Tool have defied conventions and classification through their 30-plus-year exploration of progressive rock and unorthodox visual expression at live shows. Forming in Los Angeles in 1990, the original quartet of Maynard James Keenan, Adam Jones, Danny Carey and Paul D'Amour showed relatively straightforward traces of heavy metal on initial offerings like 1992’s Opiate EP and their 1993 debut album Undertow. After recruiting bassist Justin Chancellor, the band reached major mainstream success with their sophomore album Ænima (1996), which debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 and netted the band’s first Grammy for Best Metal Performance for the title track. Tool’s notoriety only rose as the band pushed further into more esoteric material with 2001’s Lateralus, which kicked off a streak of three No. 1 debuts on the Billboard 200 through 2019’s Fear Inoculum. Within that span, Tool has also logged two Hot 100 singles, two additional Grammy awards and several multi-year headlining festival spots at Coachella, Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo and more.

Tool headed out on the fall leg of their North American tour in October 2023. After kicking off at the Budweiser Events Center in Loveland, Colorado, the tour covered much of North America through November. The band also played more dates in 2024, beginning on January 10 at the CFG Bank Arena in Baltimore, Maryland, and wrapping on February 18 in Las Vegas at T-Mobile Arena.

First time attending an event in Phoenix. We were able to park a few blocks away for a good price. Getting in and out of the venue was easy. We had last minute plans and literally sat in the back of the venue with our backs against the wall. Sound was good except for a few pieces of the building vibrating. Tool sounded great. Fantastic light show.
Visual experience was off the charts but the sound was off. Could only hear about 25% of the vocals. Still enjoyed the show but could’ve been quite a bit better. Venue and staff was great!
Tool sounds amazing and has great visuals, very immersive experience. However their setlist is just not good. I've seen them several times and this is their standard operation procedure. If they would play more hits and better songs they could be one of the best live bands in the world, but they are holding themselves back and doing a disservice to their fiercely loyal fanbase.
I now believe that metal concerts are not meant for hockey arenas. The band was great, the show was awesome. The sound was unbalanced; vocals got lost and there was massive reverb from the guitar. Plus it's really hard to get into the music with no elbow space and almost vertical drops, plus standing would be totally rude to anyone sitting up to 4 rows behind you. I'm glad I finally got to see TOOL, but I feel it could've been a better experience at a different venue.
First, the concert was amazing. Tool is incredible live... from the music, to the visuals, and the overall performance. But I also have to give two thumbs up to the Footprint Center. It was our first time there and we've lived all over the country and been to too many venues to count. The parking was simple with the garage directly across the street. We got there 2 hours before the show and had dinner at a pub just a couple blocks walk away. The Desmond was a great little place, but there were a TON of other options. The arena itself was smoothly run, had nice facilities, plenty of drink/food options, and above all, the seats were cushioned and comfortable. Getting through security was fast and easy. Overall a definite 5 star event and performance.
The visuals, sound quality, maynard's voice, laser show. Just amazing! They literally sound just like they do in the studio. Will absolutely go again next time they tour.
I have heard that they put on a great show from friends that had seen them in the past. I just saw them for the first time. All it takes is once to become a fan for life. The visual aspects of the performance blended so well with the music and together created a mentally cohesive input for all of the senses. I will be back for certain. Well done TOOL!
It's Tool, you know it was amazing. They killed it Friday and Saturday.
Everyone at the footprint center in Phoenix helped to make my show much better I'm handicapped and they went above and beyond to make my show the best tool was excellent as always and I thank everyone involved this was probably my last show due to my handicap thank you all especially to tool thank for the memories your biggest fan laz
Once again. Tool elevates it to the next level. The Mastery displayed from each member of the band brings one of the most unique sounds in music. I’ve seen bands from The Rolling Stones to Duran Duran, Cheap Trick to Billy Idol. I cannot remember a band deliver such an explosive performance! I would say TOOL is one of the best Rock bands in music, past and present!
Put your phones away people!!! Enjoy life, enjoy the trip. If you can't stop looking at your phone, stay home!
Experience was nothing but easy. Great venue, super fast and super convenient.
Top tier concert experience. First time ever seeing them and it was everything I could have hoped for.
Great to greatest concert. High recommend. Will see again !!!
Amazing show. Sound, lights and videos made it memorable
Such a great show! They jam out in every sense and the visuals and graphics were amazing
I saw them at the FootPrint Center Saturday night. They were awesome!! I didn’t want to pay the high resale price in LA. I’ve been a long time fan and this is my first time seeing them. They were awesome and the visuals were awesome. I can’t describe the experience other than I was in the moment. There was a strict no video / photo rule and it was enforced. I thought it was weird. But MJ said just put the phones be present it’s just two hours, you can take pics at the last song. But honestly this is the first time that i truly enjoyed the experience and appreciated the performance. I will start doing that at other shows. I was truly there and the music just took me somewhere else. All of them are fantastic musicians but honestly Danny Carey is something out of this world. The guy is 62 years old and can play the drums hard and fast. If you are on the fence about seeing them just buy the tickets. It’s an experience you will not forget - I know I won’t. I was disappointed they didn’t play Jambi but they played The Grudge and they performed it perfect and on point with everything. CC Trip showcases Carey’s drumming so I’m glad I got to witness him playing. Just GO!
Any fan should see Tool at least once. Visually reminiscent of a Pink Floyd concert, musically unchallenged. Great band, great show!
Sat very far away in Rochester New York and had an amazing experience. But row 7 in pheonix? Even better.
