About

Toby McKeehan, better known as tobyMac, has spent most of his life as a successful Christian recording artist. The Virginia native first formed the vocal trio DC Talk in 1987, creating five major studio efforts and an EP, all of which merged gospel and rap with tinges of alt-rock. One sign of their reach: four of the six releases earned Grammy Awards in the Best Rock Gospel Album category.

In 2000, after several rounds of European and North American concerts, DC Talk called it quits, leaving tobyMac to focus on his solo career. In 2001, the performer unleashed “Momentum,” followed by nine other records. Now one of the most well-known performers in the Christian rap genre, tobyMac received his own Grammy nod for Best Contemporary Christian Music Album with his fifth studio set, “Eye on It,” which surfaced in August 2012.

TobyMac, who continues headlining the occasional tour, has hit the road in years past with other popular ticket-selling Christian outfits like Audio Adrenaline, Skillet and Jamie Grace.

    Great concert

by PaulinhoPaulete on 4/2/10UNO Lakefront Arena - New Orleans

Great concert!!! Loved Skillet and Toby Mac was awsome. The only bad thing was the sound system at Toby's time. I don't know why but it looked like it was not loud enought, besides that was a great, great concert.

    Toby Mac was awesome!

by kaye11 on 4/2/10UNO Lakefront Arena - New Orleans

I've never been to a concert at the UNO Lakefront Arena. I loved the venue and thought Toby Mac was great; It was a family affair, we brought our 10 yr old daugther; However, my only complaint was that the opening band, Skillet was on stage way too long, they were extremely hard core rock and if the lyrics were christian, I couldn't tell, because all they did was scream instead of singing, next time we'll just come late to see the band we actually paid to see!

    Insanely Amazing!

by Misty3281 on 4/2/10UNO Lakefront Arena - New Orleans

The opening act was House of Heroes. I had never heard of them, but from the time they started playing I was hooked. Their music is incredible. Skillet and Toby Mac both put on phenomenal performances. This event was the best night of my life. I couldn't have asked for more. I can't wait to see them when they come to the area again!

Both Skillet and Toby Mac were fantastic! All the best songs were played, and they were great entertainers for the entire night. Would DEFINITELY recommend anyone who is a fan of either band to go see this tour!! If you get floor tickets, you may even catch some drumsticks from the bands ;)

Awake Tonight Tour off the hook!!

by krawlr4 on 4/2/10UNO Lakefront Arena - New Orleans

The Toby Mac organization was awesome. We brought our students and were blessed by the organization. Students coming from a low icome neighbor could only afford seats in the upper level, but we were blessed and our 6 six students were given floor seats last night. Just seeing them enjoy the entire concert and mostly Toby Mac down on the floor made it awesome for me. I did enjoy it as well, Toby was great. Me, my wife, my two buddies, and their spouses really couldn't keep still through the entire time. Great concert from Toby and the Diverse City Band. So, I thank the Lord for sending 6 tickets for 6 students who was able to experience God at work in their lives. Thank you for allowing the Lord to use you in a mighty way. When are you coming back?

    Skillet was incredible!

by CutOffFromTexas on 4/2/10UNO Lakefront Arena - New Orleans

My review is strictly based on Skillet; my wife and I left after Toby Mac got on stage, nothing against him, just not into his music. Skillet really knows how to put on a heck of a show; pyrotechnics, platform lifts.. These guys really know how to rock!

    Sick

by Dasani4Prez on 4/2/10UNO Lakefront Arena - New Orleans

I imagine that Skillet was pretty good. I personally don't know. I had tickets to go BUT I got sick 2 days before the concert and missed it. Every review I have read about Skillet before this show was good so it just leads me to believe they were good. I have got to get tickets to the Lafeyette show, I do not want to miss them again!

    Skillet and Toby were AWESOME!

    by Loudog58 on 4/1/10Germain Arena - Estero

Although I wasn't too impressed with House of Heroes, Toby and Skillet were "THE BOMB"! Toby was the essence of "SHOWMANSHIP" and Skillet just flat-out ROCKED THE JOINT! Would recommend this show to all (christian and non). If HOH would have held up their own, would've been 5 star, AMAZING!
