About

Tony Bennett, born Anthony Dominick Benedetto in Queens, New York in 1926, is one of the most popular crooners in history, having sold over 50 million records worldwide and won 17 Grammy Awards, including the Lifetime Achievement Award in 2001. He started singing at an early age and fought in Europe during WWII before returning stateside. Bennett played concerts with Bob Hope in 1949 and released two No. 1 singles in 1951, Because of You and Cold, Cold Heart. He put out fourteen albums between 1951 and 1961, as well as the 1953 single Rags to Riches that reached No. 1, before the release of his platinum selling 1962 album I Left My Heart in San Francisco. A string of commercially unsuccessful albums in the late 1960s and 1970s followed during the rise of rock and roll, but Bennett returned to form with The Art of Excellence in 1986, and saw a reintroduction of his musical style to younger generations in the 1990s. He released the gold albums Perfectly Frank in 1992 and Steppin’ Out in 1993, and won the Grammy Awards for Album of the Year and Best Traditional Pop Vocal Performance with 1994’s MTV Unplugged: Tony Bennett, selling over one million copies. 1996’s Duets: An American Classic and 2011’s Duets II also became platinum selling successes. With no signs of slowing down, Bennett continues to record and tour, playing for ticket holders in the U.S. throughout 2013 and 2014.

    Gaga and Tony reintroduce Jazz

by Treblok on 8/8/21Radio City Music Hall - New York

Tony and Gaga at their best with a orchestra with Jazz band in front. Gaga started the show and I felt reminiscent to a Dean Martin show, but with Gaga’s amazing vocals. She’s the the MC. Tony sand his greats hits and of course played closed with “I left my heart in San Francisco” The duets were amazing too. Can’t wait to see the TV cut.

    Once in a lifetime experience

by Aaron on 8/8/21Radio City Music Hall - New York

Only Gaga could give the world the deserving send off Tony Bennett deserves. Seeing their friendship blossom and grow through the years have not only been entertaining, but also inspiring. We can rest assured that the sounds of the great American songbook will never be lost in the hands of Gaga. The two of them both sounded immaculate. I was blessed with seeing them before during their Cheek To Cheek tour, and could have never missed the opportunity to see them one last time. Gaga’s vocals were out of this world; matched with precisely timed outfit changes, crowd interaction, and stage energy she portrays, it was classic “Jazz Gaga”. Tony, of course, was such a charm. I’ll be honest, I was worried due to his debilitating condition, I wasn’t sure how great he would be. Man did he prove me wrong. Yes his songs were short and to the point, but he remained in control and in the moment. His voice, talent, and legacy will last lifetimes.

    A Magical Night!

by Littleone on 8/8/21Radio City Music Hall - New York

From the moment we arrived at Radio City Music Hall to see Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga the energy and magic from those who attended the concert made the whole night a night to remember. The songs and performances by Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett were absolutely amazing. The whole audience singing New York New York with Lady Gaga whom introduced Tony Bennett and then too sing Happy Birthday along with Lady Gaga to Tony Bennett were two of the most memorable events of the evening. It was absolutely one of the very best concerts I have seen and been too. They were taping the concert to be shown on television at a later date if you couldn't attend.

    An experience like no other

by Jack on 8/8/21Radio City Music Hall - New York

Lady Gaga show us what she can do and proof to the world, she more than a pop star. She is a jazz singer as Tony told her. I seen Gaga many times, 8 times to be exact and this time I was unable to capture the memories with a phone as it was a no phone allowed event. Let me tell you, it’s all for the better. I was experiencing something so special that a phone will take away from it. (They also announced its being film for television). The first time I saw Tony was when I saw Gaga in Vegas. He was a special guest that night and sang 2 songs with Gaga from the Cheek to Cheek album. I’m so happy to get to experience their last time together. Tony is someone so special, he captures the audience with just his charm and remarkable skills. Once they both are on stage together, Magic happens. I hope to see this special on tv some day. Will always remember this event as one of my favorites.

by AP_NYC on 8/8/21Radio City Music Hall - New York

An amazing night. Gaga was her fabulous self, the host, the emcee, the entertainment, she's just the best. And Tony... great to see his joy of singing. Sad that it's the end for him, but he went out on top of the world. A legend.

Definitely one of the best concert I have ever been to. Tony Bennett was so moving as he made his farewell with the audience. I’m feeling so blessed to have witness this moment. Lady Gaga was also beyond incredible. She opened for Tony and couldn’t have done better. She was brilliant! They both made me cry! I‘ve had the time of my life! If I could go every night I would!

This was a historic event in every way. A reopening after COVID. Two of the greatest stars on earth. The repertoire was perfect. Gaga's outfits, stage presence, and voice is at it's pinnacle. Tony's voice is still pitch perfect.

    A historic, once-in a lifetime opportunity

by Kristen on 8/6/21Radio City Music Hall - New York

What an incredible night - truly one of the highlights of my concert-going experiences. Gaga performing standards and a salute to Tony Bennett with a 40-something piece orchestra and a big band? Gamechanger. The most touching part was watching Gaga interact with Tony - so much respect and love and kindness on display, and her commitment to yielding to Tony to give him this opportunity to perform for an enthusiastic audience shows that she is a class act.

    Thank you

by M. B. on 8/6/21Radio City Music Hall - New York

This was our first event in a very long year. The atmosphere was full of excitement and the Radio City Music Hall employees were so friendly and made the process of entrance easy considering the flow of people. The only problem was the handling of the phones which were being locked up in the same lines as entrance and exit creating some confusion. We did not bring our phones knowing this ahead of time. The event itself was amazing and brought tears to your eyes. Singing "Happy Birthday" to Tony was so special. Lady Gaga and Tony almost seem as one with the love they both give and certainly with the love the audience gave back. What a wonderful memory to have. Congrats to everyone who put so much effort in making this all happen.
