Tool have defied conventions and classification through their 30-plus-year exploration of progressive rock and unorthodox visual expression at live shows. Forming in Los Angeles in 1990, the original quartet of Maynard James Keenan, Adam Jones, Danny Carey and Paul D'Amour showed relatively straightforward traces of heavy metal on initial offerings like 1992’s Opiate EP and their 1993 debut album Undertow. After recruiting bassist Justin Chancellor, the band reached major mainstream success with their sophomore album Ænima (1996), which debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 and netted the band’s first Grammy for Best Metal Performance for the title track. Tool’s notoriety only rose as the band pushed further into more esoteric material with 2001’s Lateralus, which kicked off a streak of three No. 1 debuts on the Billboard 200 through 2019’s Fear Inoculum. Within that span, Tool has also logged two Hot 100 singles, two additional Grammy awards and several multi-year headlining festival spots at Coachella, Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo and more.

I am a huge fan and was quite disappointed after last nights show. There were too many just long instumental music breaks with nothing going on. The sound was also off and I could not understand what he was saying or singing. Plus he stayed on this little stage next to the drummer and there were speakers behind him. So with him all dressed in black at the begining, I couldn't even see him for the longest time! I kept hearing his voice but had no idea where it was goming from till he moved a little bit away from the speaker and then I saw him. I have loved TOOL forever and will still be a fan just don't think I will rush out and buy tickets next time.
Not the best Tool show I've seen. The acoustics at the venue were terrible and Maynard just didn't seem into the show at all. They took several breaks during the hour and forty minutes they played and didn't even come out for an encore. It's still Tool and they did play some good songs, it just didn't measure up to other shows they have put on.
I really enjoyed this concert. It was the first time that I have seen these guys at the energy solutions arena but in all I have seen them 5 times. These guys rocked. The opening band was tweak bird. They were a two man band and they rocked it as well. Thank you to tool for so many great years of mind Ltering music. Than you thank you thank you
i've been to plenty of tool concerts in the past. normally the opening band is just okay, but this one Tweak Bird was horrible. i couldn't even tell where their songs started or stopped. and tool was not on long enough. they started and nine and were done by 10:41. and the song selection was terrible, it was all of their longest songs, which were made even longer by adding long drug out nonsensical alien sounds.
This was the second time I've seen tool live and once again, they did not disappoint. The music was great, the lasers and pictures were cool and the voice...unbelievable! I would recommend this group to anyone!!!!
Tool was great when they were playing---short set of 11/2 hours filled with alot of instrumental playing as if they wer biding thier time. This is not a great arena acoustically and from where I sat I was unable to hear maynard's vocals. They id play a song form every album but the EP so it wa a nice diverse set---just wish it was longer with less filler.
Tool was awesome. The light show was unforgettable. The crowd was great and the venue was good. But no matter where Tool plays, they always freakin' rock!!!!
Tool was awesome as usual, but the set was quite short ( We counted around 8 songs) and no encore (lame). I've seen Tool each time they've rolled through and this was by far the worst show I've seen
This is the 4th time I have enjoyed the Tool concert experience. The background screen and lazer light show was fantastic. Good mix of songs chosen for the show. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars, is that I wanted to hear them play longer. Seams like all their shows I have seen, last around 1 1/2 hours of music. With all their great songs, you know they could play well over 2 hours, but never seam to do. Great concert and music experience. If you have never experienced a Tool concert, I highly recommed you check it out. You will not be disappointed. :)
They had some really intense viuals. And some new takes on old favorites including Flood. No encore, that was disappointing, but still an amazing and unforgettable experience.
Once again I was entertained! Tool is an amazing band to see live.
Tool was good as usual. The light show and solos were amazing. However the acoustics and sound quality of the vocals at energy solutions arena made it hard to hear Maynard over the drums and guitar. Which is a shame since his lyrics are so critical for any Tool fan to enjoy their songs. I love this band and have seen them many times and will see them again I'm sure.
Granted it's been some time since the last concert attended but my anticipation was relieved when Tool took the stage. The first band was ok, but energy level left people with a question of what to expect next. When Tool came on, the real show kicked off and they didn't disappoint in the main event. Great songs, solos and visuals. No encore though, was it too late on a Sunday in Salt Lake, really? B-
I have seen Tool three times now and they are the absolute best band ever. At a Tool concert, every seat in the arena is the best seat!!!
amazing set not near long enough though, but totally worth it.
The show was good, but too darn short. I'm spoiled by Nine Inch Nails and 2 and a half to three hour shows, but still, this was lucky to have made it to an hour and a half, and that's giving them credit for the ten to fifteen minute break when they all exited the stage and left the music rumbling the arena while they were taking a break. I also was surprised by the lack of an encore, but maybe that's something they don't do. On top of that, Maynard never once got onto the main part of the stage and into the light, but maybe that's the norm for him. He stayed back on the drum riser platform, in the dark, which did make a sweet silhouette against the video background, but I thought sooner or later he would come out onto the big vacant center of the stage. It was a good show, some amazing music, but an awful lot of my time and money spent for such a short offering of entertainment.
I've wanted to see TOOL live for a number of years and the Salt Lake Venue was the perfect fit! The facility was top notch, staff friendly, and the band was outstanding. The show ROCKED! We left and kept commenting that if the show had continued for another four hours, we wouldn't have been phased. One of the best hard rock bands of all time!
Tool was amazing, as always. This is my third time seeing them in concert. I'm a huge fan, love the band and they sound fantastic live. My only complaint was that there was no encore. When they were done, the lights came on and that was it, everybody out. I will definitely see them again when they come through though.
The Concert ended to abruptly with no encore with None of there most famous songs being performed Maynard disappeared never to be seen or heard from again. What happened did someone Drop the ball or did we have to shut down early because, We are in Utah
