About

The Tony the Tiger Sun Bowl is an annual college football game held in El Paso, Texas. Established in 1935, the first Sun Bowl was played between two Texas high school teams, but moved to a collegiate-level matchup the following year. In 2025, the Tony the Tiger Sun Bowl game will kick off on December 31 at Sun Bowl Stadium in El Paso, Texas.

  • Sun Bowl Stadium Needs an Upgrade

by JMagColorado on 1/2/11Sun Bowl Stadium - El PasoRating: 5 out of 5

Loved the setting with the stadium nestled between the various rock outcroppings. But inside it was very cave-like. Restroom facilities were primitive and insufficient for the sold-out crowd. They were selling beer at the game, and you know how fast it recycles! Portapotties were everywhere but totally insufficient for the crowd so lines were ridicuoulusly long. No game broadcast while you were waiting which was another frustration. Vendors at the concessions were working hard but unprepared for the crowd. Hot chocolate wasn't hot, and they ran out of lids to compound the problem.

It was fantastic. Game was great and seats were just right with a great view of the game

This is a great venue to watch football and the organizers did a great job on entry, entertainment, delivering tickets timely, security, fireworks, etc. The only criticism I have is that the bathroom facilities are inadequate when an event is sold out as the Notre Dame/Miami game was. There were numerous portapotties to augment the restroom facilities but the wait in line was over 20 minutes.

Other than drunk Notre Dame fans and the sneaking in of alcohol, seeing two young people in handcuffs and the cold weather we enjoyed the WIN!

It was tremendous sell out, over crowded, cold, had fun with other people. It was good play for the Notre Dame players and the band was fabulous the way they played their song.

Even though it was freezing, it was one of the most memorable games ever!!!

  • by Anonymous on 1/2/11Sun Bowl Stadium - El PasoRating: 1 out of 5

Pros: The game was fantastic! Cons: The preparation for the event seemed nonexistent. Parking was "find it on your own". Road construction throughout the areas surrounding the stadium eliminating a lot of parking space. Police force was not visible. Crowd control was lax to say the least. Getting into the stadium was a nightmare with people pushing, yelling, and cutting line with no security or police. Alcohol consumption was very high, both in the stadium and at tailgate parties.

  • Sun Bowl was excellant

by Fida on 1/2/11Sun Bowl Stadium - El PasoRating: 5 out of 5

Norte Dame vs Miami game at the Sun Bowl was excellant. Unsually cold for El Paso but perfect football weather. ND was was awesome. The fanfest was fun. Will attend again!

Might not have been the "SUN" bowl, but sure was the "FUN" bowl..Had great fun, nice cold weather for football in El Paso. People were great, had a great time. The Golden Knights flew in with each teams flag and the game ball. was great.Thanks.

  • Sun Bowl 2010

by Notredamefan76 on 1/2/11Sun Bowl Stadium - El PasoRating: 5 out of 5

Used the handicapped parking. Travel from lot to stadium was smooth and efficient. Travel into stadium was easy and efficient. Only negative, several tables/concessions set up in front of line to restroom, so made handicap accessibility very difficult.

by Irish74 on 1/2/11Sun Bowl Stadium - El PasoRating: 5 out of 5

Freezing cold couldn't stop the good times!! Friendly environment, intimate venue, and great pre game festivities with the Army skydivers. The only thing I would recommend is better selection at the concession stands especially if cold weather again(coffee, chili, etc. )

  • Sun Bowl

by ShebaMom on 1/2/11Sun Bowl Stadium - El PasoRating: 5 out of 5

Seats were excellent. Guaranteed parking paid in advance was convenient. Weather was cold but out of anyone's control. University of Miami players played terrible, probably cold...Intend on attending again next year!

  • ND did not disappoint

by Irishforever47 on 1/2/11Sun Bowl Stadium - El PasoRating: 4 out of 5

Experiencing ND game in Sun Bowl was great... Have been following ND football for 40+ years and this was the third ND game I have been able to attend. Weather was pure "football weather" and did in the Hurricanes from So. Florida. Tommy Rees, Michael Floyd and the Irish defense did not disappoint. Looking forward to trying to get to more ND football games in the near future.

  • Freezing but Amazing

by Akdreamer on 1/2/11Sun Bowl Stadium - El PasoRating: 5 out of 5

Overall the game was great! Our seats were awesome. I honestly don't think that there is a bad seat in the stadium. We will definitely be going again next year.
