About

Tony Bennett, born Anthony Dominick Benedetto in Queens, New York in 1926, is one of the most popular crooners in history, having sold over 50 million records worldwide and won 17 Grammy Awards, including the Lifetime Achievement Award in 2001. He started singing at an early age and fought in Europe during WWII before returning stateside. Bennett played concerts with Bob Hope in 1949 and released two No. 1 singles in 1951, Because of You and Cold, Cold Heart. He put out fourteen albums between 1951 and 1961, as well as the 1953 single Rags to Riches that reached No. 1, before the release of his platinum selling 1962 album I Left My Heart in San Francisco. A string of commercially unsuccessful albums in the late 1960s and 1970s followed during the rise of rock and roll, but Bennett returned to form with The Art of Excellence in 1986, and saw a reintroduction of his musical style to younger generations in the 1990s. He released the gold albums Perfectly Frank in 1992 and Steppin’ Out in 1993, and won the Grammy Awards for Album of the Year and Best Traditional Pop Vocal Performance with 1994’s MTV Unplugged: Tony Bennett, selling over one million copies. 1996’s Duets: An American Classic and 2011’s Duets II also became platinum selling successes. With no signs of slowing down, Bennett continues to record and tour, playing for ticket holders in the U.S. throughout 2013 and 2014.

    Incredible

by Matias Chiarini on 8/6/21Radio City Music Hall - New York

This was one of the kindest moments that I’ve ever witnessed. The way gaga supported Tony on his notable health challenges was so heartbreaking, so warm and compassionate. They both are pure chemistry. Definitely that night they wrote history 💖

    YOLO

by Senior Monster on 8/6/21Radio City Music Hall - New York

To witness history, that is what it was like to be with Gaga and Tony Bennett at Radio City. Worth every penny to fly in, be in NYC, attend his Birthday event Aug. 3. I am grateful for the experience. Iconic…Gaga, Bennett, Radio City Music Hall. Production quality with both Gaga’s and Bennett’s musical directors was superb. Brian Newman Quintet accompanying Gaga perfect. Security and sense of safety first class. Great control of entrance and exit. It was seeing NYC back open and ready to welcome the world again. Can’t wait for future performances. Carry on💥🌟

    Unforgettable performance!

by e. a.Pilates mom on 8/6/21Radio City Music Hall - New York

We expected a lot from Tony and Gaga and they gave us so much more! From the songs, to the fabulous set, the amazing costumes and the experience of a wonderful orchestra, this performance had it all and then some! It was so touching to see the respect and love Gaga has for Mr. Bennett and it was fun to see a personal side of Gaga portrayed through her banter with the audience. Tony can still croon and entertain an audience and I had tears in my eyes as he belted out some of his most famous songs. This was entertainment at its best and my family enjoyed a night we will always remember.

    Unforgettable evening

by e. a.Pilates mom on 8/6/21Radio City Music Hall - New York

This show was a once in a lifetime experience. We expected great music from Tony and Gaga and they, along with the orchestra, surely delivered. The set was outstanding, the costumes were over the top and the audience got to see a personal, funny side of Gaga and her respect and love for Mr. Bennett. At 95 Tony can still croon and entertain an audience and I had tears in my eyes listening to him sing. Thank you to whomever put this performance together because it gave my family a beautiful night of music.

    "A" FOR EFFORT

by MBS on 3/14/20Hackensack Meridian Health Theatre at the Count Basie Center - Red Bank

Like seeing Mt Rushmore- should be seen at least once. His daughter was first, and sang about 5 songs. She was fine, nothing wrong, but could see comparable performers at any lounge in any casino. As for Tony Bennet, when he walked on stage, he fell. Thought it was perhaps part of the act. It wasn't. It took about 3 people to help him to his feet. He had a bad cold, and was constantly wiping his nose. He sneezed in the middle of a song. He looked very frail, and leaned on the piano during most of the performance. There was no commentary or anecdotes at all from him. Now for the positive: His voice was a bit weak, but he hit most of the notes. Made attempts to snap his fingers, and so on, and he tried. He tried. The audience loved him! They were on their feet often, yelling, "I love you, Tony, " with barely a reaction from him. I so admire and respect his effort. What a trooper! He's certainly not doing it for the money. But it's time for him to retire and rest on his considerable laurels. So glad I got to see Mount Rushmore!

    Unbelievable

by VBS 7 on 3/14/20Hackensack Meridian Health Theatre at the Count Basie Center - Red Bank

Unbelievable performance. Tony is a treasure. At 93 years old he doesn’t miss a beat, a note or the words to the songs. God bless him and hope he sees many more performances.

    A legend BUT

by Myrrh on 3/14/20Hackensack Meridian Health Theatre at the Count Basie Center - Red Bank

Tony defined American popular music for decades, and I am a big fan. But at 93, don’t expect much. He missed as many notes as he hit, had no audience interaction, lost his place in several songs, and sang only 1 minute or so of many of the songs. The fact that at 93 he can still perform at all, and provide a little of his signature sound is, in itself, amazing. But as a performance, objectively, it was not worth the money. I prefer to remember the Tony Bennett of yore, not this performance. One other note: his quartet saved the day— sensational musicians who provided a musical security blanket for Tony and enabled him to at least come close to appearing to be in control.

by LuAnne on 3/14/20Hackensack Meridian Health Theatre at the Count Basie Center - Red Bank

I am so glad my husband and I had the chance to appreciate in person the art of Tony Bennett. It is remarkable, that at his age, he can still use his voice to give emotion and tone in song. Thank you Tony.

    Seeing Is Believing

by Marbury on 2/18/20Atlanta Symphony Hall - Atlanta

I've always liked some of his songs, but his and Sinatra's genre of music isn't high on my list. I went to the concert largely because a friend visiting for the weekend has long been a big Tony Bennett fan. I also was simply curious to see how well his voice had held up, and I was expecting from a 93(?)-year-old something closer to rhythmic talking than singing. I was floored to hear in person how very good he still sounds. I'm sure hard work must be a big part of the reason that he can still sing so well, but he also must have natural gifts that are very, very rare. Plus his obvious love for his songs and performing them must make a difference too. It was a concert well worth seeing and genuinely uplifting. His daughter opened for him. She has a very nice voice, but she can't begin to match the feeling that he puts into all his songs.

    Icon!

by TJ on 2/17/20Atlanta Symphony Hall - Atlanta

The man exceeded expectations...MORE than exceeded expectations! He is 93. After maybe a 45 second slow start he was on! 90 minutes later he didn't want to leave the stage. It was a privilege to see him perform.

    Valentine’s Day treat

by Wine guy Tom on 2/17/20Atlanta Symphony Hall - Atlanta

What can I say? I enjoy the old crooners and wanted to see Tony Bennett while I still had the chance. I hoped he still had it, being 93. I was completely blown away, as was my girlfriend. He didn’t disappoint. I feel so lucky to have seen him and shared It with someone that made the songs and experience mean that much more. Any seat is a good seat

    Inspiring!

by JB on 2/17/20Atlanta Symphony Hall - Atlanta

Tony Bennett still has what it takes! I could not believe some of the long notes the 93 year old could hold. And it was quite clear that he loves the audience and is rightfully proud that he is still entertaining after all these years. So grateful I got to see this living legend.
