About

Tool have defied conventions and classification through their 30-plus-year exploration of progressive rock and unorthodox visual expression at live shows. Forming in Los Angeles in 1990, the original quartet of Maynard James Keenan, Adam Jones, Danny Carey and Paul D'Amour showed relatively straightforward traces of heavy metal on initial offerings like 1992’s Opiate EP and their 1993 debut album Undertow. After recruiting bassist Justin Chancellor, the band reached major mainstream success with their sophomore album Ænima (1996), which debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 and netted the band’s first Grammy for Best Metal Performance for the title track. Tool’s notoriety only rose as the band pushed further into more esoteric material with 2001’s Lateralus, which kicked off a streak of three No. 1 debuts on the Billboard 200 through 2019’s Fear Inoculum. Within that span, Tool has also logged two Hot 100 singles, two additional Grammy awards and several multi-year headlining festival spots at Coachella, Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo and more.

    Tight as can be

by Chilifries on 2/15/24Save Mart Center - Fresno

Pure magnificence! These guys get better every time I see them. Since the first time in 92 in that small club in San Bernadino. Every song played was brilliant and the show was amazing. The crowd was awesome too.

    To loud

by Anna Leigh on 2/15/24Save Mart Center - Fresno

Tool is my favorite band, however his heart wasn’t in it, I don’t know maybe he just doesn’t like Fresno. The sound was off, vocals were distorted more than the band makes them. The volume was near deafening. Otherwise the display/light show was awesome, song selection wasn’t what I expected, they pulled out some beloved classics. Will I see them again absolutely, will I see them in Fresno probably not, even though it’s my hometown.

Music purists will be in for a treat!

by FioriChild on 2/15/24Save Mart Center - Fresno

Don’t let this heavy metal genre of music dissuade you from a Tool concert…if you at all appreciate music in a classical sense, you will be blown away by the genius of their music. They are uber talented, highly creative and technical musicians. What a TREAT to experience them live. The performance and visual effects were outstanding.

    Truly an Experience

by Dr.C on 2/15/24Save Mart Center - Fresno

The full Tool experience is a performance like no other. Entrancing video, excellent musicianship, lasers, and even some tactile effects enhance the already powerful event. Even though the concert was very expensive, it was worthwhile to get to enjoy this as a once-in-a-lifetime treat! Know that the band does not allow recording or photography and has additional event staff patrolling the crowd.

    Night 1 < Night 2

by DrSammy on 2/15/24Footprint Center - Phoenix

Went both nights and didn’t disappoint. What each member does is amazing even though I enjoy AJ the most. These guys are getting older but can still hang. Saw them all 5x in Phoenix for FI tour and night 2 was top 2 imo.

    A Dive Into the Soul

by Aaron on 2/15/24Save Mart Center - Fresno

11/10 on the show. The visuals were top notch and the bind was completely on point. How many bands can play full live like that for so long? Not many that’s for sure.

Tool is pure art / Behold the Elder

by Scott Tompkins on 2/15/24Save Mart Center - Fresno

Tool is so interesting on all levels. The fact that they brought out Elder to open proves what nice guys they are. Big bands used to help out smaller bands. Tool has always done that. The Fresno CA show was incredible. Tool delivered art, music, beauty and a cell phone free concert expirence. Elder weaves intricate melodies with crushing grooves. What a expirence.

    Last tool show I’ll see

by Phil on 2/15/24Save Mart Center - Fresno

Show was ok. Songs played weren’t their best. Security constantly shined flashlights in our eyes to see if we were recording which sucked.

    TOOL Rocked It

by Zimmerman on 2/15/24Save Mart Center - Fresno

TOOL rocked the show. They sounded great! Newer mix of the setlist. I think a lot of us might have enjoyed a couple more of the older hits like Aenema, Sober, and Schism. We did get Pneuma and Stinkfist, and they sounded great! TOOL always provides a unique experience.

It was a great show especially since no one was blocking my view by trying to take pictures the whole concert. Thank you Maynard.

    Boring experience

by Ramo on 2/15/24Footprint Center - Phoenix

It’s hard to fault them, they’re great musicians and Maynard’s voice is still great, but somehow the whole show ended up being a boring experience, there was nothing exciting about it!
