TOOTSIE ON TOUR
A new comedy musical is coming to Chicago: TOOTSIE.
It's the story of a talented, but difficult-to-work-with actor who will do anything to land the role of a lifetime—including adopting a new persona as Dorothy Michaels.
Starring Tony® nominee Santino Fontana (Cinderella, the film Frozen), this new production features a score by Tony winner David Yazbek (The Band's Visit, The Full Monty), a book by Robert Horn (13, Dame Edna Back with a Vengeance), choreography by Tony nominee Denis Jones (Holiday Inn, Honeymoon in Vegas), and direction by eight-time Tony nominee and Olivier Award winner Scott Ellis (She Loves Me, On The Twentieth Century).
TOOTSIE will play a pre-Broadway engagement at the Cadillac Palace Theatre from September 11- October 14. TOOTSIE goes to Broadway in Spring 2019.
Top to bottom great singing, dancing, acting, writing and too many belly laughs to count. Smart, fun entertainment. We loved it! Just one suggestion. Enhance the final scene. It felt a bit flat because the entire show was so robust and full.
Of all the pre-Broadway shows this year, TOOTSIE is by far the best. Fun for all! It still needs work (pacing and a number for the end), but I laughed a great deal and found myself mesmerized by the story.
Well written and performed and quite funny in spots. Lead actor is great and the supporting cast is amazing.
