Toronto Maple Leafs History

The Toronto Maple Leafs have 13 Stanley Cup Championships and seven division championships, with more than 60 former players, coaches and executives in the Hockey Hall of Fame. The Maple Leafs were one of the NHL's founding teams in 1917. They originally were known as the Arenas and then the St. Patricks before taking their current name in 1927 after Conn Smythe bought the franchise.

The team won two Stanley Cup Championships in the NHL's first five years and returned to the finals in 1932 behind the "Kid Line" of eventual Hall of Famers Charlie Conacher, Joe Primeau, and Busher Jackson. In 1942, they defeated the Detroit Red Wings in seven games to win the first of five Stanley Cup Championships under coach Hap Day. The addition the following year of center Ted Kennedy helped the Leafs maintain their dominance, and resulted in another title in 1951.

The Leafs won three Stanley Cup Championships in a row starting in 1962, and another in the 1966-1967 season, thanks to a roster brimming with players who would end up in the Hall of Fame: George Armstrong, Johnny Bower, Red Kelly, Dave Keon, Tim Horton, Allan Stanley, Bob Pulford, and Frank Mahovlich.

The team returned to the conference finals in 1992-1993 and 1993-1994, then again in 1998-1999—the latter trip powered by eventual franchise scoring leader Mats Sundin. The Maple Leafs have appeared in the Playoffs every year consecutively since 2017. The Toronto Maple Leafs have made the Playoffs a total of 74 times to date.

  • It was awesome

by Chico on 5/10/25Scotiabank Arena - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Best Ever. Awesome experience. Thoroughly enjoyed the game.

  • Leafs were hot garbage

by Craig on 5/2/25Scotiabank Arena - TorontoRating: 3 out of 5

Leafs were hot garbage but the night wasn't a complete write off. I discovered the new walk-in, self-serve beer fridges! Way better than standing in line for 20 minutes waiting for a draft to be poured for you. This is the way of the future! Well done MLSE!!

  • Great Experience!!

by Mooseheaddc on 4/25/25Scotiabank Arena - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Wonderful seats for 2 Leafs playoff games!! Great atmosphere at Scotiabank Arena. Very impressed by the venue, staff and amazing Leafs Fans!!!

  • MAXimum Blast

by markb on 4/23/25Scotiabank Arena - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

It’s always an absolute blast going to a TML game. And it was even better in the playoffs with free hockey in OT. And the cherry on top… Max Domi with the gwg and “Panama” pumping. Electric crowd.

  • Awesome game!

by Craig on 4/8/25Scotiabank Arena - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

5-0 Leafs win over the Columbus Blue Jackets. Seats were tight (reds in the corner, lower bowl, angled and almost impossible to fit into) but the view was great. Renovations to the concourse level at Scotiabank Arena are nice but not complete yet. Looking forward to the Leafs in the playoffs - this is the year! :)

  • No view of the net

by Mel on 3/23/25Scotiabank Arena - TorontoRating: 1 out of 5

The game was great however our seats were not. We were in row 313 seats 9 and 10 and the net at our end was not visible at all. We were aware there was an obstructed view when we booked however the view ticketmaster shows vs the real view is no comparison. The balcony to the left sticks out so far there was no view of the net at all, you had to watch the jumbo screen. The first 4 seats in the row had a clear view but as you went further down the row was worse.

  • Disappointing purchase

by AUtting on 3/22/25Scotiabank Arena - TorontoRating: 1 out of 5

When I purchased these tickets it wasn’t until I paid for them that it said the view was obstructed! I would have never purchased these if the information was upfront!! They weren’t any cheaper than tickets in the same area where the view wasn’t obstructed. The end that was obstructed included the net and corner. It happened to be the end where for two periods the leafs were shooting on this end. Very disappointing. You need to be more upfront with these details!

  • 10 rows up ticket said unrestricted view

by Featherstone on 3/22/25Scotiabank Arena - TorontoRating: 1 out of 5

Very disappointed in the event, I literally could not see half the ice surface. We bought premium seats and could not see both me and my kid very disappointed will not be going back through Ticketmaster on any tickets.my kid was more disappointed than I was but I am not 9.

  • Upsetting

by Unbelievable terrible handicap access on 3/20/25Scotiabank Arena - TorontoRating: 1 out of 5

Worst handicap accessible building and services need seperate entrance and spare wheel chairs Letting other people walk all over us now getting in

  • Perfect stadium

by Elmar on 1/23/25Scotiabank Arena - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

I joined two NHL games at Scotiabank Arena and I was totally impressed by the Venue and also by the Leafs and there performance.

  • Absolutely best game I've been too!!

by Antonia on 1/19/25Scotiabank Arena - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

My son bought my husband and I tickets for Christmas. I am a die hard, never miss a game, scream at the tv, lazy boy coach of the Toronto Maple Leafs. We've wanted to come see a game but finances are terrible for everyone and we are the same so it just wasn't going to happen. To our surprise we were gifted tickets. Great view, but the seats are extremely tight together. 💯 Recommended to see a live game!!!

  • Scotiabank is top class

    by TheRon79 on 1/19/25Scotiabank Arena - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

I love going to events/games at Scotiabank Arena. I had a great seat in the lower bowl next to great people. Even though we were rooting for different teams, we all had a great time. They were happy to have fans in their area instead of the regular lower bowl suits who do not cheer or follow the game. The one thing I do hate about Scotiabank Arena is how tight the seats are. When it was built, they could have made just a tiny bit larger to allow the same amount of seats but with a few centimeters wider chairs! Tried the new Hot Stove (thanks for not making it members only), great place for pre and post game drinks! Definitely will go back!

  • Bad game

by Imod tiemax on 1/14/25Scotiabank Arena - TorontoRating: 1 out of 5

1 seats are wayyy too close together 2 seats are wayyy too expensive 3 most of intermission seems amateur hour like at an ohl game no difference. 4 do something about the resale tickets 5 there was homless sitting and begging from go train to arena 6 scalper screaming at the top of his lungs 7 worst game this year cost 500 bucks not worth 100 bucks, even worse hearing marner say he thinks they played well was more aggrivating than anything, they played like poop just admit it and move on. 8 obviously the owners make 50% more profit than tjey should.

  • Worst seats ever

by Craig on 1/14/25Scotiabank Arena - TorontoRating: 1 out of 5

Not only did the Leafs mail it in (3-0 loss) but I paid $485 to sit in the worst seat in Scotiabank Arena: section 101, row 10, seat 1. This seat is obstructed by the section to the right of it, which is about two feet higher, likely due to section 101 being recessed for Leafs games (and aligned with the other section for Raptors games). Half of the ice surface wasn't visible. These seats should really be labelled as obstructed view seats. And I'm 6'1"so it's not because I'm short or was slouching. Awful seats, don't purchase them. There's a reason they're not held by season ticket holders.

  • Worst team ever

by Leaf Hater on 1/14/25Scotiabank Arena - TorontoRating: 1 out of 5

Beer way to expensive..... team was terrible.... A lot of money spent for terrible team.

  • Great Experience for the family

by Adrian Malta on 1/11/25Scotiabank Arena - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Very well organised event with five-star entertainment for all the family and above all safe especially if you have young kids. Definitely worth the money

  • Leafs fan took a Bruins fan to Scotiabank Arena

by Leafs Fan Since Forever on 1/7/25Scotiabank Arena - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

Took my 11-year old son, who is a Bruins fan since birth, to watch the pre-game warmup rinkside. Made a sign to get Marchand’s attention. It worked, but the kid next to my son grabbed the puck first. My Kid was disappointed, and then again after my Leafs defeated his Bruins. Sat in the 310 section. Good view, but tickets were marked up due to demand. Final thought, “went to a hockey game, and a Van Halen concert broke out.” Due to the 6 goals being scored by the home team and their Goal Song is Panama!

  • My First Maple Leafs Game

    by T Nelson on 1/3/25Scotiabank Arena - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

I was in Toronto celebrating the New Year and had the opportunity to get tickets to see the Maple Leafs vs. NY Islanders game on New Year's Eve. It was an afternoon matinee, and it was definitely worth it. I sat in Section 301, which is pretty high up, but the seats were comfortable, and my row neighbors were all cool. All of them were huge Leafs fans. The Scotiabank Arena was clean and easy to navigate, and the staff was very friendly. To top it off, the Leafs won 3-1 to finish 2024. I will be back. Toronto has a new fan. #leafsforever

  • Memories

by Herc on 12/24/24Scotiabank Arena - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

Love always going to the games sometimes i find we are too hard on the leafs but I personally think most of the time seats could be abit cheaper but I think too we are hard on them when they forget how to play or win. But good rating I will give for seating

  • Great time

by Mitch on 12/7/24Scotiabank Arena - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Always a good time at the leafs game. As long as they win and you have a few drinks 🤣
