Such a great pianist and the shiw was fast passed which was great for an Old Fan like me!
I've been wanting to see Tori for at least 20 years and missed her last time she came to the Taft Theater in Cincinnati about 15 years ago, well she finally came back! Her voice sounded fantastic, she can still hit the high notes and produce the growl ala several songs from Scarlet's Walk. My only complaints were around the sound mixing at the Taft - too much drum, not enough piano, and I think her voice was drowned out a little bit too much for my preference. When she did her 2 song solo (no drums/bass) I was mesmerized and wish she would have kept going for another 5 or 6 songs. She played a little over 2 hours which I though was incredible. Good song selection although I wish she would have consulted me ;-) ... was really wanting to hear Winter, Raspberry Swirl, Roosterspur Bridge, and I would have probably passed out if she would play Yes Anastasia (but alas no strings came with her). It was a solid playlist though. Dream fulfilled!
Tori is Tori . Beautiful voice . Lackluster performance very melodramatic and lacking any depth or passion.
The whole show was just magical. The opening act, Companion was so great with their hilarious stories. Their amazing voices and harmonies were just perfect. Tori was in rare form. She was pure radiance. Just an otherworldly experience. I’ll never forget how beautiful this show was.
I've seen Tori in the past but this my daughter's first time seeing her. Theater was wonderful and Tori put on an amazing show as usual.
As always, Tori was amazing. This was my tenth time seeing her, and I think this was the best. Her vocals are perfect, the band is on fire, and her energy is through the roof. 10/10
Great show! Companion came out to meet some of us during the intermission. They have beautiful harmonies <3 Tori sounded sensational and I loved all her facial expressions (:
Tori was amazing. The opening act, Companion was amazing as well. Taft Theatre is beautiful & sounds great, but the seats are too close together from the seat in front of you.
I've been listening to her music for many years but this is the first time that I have been able to see her live. I was impressed to say the least. Besides her raw talent I was was also impressed with the lighting. I don't believe that I have ever seen a performance where the mood of the music was also captivated in the lighting effects. Over all an excellent evening.
Tori never disappoints. She was an incredible performer as always. Companion, her opener, was also amazing. It was such a great show. On top of that, the venue is one of the best in the whole area. I love seeing shows at the Met. I highly recommend paying for parking ahead of time to make your transportation easier if you do not have access to the broad street subway line. The drink lineup is great, and the ushers are world class. Thank you!
Female sexuality, nature of the world, feminism, politics, spirits' existence in environment, religion, meditation of grief and rebirth, these are just some of ideas Tori Amos passed to at her Ocean to Ocean Tour gig. American singer representing alternative rock, electronic music, writing poetic lyrics, added to her philosophical and social views the excellent piano and Hammond organ play. Supported only by bassist and drummer Amos created unforgettable introspective show running through her best songs imagined by a delicate, reaching deep, cautious female mind. "Juarez", "Bouncing off Clouds", "Ocean to Ocean", "Selkie", "Cooling", "Mother Revolution", "Cornflake Girl", "Precious Things", "Tear in Your Hand", colored by a cover of Boston's hit "More than a Feeling", all that was just perfect!
Parking for the event was convenient, right across the street, but it did cost $10. The Kodak Theater had a bar area where you could grab snacks/refreshments. Everything was labeled, sections were easy to find, there were ushers available to help locate exact seats. The show itself was amazing, the lighting and effects were great, the acoustics were great. Tori is always amazing and did NOT fail to deliver a phenominal performance with a good mix of new songs and classics. I'd see this show 100 times over!
She was amazing and moving just and her voice was just as powerful live as when you hear a recording!
Tori Amos gives an amazing performance! I went to this venue to see her for the first time in 1994. She is still going strong 28 years later! She’s my favorite artist and always has been. Wonderful show and so happy to see her again!
Sound quality wasn't that great. I was however sitting at the back of the balcony. I didn't exactly have enough room between my knees and the seat on front of me. When the light show became a bit more active, I had to turn away because it hurt my eyes after I got blasted with them every couple of seconds. I played some video back and it sounded like Tori was sick. Her voice was suffering. I've never seen her before, and am a HUGE fan! I love listening to you Tori....sick or not.
I have seen Tori many times before. Her current tour does not disappoint. Saw both nights in Brooklyn. Love that both shows had a different set list, since she has a deep catalog of beloved songs.
I’ve waited a long time to see the fabulous Tori Amos. The timing never worked in whatever city I was in, work, life etc. She was very good but I’m left a little underwhelmed. The venue wasn’t ideal; a theater built in 1958, reminded me of the theater at my old middle school. The acoustics weren’t very good, and the mix wasn’t great. Tori’s vocals were muddled at times, and the bassist’s licks were too pronounced. I will see her again, even if she can’t hit the high notes anymore, but I’ll look for a different venue.
I waited 15 years for this and she was Absolutely incredible. She is still a top tier performer. 2 pianos, that classic humor and bite, amazing energy, playing hit after hit. She made me cry and then brought me right back up. I didn’t have a voice the next day and it was so worth it. 10/10 would sell my soul to see her again someday.
Amazing safe quick very well organized quick access to thruway
