  • What Happened?

by ilovereggaemannnnnnn on 7/17/12Hollywood Bowl - HollywoodRating: 2 out of 5

Ziggy Marley was awesome! What happened to Maxi Priest and Freddie McGregor? Not to mention, I love Toots and the Maytals, but Toots could barely stand up let alone sing! I'm just dissapointed. Went with high hopes and was disappointed with what happened.

  • WORST LINEUP EVER

by EmoA on 7/17/12Hollywood Bowl - HollywoodRating: 1 out of 5

Maxi Priest didn't show, something to do with his Visa, the other acts stunk, of course Ziggy Marley was great and saved the show somewhat

It was very disappointing that Maxi Priest wasn't able to make it out. In addition, the line up wasn't that great. The headliner wasn't even up beat enough to end the show with a bang. I did enjoy the show, but was expecting it to be a lot better.

  • Just no sittin' still!

Awesome as always! The energy this guy has is infectious. You just gotta get up and move! Love the way he interacts with the audience.

  • Toots!

by psnowe on 3/28/12State Theatre - PortlandRating: 4 out of 5

Never had seen him in concert before. He got on the stage and captivated the audience immediately. He's not hopping around the stage like a young man, but he sang and played his heart out.

Good show. $7 for 2-ounces of Captain Morgan's is not cool.

  • Toots still has it goin' on!

    by Reggae2 on 3/23/12State Theatre - PortlandRating: 5 out of 5

The show was awesome. Cannot have a bad seat in the State Theatre so any place was great to watch Toots and the Maytals! Their energy, esp. Toots and the chorus girls, was contagious. He played all his classics to the tee and was interactive with the crowd quite a bit. A fantastic show and so glad we went!

  • toots is a monster

by harvin on 3/23/12State Theatre - PortlandRating: 5 out of 5

"the hardest working man in show business," he's been at it for 50 years, and i bet he'll be doing it for another 50. brought to mind james brown, with the tightness of the band, the grooves they set up, and the energy - toots left it all on the stage. you could tell how much he loved what he was doing. at one point, a woman climbed onto the stage, and he shooed away the security and danced with her a while. and at the end of the show, he invited a whole crowd up on stage with him. he clearly did not want to leave. he reminded me of how wonderful reggae can be. i would go see him any time. i hope he felt the love, and will be back.

Toots had a lot of love for the crowd, really ramped it up for the encore. Still can't get the closing jam out of my head!

  • Never saw them

by IslandDoctor on 3/15/12Millikens Reef - Port CanaveralRating: 1 out of 5

This was going to be a great night...... 4 of us for a romantic birthday dinner at Milliken's Reef and then a few hours with one of the GREATS of Reggae music! We had never heard of Milliken's Reef and 2 of the 4 of us flew in from Oklahoma for dinner and a night out. Dinner was amazing. The service, the ambiance and the food in the restaurant was 5-star. The night couldn't have started any better..... Then the wheels came off. Tickets/promotions said the music started at 8pm with one opening act. It turned out to be 3 opening acts and, although they had a very vague (very vague) resemblance to the Ska of Jamaica in the mid 60's......it wasn't. By 10:30pm, our ears couldn't take any more of the music. With no end in sight for the 2nd opening band, we left, very disappointed. Had we known differently, we would have made later dinner reservations and sat out the opening acts. I've seen Toots & The Maytals twice, in much different environments. Milliken's would have been a great place to see them....if we had known ahead of time that we would have to endure the 3 opening acts.

  • Toots and the Maytals were fantastic! Must see!

by Nomwein on 3/15/12Masquerade - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

Toots has still got it! With eight people in the band, the sound was never overpowering or boring. All the hits were played, except for Reggae Got Soul, and the show went on for about an hour and a half. The one thing I regret was the lack of a horn section. If you want to have a great time dancing and singing along, Toots is your guy!

  • Toots is awesome

by tootsfan on 3/12/12Stadium Green Iguana - TampaRating: 4 out of 5

one of the best shows Ive seen in a very long time. Toots sang great and kept everybody moving. His band was the best. I highly recommend seeing Toots

  • Toots and the maytals...amazing!!

    by Markos32937 on 3/10/12Millikens Reef - Port CanaveralRating: 5 out of 5

Never never never miss an opportunity to see these guys if you love reggae !!!! They played every song I wanted to hear and then some, at a beach bar.. Thought I would have to go back to Jamaica to get this!!!

  • Toots was awful

by Lousyshow on 7/29/11Cape Cod Melody Tent - HyannisRating: 1 out of 5

This is the worst musical performance that I have experienced in my 60 years of going to such events. The lead-in group was brash and just produced unintelligible noise. Then Toots and the Maytals came on and did more of the same. No sophisticated Reggae, as promised -- just brash, meaningless loud noise. We walked out after the first 15 minutes, disgusted.

  • Toots still brings the heat!

by Icculus760 on 7/26/11Cape Cod Melody Tent - HyannisRating: 5 out of 5

If you know who Toots is, you don't need to read my review to know you should go see him live. Dude still drops a hot show after all these years

  • Toots still rocks it!

by KristinMP on 7/26/11South Shore Music Circus - CohassetRating: 5 out of 5

Great band, so much energy and they really know how to get the crowd amped! Everyone was signing along to the songs. The back up singers were also amazing, wonderful movement! Great venue as well, open air tent, benches outside to relax before the show starts. They had a water sprayer set-up since it was so hot. Only complaint would be that at 9:30ish we went to get more beer, and the vending places were closed.

  • Entrain & Toots & the Maytells

by ManAon on 7/24/11South Shore Music Circus - CohassetRating: 2 out of 5

The show started promptly at 8:00PM at South Shore Music Circus Cohasett MA. Entrain was playing. The evening was really hot, but Entrain was even hotter!! The singer, a fellow somewhat like Paul Simon, was really intro the music. The beat was a variety of jazz , rock and roll and reggae. The numbers of drums and kinds of drums and sounds of drums was outstanding. The drumming just reverberated in my body. Following their set was a twenty-five minute break. It was very hot in the tent so stepping out felt good and a quick run through the spray, had a cooling effect. Then came the next set. First a random woman sang, but the heavy sound of the instruments kind of drowned her out. It turned out she was part of Toots etc. Most people were standing during the music but overall after twenty-five minutes I was ready to go. While trying to do an exciting number on Higher,, Higher, I felt we were watching a corpse perform. Maybe after all of these years, repeating and repeating the same songs, became as boring for them as it was for me..

  • Toots Rocks!!

by catstu on 7/24/11South Shore Music Circus - CohassetRating: 5 out of 5

First time to South Shore Music Circus and I really enjoyed this small and intimate venue. Toots rocked the house down as usual!! I've seen Toots and the Maytals here in NH, MA, and many times in Jamaica. Just wished I hadn't broke a rib only a few days before....I was literally the only person not up and dancing...bummer! Jah Bless Toots!

  • Toots rocked!
