Toronto Raptors History

The Toronto Raptors were founded in 1995 as part of the NBA's expansion into Canada. The Raptors have been the only NBA team based in Canada since the 2001–02 season. After acquiring eight-time All-Star Vince Carter in 1998, the Raptors set league-wide attendance records and made the playoffs from 2000 to 2002. Led by Carter, the Raptors earned their first playoff series win in 2001 and advanced to the Eastern Conference semifinals.

The Raptors didn't return to the playoffs until the 2006–07 season, when they won the Atlantic Division title. After Masai Ujiri joined as the team's General Manager in 2013, the Raptors became a consistent playoff team, winning five division titles and having their most successful season in 2018. The following year, during the 2019 playoffs, the Raptors earned their first Eastern Conference title and went on to win their first NBA championship, defeating the Warriors in 6 games.

    Freddy

by Freddy fan on 2/12/24Scotiabank Arena - Toronto

Had a great time cheering Fred Van Vleet on his first return back. But didn't realize I bought standing room tickets. Fan services helped us by getting us folding seats as I brought my elderly mom. Cheers and a great big thank you to Daniel Alvarez of fan services for making it a great night!!

    I’m a Miami Heat fan!

by julianpe on 1/20/24Scotiabank Arena - Toronto

I went to see my team and could care less about the host team. Big Miami Heat fan since 2001 and can only describe it as a great time when I have a chance to see them play anywhere. The atmosphere it’s been better at the Scotiabank Arena as there was not a full capacity and to be honest Raptors fans might be one of the most dull low energy fans in the entire NBA. Besides a decent cup of Tim Hortons coffee for a reasonable cost, everything else is way overpriced. $14 for a poutine?! $10 for a slice of pizza? I could go on an on.

    Scotiabank Arena has its magic!

    by R.Vargas on 11/20/23Scotiabank Arena - Toronto

This was my first visit to a live NBA game. No Regrets! What a great experience! The Arena is fantastic, and the seat distribution allows you to enjoy every minute in the arena. This is an event to live at least once in life.

    Star Players Sat Again

by Zach C on 11/18/23Scotiabank Arena - Toronto

An unfortunate uncontrollable possibility with sports games is that teams' star players sit. This is the 5th game in a row now that I've attended where the opposing teams star players have sat and there have been multiple rests to the Toronto Raptors starting lineup. It really devalues the games for me for what are very expensive tickets. I probably won't be purchasing tickets again in the future.

    Daughters first NBA game

by Raps Dad on 10/19/23Scotiabank Arena - Toronto

The seats were phenomenal, the game was great and Herbie Kuhn threw my daughter a T-shirt. Couldn’t have asked for a better time for her first NBA game! Basketball is the only sport that can keep a 7 year old fully entertained. Popcorn, the Raptor mascot, dancers and the game itself. Well worth the money for the memories!

    Frozen Out

by NuttyP on 3/27/23Scotiabank Arena - Toronto

We chose the ADA seating due to not being able to bend my knee after 2 knee replacements. It was absolutely freezing in our section for a major portion of the game. We were told by an usher that the outside doors were open prior to the game starting and that was why he was wearing a jacket. He mentioned that they would be closed when the game started. It was like an A/C unit was blowing full blast on us for most of the game. My wife, 2 children, and myself were freezing for a majority of the game. This made for a very miserable time as our focus was not on the game, but rather how to get warm. My children and wife wore their jackets the whole time. I was extremely disappointed with this experience!
