The stage name Too Short is a bit of an oxymoron for a rapper who launched his career in the early 1980s and continues to impress audiences with songs like "The Ghetto" and "Blow the Whistle." One of the major pioneers of West Coast rap, Too Short has maintained a productive career for over three decades. The legendary emcee performs infrequently, yet tickets to his shows are a hot commodity as fans line up to hear his extensive musical works that span 19 albums, 10 of which have earned gold or platinum status. No tour has been announced for 2014, although Too Short is expected to perform a concert or two over the course of the year. Too Short re-emerged in 2006 with "Blow the Whistle," peaking at No. 14 on the Billboard 200, his highest selling and most critically acclaimed album in years. He followed up with "Get Off The Stage" (2007), "Still Blowin'" (2010) and "No Trespassing" (2012). Along with "Still Blowin'" and "No Trespassing," Too Short has performed a variety of guest tracks for the likes of Snoop Dogg, Daz Dillinger, 50 Cent, Lil' Jon, Scarface and Wiz Khalifia. He is also featured on Lady Gaga's track "Jewels and Drugs" alongside T.I. and Twista.
Too Short was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay area and started performing in the early '80s with friend Freddy B. He released his first studio album, "Born to Mack," in 1987. Too Short helped build the West Coast scene and was instrumental in the work of fellow California rappers Tupac Shakur and Snoop Dogg. He also collaborated with The Notorious B.I.G. and Scarface. Too Short continued to build his rap empire throughout the 1990s and 2000s and was honored by VH1 as a Hip-Hop Legend.

It would have been nice to know that their were many many artist that came on before Too Short. Anything from one guy rapping up to 4 people. The music was good but probably wouldn’t have gone if I knew he was only playing for 30 min. He performed well. The other disappointment is it seemed he targeted a very intoxicated girl to come up on stage & hang out with him. Maybe just or for the course.
It was a decent first concert experience. Overall too short was great and was everything I imaged his show to be. Only issue was the drunk girls and people trying to crowd us. Some kept on pushing me and my date just to get infront of us. His show is amazing overall. I don’t regret going just drunk girls kinda got on my nerves.
First, let me start off by saying the lineup for the show was excellent, no complaints. Secondly, the sound system was HORRIBLE, could not hear the acts clearly and when you have your hype man shouting in the mic it made it much worse. The DJ and the host between the acts sound system was also TERRIBLE!! The best part was MACK 10 set, his sound was EXCELLENT(NO HYPE MAN), next was TOO SHORT, WC and finally SUGA FREE, honorable mention goes to 2nd II NONE. Promoters next time spend a little extra money on some quality sound system or make sure the venue have qualified sound engineers, cause someone dropped the ball on this one!!
It was awesome . Plus we got our seats upgraded, the venue was huge and nice and clean some people were pleasant and helpful. Food was way to expensive for a simple sand which
I would have given it a 5 star but the long beach theater really needs to work on the sound quality. We could not understand what was being said due to the sound quality at times. Aside from that the line up at the concert was awesome and my wife and I had a awesome time.
The show did not start on time and all the performers did not perform. This was not what I expected for the price of my tickets. I would have felt better if they would have gave notice and had it for another time.
I just can’t believe they promoted too short and he didn’t even perform which was the whole purpose for us going to began with. I think we should’ve been given a choice before entering the concert and letting us know that Too Short wasn’t gonna be there instead of having us sit waiting for him to come out knowing he wasn’t coming out!
Well i was very disappointed because some of the artists wasnt there n at least yall could've gave us a heads up n the time the artist be on stage not long enough n between acts are too long
Bun B didn't show and on top of that they made Uncle Luke cut his performance off and Too Short didn't show up his was the main headliner
The overall concert was not good at all. I expected more.
It was awful! Trina had a wardrobe malfunction. Luke Skywalker couldn’t remember what city he was in and the entire time he was on the stage, he never completed one song. Every song he started, after about 2 minutes, he said “DJ...cut it off.” Too Short didn’t even SHOW UP and he was the headliner of the show. IT WAS TERRIBLE!!!!!!!
Some of the artists didn’t even show up to the concert. Luke’s set was cut short. Like they literally turned off his music so that he could not continue to perform. And there was a dj who got more stage time than the actual headliners. I know it’s not going to happen but I’m looking for some change back on my tickets. Won’t be doing this again.
Did not see Too Short. Either he wasn't there or couldn't come out because the show was supposed to be over at midnight and he didn't have time to come out. Waiting 50 min on Trina may have caused. My gut tells me he wasn't there. After waiting on Trina for 50 min she had the audacity and nerve to lip-sink most of her performance, and she even screwed that up. Luke needs to retire ASAP. He talked 99% of the time. I didn't pay to see a lecture. I was VERY happy when they cut the sound off so he could leave the stage. HE SHOULD BE EMBARRASSED!! Juvenile's performance was very good. The sound was just turned up TOOOOO loud. Goody Mob OK, again sound was too loud. DJ Quik, EXCELLENT!! Great performance! The sound was PERFECT. Don't know why the volume was turned up after his performance. It ruined the show for me, other than Trina's and Luke's performance. I wouldn't go see them if I was paid to. As for Too Short, this is not the 1st time he didn't show for a Memphis concert. Back in the day he was supposed to give a show at The Martini Room and didn't show up. His Memphis fan's are very disappointed IN HIM!! And it's obvious he doesn't think enough of us to grace us with his presence. So as for THIS fan that's the last time I will pay to see him. He's not dependable.
I was so excited about this concert but it was the most horrible event I ever went to. The musicians sound was off, Uncle Luke performance was cut short just when everybody was getting into it, and no one never mentioned Too Short was not going to be there. I was like they could of left Uncle Luke on longer. Dont get me wrong I did like Juvenile performance, which I always do. I just wished the whole event was put together WAY better than it was.
I was disappointed that Too Short didn't show up. I didn't like the fact that uncle Luke didn't have enough time because it took Trina over an hour to get ready therefore it ran into his time. Overall the show was printed good I really enjoyed Juvenile.
Most of the show was good but a few of the people mentioned including Too Short did not perform. The last unmentioned performance by Cee Lo Green could have stayed home.
Great experience! Thanks I really enjoy my self, can’t wait til y’all have another show
The time in between the prefomers was horrible, Luke didnt sing know of his own songs and Trina was good minus the wardrobe problems, Juvenile was great!
The shows had too much delay time between them Plus the main attraction "Too Short" was a no show Doubt if i ever attend one of those legend shows again
