rock Review and Train for several numbers. Also, YRR and Train did a few of REO's hits - so you really didn't miss that they didn't perform. My first time seeing YRR and I loved them! I've seen Train numerous time and Pat and the boys did not disappoint. Considering it was 100+ degrees in Phoenix and this is an outdoor venue, you were allowed to bring in water and they had water refill stations set up around the venue. We were under the roof, but several times the fans went off and it got REALLY HOT. There were several options for food and drink, and the restrooms clearly marked. Exiting the parking lot was a bit trying - as people would not let you merge or they would just cut you off....but that's Arizona every day!

This might've been the best concert I've ever been to. The atmosphere was great, the energy was amazing. Train completely carried the show when REO Speedwagon couldn't be there!!!. Their songs, cover songs, all of it. Absolutely amazing. Can't wait to see them again!

  • Sound was terrible

by J.R. on 9/14/24Talking Stick Resort Amphitheatre - PhoenixRating: 2 out of 5

Opening act was great and sounded great. After the first couple songs by train, Pat Monahan’s voice sounded like he had just ingested helium from a balloon and the reverb was bad. It continued for rest of their set. It was most noticeable when the saxophonist from yacht rock revue came out and he sounded terrible after sounding great earlier. Something obviously changed with sound system and they never fixed it. We have seen multiple times and this was the first bad experience

Disappointed that REO could not play but Train and Rock Yacht Review rocked the Venue. Both Bands were fantastic. The energy that started front to back was great ! Train just kept-a- rollin. Had lawn seats but we were upgraded to regular seats that were good.

The Train concert in Chula Vista was beyond amazing! I was disappointed that REO would not be performing but Train did not disappoint! I have always been a fan and I hope to see them again down the road. Also I am now a fan of Yacht Roc Revue! What a fun and extremely talented band! It was definitely a magical night under the stars!

  • Train is always a great show!

by Gigi on 9/13/24North Island Credit Union Amphitheatre - Chula VistaRating: 5 out of 5

This is our 4th time seeing Train. They always put on a fabulous show. I like this one best out of all of them. The whole show was energetic, the stage was well lit and the sound was great. They covered a few songs with perfection and played all their oldies and a few songs from their new album. All in all, it was a great time and I would see them again!

  • Great Show, Rideshare Facilities Need Work

by Greg on 9/13/24North Island Credit Union Amphitheatre - Chula VistaRating: 5 out of 5

The amphitheater itself is a great concert venue. The staff is top notch. Train once again killed it and Yacht Rock Review was a surprisingly great opener. My suggestion is to improve the rideshare infrastructure after the show. I have seen 10 or so shows at Chula Vista and walking along the dimly lit Heritage Rd over the Otay River behind a makeshift barricade in the uneven dirt all the way to corner of Main St and Heritage Rd where the rideshare pick-up area is located is, in a word, unpleasant. While the pick-up area is well-marked with a portable message sign, it is not well lit in general. A big negative to me is that the pick-up area is clogged with parked taxi and livery drivers trolling for fares making it difficult to find one's Uber or Lyft driver while also declining the numerous "do you need a ride"sales pitches. Definitely a first world problem, but making rideshare areas streamlined and safe benefits everyone. Pave and light the pedestrian area and make a separate taxi stand area. Concert-goers will then be able to more quickly and safely depart the venue in their assigned Uber or Lyft.

  • Great concert!

by JdkMom3 on 9/13/24North Island Credit Union Amphitheatre - Chula VistaRating: 5 out of 5

Train rocked! The whole band was on fire and they sounded great! Pat Monahan can still bring it! Train played so their hits and a couple I hadn’t heard before. The whole experience was truly magical and I would see them again.

  • good concert

The concert was good despite REO Speedwagon having to cancel Train always puts on a good show

  • Great time

by Katrinc on 9/13/24North Island Credit Union Amphitheatre - Chula VistaRating: 5 out of 5

This was my 2nd time seeing Train and my husband's 1st. I love how Pat engaged with the audience. The band brings a lot of energy to the night. Great songs. We were sad REO wasn't able to make it but enjoyed the concert still. My husband said "I would see Train again"and so would I.

  • Amazing concert!
